Pros: Amazing staff & wedding planner, breathtakingly gorgeous, World Class Resort
Cons: N/A

My husband and I had our Destination Wedding at the Grand Velas Riviera Maya back in December 2011.   We conducted several site visits in the Cancun area and visited 15 or so resorts.   When we first drove up to Grand Velas, we were stunned at how beautiful it is.  The lobby's, ocean views, infinity pools and ambiance are literally breathtaking.  Before coming to Grand Velas we knew it had a World Class reputation but seeing the resort brought it to a whole new level for us -- after visiting we knew we had to find a way to have our dream wedding at Grand Velas.

Because my husband is Indian and I am Christian we wanted to have two weddings to celebrate both traditions -- Grand Velas helped our dream come true!   The logistics for a "double-wedding" are too numerous to count, but in working with their Wedding Planner (Yazmin is AMAZING!) and the rest of the staff our dreams started to take form and become a reality.   Pulling off an Indian Wedding in Mexico is a difficult task since it's not as big of an industry in Mexico as it is in the US (although it's growing), but we were able to pull it off, all the way down to bringing in an excellent indian chef from downtown Cancun to cater our Indian reception dinner, complete with Tandoori oven!  My husband and I are very particular people in every sense, but we could not have been happier with the folks at Grand Velas.

If you want to host a wedding that will truly WOW your guests in every sense of the word (and I haven't even mentioned the incredible brunches, 5 star restaurants and round the clock room service they will enjoy), I highly recommend Grand Velas.  Several of our guests have said they want to go back to Grand Velas again to vacation, and there was even chatter about a 1-year or 5-year reunion at the resort.  We can't wait to go back and vacation one day.

Check out the pics from our double-wedding!!

Hi Karen!

First of all, your wedding was absolutely beautiful! I had already seen pictures on the DelSol website (I'm most likely going to book them too, but my wedding will not be until June 2017) and it made it even more prominent to me that I have to go for an on site visit! It seems like you had a huge wedding party, my fiance and I are expecting around 80 people for our day, but we were curious about prices, room rates, and what the food catering was like (for your christian wedding)? Did you go with the catering offered in their package or hire an outside vendor for that?

Any advice/suggestions/opinions would be so so appreciated! We are in between Grand Velas and Fairmont Mayakoba. Mayakoba is not all inclusive, and Grand Velas is, but we are really trying to weigh out our options! :)
