Hello Ladies! I just got back from our wedding on July 18th....it was everything AND MORE!!! I was very worried about the lack of communication up until the wedding, since I am a planner! But Pilar had every note taken down and when I got there she went above and beyond to make the wedding amazing! So, as hard as it is...DON'T WORRY! She is great at her job!

For Transfers, we used USA-Transfers, they were very good and the prices are great!

http://www.usa-transfers.com

I was worried about customs, packing 6 bags, bringing my dress on the plane, etc....but everyone was so accomodating and I had no issues getting the stuff there and back!

The resort was WONDERFUL. We went to another resort for our honeymoon, but we wanted to go back to NOW Jade! We had 50 guests and they all are trying to plan another trip to the resort already! It was a perfect place for the wedding and a vacation!

I used the hair/makeup and photographer from the wedding.....they were GREAT! Don't worry at all! My hair and makeup looked just like I wanted and the photographs turned out amazing and we got them back before we left the resort!!!

We had the wedding at the pergola, cocktail reception at the blue beach bar and we had the reception inside at the bamboo room. I would recommend having the reception inside, because it is rather HOT right now! If you do it outside, I would push back the time of the wedding and cocktail reception. We made our cocktail reception longer, so that we could enjoy the time with our guests, so we ended our recption a little later. After, we moved to the sports bar for some more fun!!!

We ended up having the buffet instead of picking a meal. It was wonderful and had a lot of choices. The set up was great as well.

Our flowers were amazing and exactly what I wanted. I sent Pilar a picture and they got it right on!

Our cake on the other hand was not what we wanted! LOL. However, I don't think the bakery is known for making cakes. A few of the other brides that were there also said that is the only thing that wasn't what they wanted. However, we just laughed and ate it (it tasted fine).

The DJ was from the resort and we had a great time dancing! If you have special songs that you want played, I would recommend giving him those in advance or bringing a CD. We brought a playlist on our ipod for the cocktail reception and also for the dinner music.

I am not sure what else to write, but I will tell you that you will have the most perfect wedding at NOW Jade! It was exactly what we wanted and everyone had the best time!

Here are some pictures of our wedding. (resolution is not that great because I pulled them off a website) but if you have any questions or want to see any other pictures of something in particular, let me know!!!

I would really like to hear more about your statement "I was very worried about the lack of communication up until the wedding." I also am a person who likes to plan, and I know if I had to plan the wedding it would drive me nuts, so I want to be able to let go and let SOMEONE ELSE plan it. That's why we chose to do a destination wedding! :) I would have no problem letting go if I felt like the "someone else" was actually taking charge and was competent. After emailing the wedding coordinator 4 times before getting our travel agent involved to set up our first phone call, then her being over an hour late for that call, then trying to set up a time for a 2nd phone call on a day she suggested and not hearing back from her until the day after that, then finding out that during the time she was busy not getting back to us someone else booked one of the locations we were thinking of, and trying so hard to get her to take charge of this process telling her we want to follow HER time line and follow HER process for planning all this, to just have her not take charge but just ask what questions WE have (we don't know what to ask!) and ask us when WE want to talk again - it doesn't have me convinced that she can pull this off! Right now I'm about at the point of finding another resort, which is what led me to read other people's reviews. If other people have had the same experience, and it really does come together at the end, it will make me feel better. I know you said your wedding coordinator was Pilar, but we do not have Pilar we have someone else. Even so, please tell me more about your "lack of communication" experience! Thanks!

Well, the lack of communication makes a lot more sense after being there and seeing what goes on in the wedding coordinators life! They have weddings EVERY day...and in the summer months, they have more than one wedding a day. And since they have so many, that is a good and bad thing for you! Bad news - they don't actually give you the attention you need for your wedding that is X months out! They are worried about the weddings that are there at the resort at that time and weddings that are about to come to the resort in the next month! :) I understand why now. As stressed out as you may seem about ALL the planning that goes into a wedding, to them, they are not worried about it at all. Not that they do not care about your wedding, they just know that they will pull it off perfectly when it is your time. They are good at their job! So, when you get there, they will definitely have ALL your notes down and go out of their way to make your wedding perfect. They don't need time to do that, they call pull it off in days, because that is their job! To me and you...it takes that long to get everything in order and of course we stress because it is our wedding day, the most important day! But that is the good news...when it is your time...it will be great!

My advice is to just put together an email of what you WANT. Because you are going to have requests that you want in your wedding. After that, they are going to email you back very sporadic if at all. But, as long as you have your requests in that email, they will have it down. Also, you will start receiving TONS of emails about 3 weeks to 1 month out...this is when they start planning it all for you. They will contact the minister, the dj, the photographer, flowers, the shuttle that picks you up from the airport, etc. This will then answer a lot of your questions and finalize pretty much ALL of the planning. If you have questions, send an email prior and they will get back to you with the answers eventually. But do not expect them to get back to you right away. A lot of their job consists of not being in their office at a computer and of course as I said earlier, they are helping brides that are there right now and coming in the next 2 weeks. (cont'd)

At first, I really let the lack of communication get to me. I waited a month for an email reply. I also found out that a lot of my emails were going to their junk mail file, so they were not getting them at all. So, that was a miscommunication as well. Then, I realized that once I started getting answers back, that they were handling it, just not on my timeline. They are very laid back, but I promise, they are SO GOOD!

You are going to have to plan some of your wedding though, since they do not know what you want. They will make what you want happen, but you have to lead the direction! Once you do that, I promise, you will be able to relax and have fun with your family and friends while you are there. We only had to meet with her twice before the wedding and it was like 1 hour the first time and 30 minutes the next!

Sorry about your problems getting the location tied down...once that is done though, I promise you the rest of the planning should be good! I bet the other wedding coordinator is just like Pilar and this resort is amazing! I would advise you not to trade!

I also bet that the wedding coordinators at the other resorts will be the same way, since they have so many weddings going on.

Good luck!

That is good to know, thanks Kim! I sure wish they would have just told me the same thing. If they would have just said "We have multiple weddings a day right now", and "we don't really need to start hammering out details until 1 month before" I would have been FINE with that answer. Especially since we specifically told her we wanted to do things on her timeline!! She could have told us what her timeline is! You know? Anyway, that is good advice for us to just send a list of requests in writing in an email, and just let it go at that for now. :) I will do that.

Thanks again! Also, your pics look pretty awesome.

Thanks for your review! I'm curious about the chairs at your ceremony and reception. Did you pay extra for those or did they just pull them out of the bamboo room? I really don't want to use the white draped chairs, but don't really want to pay $7 for each chair either! Thanks!

Yes, those are extra. If not, you will get the white chairs both for your ceremony and reception venue. The chairs are $10 per chair! $11.10 per chair with tax.

What package did you go with for 50 people. We are getting married there next June and are looking at having 50 people also. We just wanted to figure out what was the best route for budgeting. You looked so gorgeous!!! Thank you for all your help.

Thank you! I had the divine package, but instead of choosing a set meal, I chose the buffet which gave my guests more of an option of what they wanted to eat. I had the budgeting very close to what it came out to be, and actually it was less! I just took the list of prices she gave me, plus all of the extras, added the tax and service charge and added it all up in excel! I wasn't sure how much the flowers were going to cost for my decorations, so I guessed a little high on those!

Hi Kim,

Thanks so much for your review... looks like you choose all the locations that i have been looking at booking!! With this being said i have some questions for you...

Did you find that the Bamboo Ballroom was a good size for 50 people? could it fit more than that?

You mentioned you had your ceremony later.. what time did you start?

Lastly you mentioned the buffet, im so glad that you did as i was looking over the options, and i just dont think either would work for all our guests.. was there an option of having more choices for entres? Was there alot of options for the buffet??

Again thanks so much, i love this site and how helpful everyone is!!!

Love your pictures... you look beautiful!!
