Pros: resort is absolutely wonderful
Cons: wedding coordination is awful!!!!

I must say...I have mixed feelings about the Royal. Everything that could possibly go wrong with wedding planning did! I stopped planning several times because the wedding coordination was horrible.

They changed wedding coordinators on me 3 times, so 3 times I had to go over all of my options. 2 months before the wedding I get an email saying all of my prices went up to 2011 prices even though I signed my contract in 2010. We had to fight tooth and nail to have the 2010 prices they quoted.

They do not give discounts/block rooms/locked in prices.

They messed up my hair appointments and mani/pedi appointment and double booked us so they told us we could no longer get our hair done and i had to reschedule my nail appt for 9am when it was at 230pm. They didn't tell me they has screwed up, they left a message on my hotel phone at 8pm when we were out until 2am enjoying our vacation.  i cried for 3 hrs the day of my wedding over this for them to only come back later and tell me that we were dbl booked with ourselves and we could now get our hair done!

My cake was a mushy mess! i shouldn't have paid for a wedding cake. We only took 2 bites and no one wanted any because it looked so gross!

Our room was not ready when we got there the day of the wedding because someone forgot to book it so we had to get ready for the wedding then pack back up and have them move my stuff while we were at the wedding. They ended up giving a man a key to this room so while my bridal party was in the room getting ready he walked in with his bags.

I had an outside photographer so they charged me $350 for that an this does not include anything!!! I still had to pay $180 for them to eat dinner.

They charged us $15 a glass for a champagne toast even though this is an all inclusive resort and there was free champagne 2 feet away that we were walking straight over to drink after the toast.

We wanted to make reservations for the wedding party the night before the wedding and in order for 18 people to sit together at a restaurant they wanted us to pick1 menu option for everyone to eat and pay $40/person which i think is ridiculous at an all inclusive and all the guests were Royal guests! We just wanted to sit at a table together!

Like I said, I have a love/hate relationship! Once the wedding started, all of this didn't matter because the resort was absolutely beautiful and the food was amazing! The waiters and bartenders were top notch. Our room was enormous and spotless. We had the five star treatment the rest of our stay. I highly suggest The Royal for your honeymoon maybe not so much for wedding unless they revamp their wedding coordination processes. We will definitely be going back this year for our anniversary. If you are planning a wedding there, everything turns out amazing but be prepared to be stressed out more than necessary due to the coordination.
