Pros: Beautiful resort, awesome employees
Cons: Didn't feel like anyone knew it was our wedding

The resort was beautiful & all of the employees were awesome except for the people at the front desk.  They seemed annoyed whenever I asked them questions.  We had our wedding on the beach & cocktail hour on the beach & the reception at the Lobster House.

I will start off with the wedding.  Our wedding was at 5:00 & the wedding coordinator wanted everyone (except me, my Dad & bridesmaids) at the wedding site at 4:30.  Well, when they got there they had no idea what to do.  My husband said that everyone kept coming up to him asking what they are supposed to do...not sure what Nayeli was doing.  The ceremony set up was pretty, but there weren't any flowers on the table, which was included in the package.  We chose the religious ceremony, which seemed pretty long!  Overall, the ceremony was awesome.

Cocktail hour-We had originally planned to have the cocktail hour on the pier, but it was too windy & everyone just hung out at the bar anyways, so they just brought the food to the bar area.  I didn't get to try any of the food because we were taking pictures, but we heard it was good.  The mariachi band that was supposed to be playing at the cocktail hour had a flat tire & didn't show up on time, which was very disappointing, but unavoidable.

Reception-We got married on a Friday, the Lobster House is closed that night, so we had our reception there.  I would HIGHLY recommend getting married on a Friday & having the reception there.  We had our welcome dinner (highly recommend) Thursday night in the Foyer & it seemed much hotter up there than it did at the Lobster House.  Don't get me wrong, we were all sweating, but there was a breeze coming off of the ocean.  The set up was beautiful, food was good, cake was pretty & everyone had so much fun.  My main complaint about the reception part was that the cake was never served.  After we did the cake cutting thing, it just sat there & no one ever served it.  I don't know whose responsibility that was, but it just sat there for a while & then it was gone.  At the end of the reception, they asked us if we wanted it boxed up, we said yes, but never saw it again.

Our major complaint was that no one at the resort knew it was our wedding.  On all of our travel documents, the TA wrote that it was our wedding & the date, so they should've known.  From the time we checked in until the time we left.  We had 31 guests with us, so you would think that they would make sure that we were taken care of & had some recognition.  We never received an upgrade like our TA said we would, never got a banner on the door(very minor), never got fresh fruit & champagne like they said we would.  Nayeli asked us if there was anything we wanted special for our breakfast in bed & all my husband wanted extra was bacon.  He didn't get any, nor did he get the kind of beer he wanted for our refrigerator, which Nayeli said she could make happen.

We did have a great wedding & all of our guests had a great time.  A lot of people said it was the best wedding they had ever been to.  I am a pretty laid back person and wish I would've been a little more firm with my requests.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Kerri, I am trying to decide between Secrets Maroma and Excellence. I want a pergola/gazebo on the beach and possibly a beach reception in July of 2012. Our date probably wont be a friday... Any other beach side venues look pretty to you? What did you think of the actual lobster house food? What was your wedding menu choice? I think I will have around the same # of guests and I am a bit timid about requests. So... it's nice when things just get done as they say they will. I am glad you had a great wedding. Any advice on your part would be greatly appreciated. Nicole
