Pros: There have been no pros.
Cons: The wedding coordinator will try to squeeze every penny out of you. Not answer emails, or answer particular questions. Horrible service

I just want to warn anyone who is thinking about planning a wedding at this resort, I am in the process of planning mine now, and I am just about to cancel the whole thing and go with a difffernt resort all together. The wedding coordinator is very unorganized. She cant speak very good enligh. She sends one cost sheet, and then  decides to send another more updated higher cost sheet. They are trying to charge me $500 to bring on my own minister to marry me (plus his cost). To have any sort of decorations, they want to charge over $1000. If you chose to go with any outside vendor they will charge you $500. They do not have any suggesstions or proposals, you have to request it. and when you get it, the prices re REDICULOUS. All in all, I would tell any bride to STAY CLEAR OF THIS RESORT

what date are you planning your wedding? I just booked for may 18, 2013 at iberostar cancun and i am having the same problem. they have no set prices and they are trying to charge me like $1,000 for a dj and $85 per person for a reception on the beach.. then they just came down to $65. outrageous!!! i am so confused with their whole pricing and packages.. are you having a reception or having it just at one of the restaurants.. its a shame because all the reviews on this hotel is amazing and everything else is perfect. however, the wedding cordinator is not the best.

Hello there..I am so surprised no one else on this site has gotten married at this resort or that there are no wedding reviews what so ever on the web.

YEs this hotel has AMAZING reviews on trip advisor, but the wedding cooordinator Magaly was AWFUL. I pretty much had to plan my whole wedding with a bunch of cost sheets that consistly changed on me. Not once did she suggest any ideas, or try to plan something that worked within my budget. I had to do this ALL my self. EVERYTHING. It seems they try to nickle an dime you for every little thing, and yes their costs are outragous. Especially when this is all inclusive, and they charge you for alcohol for your reception. I chose to go with their free wedding package, and just add on to it, as I really didnt see a big difference in the free package and the $5000. The differences in the two definitely dont add up to a 5 grand difference, which is why i went with the free one. I really dont care for robes, champagne the next day etc. Also, even though the packes say free hotel upgrade, I guarantee you they will not upgrade you for free because it is based on availability. And it seems to be that even though we are bringing 30 guests to their resort, and paying $5500 for extras at our wedding, they still have no desire to just automatically upgrade us to a junior suite. They wanted to charge me and extra $500 to be guaranteed a room. Just seems so tacky conisdering the amount of business we are bringing. This whole experience has been pretty disspointing, and mostly due to the awful wedeing coordinator.

I am not sure if you know, but Magaly has since been fired or quit and is no longer at the resort, so as of now , ther is NO wedding coordinator at the Iberostar Cancun. Just another thing for me to worry about...

Hopefully they get someone really good, who goes out of her way to make their brides feel at ease, and excited about their destination wedding.

I found a local minister to perform our ceremony, and I swear he has been more helpful to us in one week then the wedding coordinator has been in three months. If your looking for an amazing minister, I can give you his contact. Iberostar is going to charge me $65 to bring him onsite for the day, and I will be paying him cash.

oh wow i am so pissed i had no idea she got fired! i am gonna have to call my travel agent tmr and find out what's going on! I was also gonna do the free wedding and just add things to it but now i am nervous because yours was an extra $5500. That is just crazy! are you having a cocktail hour? Where are you having your reception? I actually just called last week to see how much it would be to upgrade my room since i am bringing my 2 boys with me and wanted to see the difference in price from the junior suite to the master suite (the only difference is one is 1 bedroom and the other has 2) everything else is the same. THney told me $200 per person per night for the junior suite and $700 per person per night for the master suite.. iwanted to die! that is just ridiculous! also, are you using their photographer or hiring an outside vendor? I am so nervous about all of this because we are just starting to set up pur package and now i am afraid they are gonna hit us with a huge bill.. i have searched online many and many of hours about wedding here and always found it strange how i never seen pictures, videos, reviews etc on anything reguarding a wedding here.. have you ever seen pictures of an actual wedding here? when is your wedding? hopefully, the new wedding coordinator will be alot more helpful like you said and realize all this nickel and diming people isn't gonna get them anywhere. I am also planing on bringing about 50-60 guests.

Im sorry, I meant to say that my whole wedding is going to cost $5,500 above and beyond the free wedding package.. But that also includes a few other things such as bridesmaids dresses, flower girl dresses etc. My total cost with Iberostar came to just over $3500 for the extras. I am getting married December 18, (THIS YEAR!). This is what I planned, and some of the costs..

First I started with the basic free wedding package..This does NOT include a minister, so I found one locally who will do it for $200 cash.He is amazing and if you are looking to do the same I can give you his contact. Iberostar is charging me $65 to bring him onsite for the day. Because of all the difficulties I had with Magaly, and their outragous costs for outside vendors, I chose to go with who they reccommend because if anything does go wrong, then I can point fingers at Iberostsar.. If I bring my own people in, and they screw up, or damage the place or anything goes wrong, Iberostar takes zero responsibility and I end up being the one who pays. I figured if I wanted to get decent service from Iberostar I had better go with some of their vendors.

That being said, I also chose to go with their onsite photographer ($1000) (who really doesnt seem to be the GREATEST, but will do), and I also chose to go with their Dj. ($1000) . We are going to do a simple ceremony on the grass by the beach, with the basic set up that comes with the free wedding package. We chose not to go with any of their extra decoration due to their outragous costs ( $300 to stand under a canopy for 20 mins? no thanks) , and just use the natural beauty that is all around, especially the beach. For the ceremony I will just bring my own cd and get someone to take charge of the ceremony music while everyone is walking down the aisle etc.

After the ceremony we are NOT doing a cocktail hour, we are given free chamapgne after the wedding and then I will get everyone to go to the bar to stock up on drinks while we go and get our photos taken. We will then do the free dinner in a restaurant for an hour and a half, and then after that I planned the reception at Las Terrace for 3 hours. We will have a dj, and open bar for three hours or so, and the night will prob conclude around 11 pm. If you are looking for a few pictures that magaly sent me, I can also give you my personal email address and I can send you a few things that may help.

Ohh ok..that makes more sense because if it was just $5500 for the extras adding up that would have been even more insane! i was thinking around $3,000 so that sounds about right.. I would love to see the pictures so if you can email them to me my email address is [email protected].. They sent me some pictures but i didn't really like anything that i seen. it was alot of pictures of mexican setups.. I dunno i just want something plain, simple with some colorful flowers. Nothing crazy.. haha.. I can't believe you are getting married this december.. that is so close! i am sure it's going to be beautiful and everything you dreamed of. I would go and just try to relax and enjoy your day! easier said than done i know because i have anxiety about everything.. lol.. Also, do you know if there are any bars that played music there. From what i seen and read the bars are only open til 1:00 and i am not sure about the music..

Hello ladies, I am also getting married at Iberostar on June 13, 2013. I was dealing with Magaly and have been told that she is no longer worker there, since that email I have not heard anything, but an email to pay my deposit to secure my date, which now I am regretting. I have no idea what to do for a reception because the "paradise package" that I have booked only provides a 1.5 hr dinner at one of the specialty resturants. I have emailed about adding on a private reception and have heard nothing, also have floating sky lanterns that I wanted to light off on the beach after sunset and have heard nothing.

Do you have anymore insight, could you tell us how your wedding goes in December? Congratulations, and I am sure you will have a wonderful time

hey ashleigh. I am now dealing with Rosy, the new coordinator. She has definitely been more responsive than the others but i had to call a couple times to push her along to help me with my package. I still have nothing set in stone yet but now have a better idea of what they have and how much certain things are. I am having a private reception either on the garden or terrace. they are supposed to send me some pics and i have recieved some but not all. Have you had any luck getting in contact with anyone? do you know where you want to have your reception? also, do you know what your doing yet as far as a photographer? If you have any questions i can help you with just let me know also if you want to email me instead of going back and forth on here i put my email address in the previous email. = )

Ok gals I am getting married at Iberostar in 4 days! The whole wedding planning process has been quite the challenge, but I managed to get in touch with Manuel, who is the main Events Director. After Rosy took on this new role, I still found that the communication with her was very difficult. My emails would not get a response until 5 - 7 days after I wrote her. On the other hand, whenever I have emailed Manuel he has responded right away, with very good customer service. I understand Rosy is probably very busy, but I do think that her response times could be improved. I still really do have faith that it will all come together. How bad can it really be, right?! We are keeping the whole thing very very simple, and hopefully it all works out. We chose the free wedding becauase for us the difference between the free and any other package was not worth it to us. Because the free package doesnt come with a minister, I found an amazing minister from Cancun to come onsite and do the ceremony for us.

Still not sure if there will be any sort of rehearsal for the ceremony. I have requested one but we will see once I arrive.

For the DJ and photographer, we are using BIG BANG DJ, she was recommended by Edna. We also chose to go with the onsite photographer as well.

I will keep you guys posted once I get back!!!
