Pros: Super friendly staff, gorgeous grounds, amazing food, great drinks, beautiful rooms
Cons: Some unnecessary wedding overcharges and front desk night employee Claudia and Manager Espinoza (horrible manners and customer service skills)

First of all I want to that this website and all the generous ladies who shared their planning, weddings tips and still come back to answer any questions. Wouldn’t done without you guys. I have to say that this Resort really realize all my dreams and just by writing about it make me want to leave everything behind and go back as soon as possible. All my guest have an amazing time, their best vacation and we all already planning to go back for our 1st anniversary (the whole group). I won’t post a review under the Gran Caribe as my reception was on their side, but no comparison, in Cancun the Royal is the BEST RESORT EVER. I know how hard it is to plan a such special event away from home and have the responsibility to do good for guest, so PLEASE listen to me (I everybody will have your own experience): I will be going back in 3 months and them back for my wedding anniversary. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me or if you want to see more pics, please feel free to visit my wedsite www.mywedding.com/nigelana

Okay focusing in the review....

 Wedding-A+++++

Our wedding was way more than we expected. They had 8 weddings that day and at any point we felt that was any weddings going on. I started with Katia Nunez, them since she left for pregnancy leave I was assigned Elvy Munoz and 1 month before the wedding Paty Uloa was assigned as my wedding coordinator. I have to say that all of them were GREAT in ALL aspects of my wedding. I didn’t have one single issue at all and I will miss them. I just wished that the musicians would be more professional and aloud us to request songs in advance and in case they didn’t know the song requested in advance they would learn and played for you. It would make my wedding more personalized. The reason I didn't tip was because I paid $400 for having the wedding after 4pm and $400 for a minister that on the next day was helping me at the front desk (I felt I was more than overcharged for it). I got the Luxury Package and added Doremixx with cold fireworks and light up floor. I totally suggest getting married the time I did (4:30 PM) the pics look amazing, the cocktail hour was perfect and by the time we had dinner was sunset. The ceremony was at the Royal Cancun with a live violin soloist, cocktail hour at the Royal Cancun Beach with a live trio and reception at Villas Terrace over the Grand Caribe’s side. I didn’t meet the photographer, but I used the video and photographer from the hotel. I will not evaluate them until I receive everything. Please note that the pictures posted here were taken by me or friends.

The people that did the cleaning and pressing of our clothes did a good job and returned everything before the set time.

The SPA ladies did a great job on my hair, nails and make up. I was very worried because not everybody knows how to work with dark complexions. Look for Mariana for nails, Alma for hair and make up and Rose for massage.

Around 2 hours prior to wedding I received my bouquet I will also post the flowers for the ceremony. I was very happy with the flowers as I thought I would be very disappointed since I wasn’t able to go pick them. Also posting how the Royal gazebo looked. I brought the white aisle runner, the fake flowers and bows to not be overcharged.

I will be posting a review for the DJ later, just know that the money it totally worth it. I didn’t sit down all night. They did an awesome job and they were the one telling me when was time for things to happen at the party. I met Ivan to go over all the music details and even though he was not the DJ for my weedding Doremixx uses the best club DJs in town. As an exemplo, my DJ was the DJ at Coco Bongo the same night.

Transfer company A+++++++++++

Lomas Travel, specially Arturo and Roberto did a great job with the whole transfer from the beginning to the end. My flight and all my guests flights were late and the y figured out and was right at the exit when we arrived, carried our bags, helped with all my tours, etc.

Resort A+++++++++++!!!!!

It was the best choice ever. This resort is surreal!!! You will truly feel that everybody is there to serve you the best way possible. Staff is very good. I only had issue with 2 people (I mentioned up there about Daniela e Manager Espinoza night front desk), but everybody else is amazing. Look for Arturo (Bartender), Antonio (pool server), Alexia (Front desk), Charly (Bartender).  Cleaning and dancers also PERFECT.

Great review! I'm getting married here on Friday, the 10th! Paty is my onsite coordinator too, I'm hoping everything is awesome!

How far was it to get from one part of the wedding to the next? Are they closer than they sound? lol. (ceremony to cocktail hour, cocktail hour to reception?)

The cocktail hour was at the beach under the ceremony Gazebo, so it didn't take us more than 20 steps. LOL. From the cocktail to the reception it's was the hotel right by ours. Not even 0.5 miles. My grandmother that has 80 years old walked with no issue. You can't feel it at all since everybody walks together talking. It's very close. You don't have to worry.

LOVE LOVE LOVE This review. I am getting married there next year in March and cannot wait! Thank you so much for all the details. Your photos are amazing! My WC is Claudia. Has anyone had her yet? How was the food? How was the cake? Was the DJ the one from the resort in the Luxury package?

Thanks so much for your review!

Thanks, I can totally relate as I was in your shoes not long ago and this blog was a LIFE SAVER. LOL.

Never heard of Claudia, but if you can choose your WC at the resort (you will only get your 1 month before your wedding) don't get Flora. In this blog a found a lot of complains about her. Mine was Patricia and not only she is the best as she is the Managers of them all :)

The hotel food is excellent, but the wedding food is SURREAL. People that attended my wedding are still talking about it. My cake had baileys and coconut my 2 favorites.

Yes, my DJ was included in the Luxury Package, but I added the light up floor which comes with 2 cold fireworks and it is totally WORTH IT!

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. Happy Planning!

Thanks for the helpful review! This is everything I've been looking for and MORE! I love all of the food porn too.. I just had a few questions.

1) I noticed that you said the DJ was included in the luxury package in the comment above, but then I saw that you added Doremixx. Is that the resort's vendor and you just added the dance floor and cold fireworks? I was confused (but I've also been reading a ton of reviews, so they're all blending together in my mind..lol). What did they charge?

2) Your review appears to be from June. When was your actual wedding? How would you say the temperature is during a 4:00 ceremony? Still pretty bearable? I'm also interested in the gazebo and terrace locations, but don't want my guests to fry!

3) Did you pay a fee to use both resorts' facilities?

Anything else you can share would be great! Thanks for your time.

Hi Kaye33,

Please find your answers below:

1) The DJ was on the package, but I added the light up floor which come with 2 cold fireworks. The price was $750 (totally worth it). If you want 2 additional cold fireworks you can add for $150 more (in my case it was not necessary at all)

2) I got married on May 28th and the weather was perfect. The Gazebo at 4:00pm doesn't have any more sun and with the breeze made everything very pleasent. By the time we arrived at the terrace it was almost sunset. We had dinner watching sunset and it was very romantic.

3) With the luxury package you don't have to pay extra for facilities. What I paid extra was $400 for getting married on the weekend and after 4:00pm

4) I suggest taking walkie talk radios in order to communicate there as a lot of cell phones don't work properly

If I remember anything else I will add, but feel free to ask as many question you want.
