Pros: Claudia is incredible, so sweet and the resort is very family friendly
Cons: not alot of communication before the wedding

I am back and a married woman! I am so so happy about how our wedding turned out.

Transfers/Flight

American Airlines was awful, the flight attendants did not help at all with my wedding dress, and when i laid it out in an overhead compartment there was a piece of my dress outside the flight attendant slammed it many times in attempt to close it, until i yelled for her to stop it was my wedding dress that was there! On our way back from Cancun we had mechanical trouble sat on the runway for 3 hours, then got sent back to the terminal to collect our bags wait in line for another hour to get a new flight and hotel vouchers, then wait another hour in line for transfers back to a hotel all to fly out at 7am the next morning! Really not happy.

Our transfers were with VI travel in Cancun, they were great, waiting for each of our guests as they arrived and got them all there and back with no complications.

Checkin

Check in was great, we were booked for a deluxe dolphinfront room and ocean view. We arrived and were greeted with a cold towel with orange blossom essence and champagne. We were told we were upgraded to a two story honeymoon suite! We got there at 11:30 so we had to wait till 3pm till it was ready, but we just went explored the resort, got lunch and had some drinks. Our room was ready at exactly 3pm. Our luggage was brought to our room and waiting for us was a nice welcome letter and an arrangement of flowers, with a honeymoon sign on the door.

All the rest of the guests check-in's were great too, no problems with anyone's rooms and one of our guests got put in a room with a king bed who requested two doubles. Two hours later they had her in a different room.

Resort Grounds/Pool/Beach

The grounds are just as they look in all the pictures on the internet. The beaches are beautiful and there is alot of them. We never had a problem finding a group of chairs together, the best part about this resort is it is not to big but yet big enough that you can find all your party, but still have some time alone to get away.  The pool is a bit on the small side, but hanging out at the pool bar with our friends in the afternoon after some beach time was great. Carlos the pool bartender is amazing! He was our favorite employee at Dreams.  The dolphins were great too, it was so much fun walking to breakfast every morning and stopping to see the dolphins, 90% of the people who came with us all had dolphin front rooms and would order room service for breakfast and watch the early morning dolphin shows. We swam with them and it was a great experience.

Restaurants

We loved every restaurant, we travel quite a bit, and so does alot of our guests. Everyone said this is probably the best all inclusive food any of us have ever had. The quality and presentation were amazing. There was so much selection, I never got sick of the food. World Cafe is the only fully enclosed restaurant, their breakfast buffet was great and the fresh omlettes and tostados were amazing!! We never ate there for dinner but they did have theme nights every night my parents said french night was really good. We went to oceana for lunch and dinner it was really good. The garlic octopus was amazing!!!!! Seaside had really good steak. Himitsu had great sushi and tempura fried ice cream! The shitake cream soup was really really good too.

We had the romantic dinner for two out on the pier at 8pm so it was dark, we did this on our first night before any of our guests got there. It was so beautiful, they had pretty purple and pink lights lighting the canopy. We had our own server with champagne and wine. The meal was great and just a great way to start our wedding moon.

We paid extra for our rehearsal dinner and had it at Oceana. It was for 30 people and they prepared a beautiful table, we had 5 servers for our table keeping our drinks filled always. We had a set menu and then everyone got to choose their own desert. It was really nice and well worth the money.

Wedding/Pre Wedding day

The second day we were there we met with Claudia, she phoned our room early that morning and we met with her in the afternoon. I know there is not great communication with her beforehand, but in the month of may alone there is 40 weddings at Dreams. She is hardly ever in her office. I completely understand now and I would tell every bride to not worry she is amazing! A side tip: We gave Claudia 150$ as a tip with a very nice card and it got us a few extras, plus just felt good knowing how much she does for every bride.

I went in the morning before meeting her and got a hair trial. Its 60$ but I would recommend it because you get the same hairstylist the day of and it goes alot smoother. I brought my computer showed the pictures and then i tested it out at the gazebo where it is so windy and made changes accordingly the day of. My hair did not move on our wedding day, they all did an amazing job on all the hair.

We met with Claudia in her office and within 45 minutes we had our whole wedding planned. I am a very laid back bride and it was the easiest thing I had ever done! We went back the day before our wedding to pay for everything and make sure all the details were right.

The day of the wedding my DH and I went for breakfast and exchanged gifts, then spent the morning at the pool. Our ceremony was at 6pm perfect for sunset pictures! My bridesmaids and I went up to my room at 12 and met Claudia up there, she took all the stuff for the reception and ceremony. I gave her a quick explanation of what I wanted and she did exactly what I wanted when it came to decorating. I could not ask for anything better! We had our hair appointments starting at 1pm, I know that seems early but we did not finish till 3:45pm. We got up to the room, ordered some room service lunch. Got photography and got dressed just in time to go down to the ceremony.

All the music I gave Claudia worked perfectly. I strongly recommend a sound system or you could not hear anything from the strong winds.

We had Juan do our pictures, we went over to the lighthouse for pictures, these were done by 8pm. We had our reception on Himitsu. We did not have the cocktail hour we traded it for 10 extra people at dinner. We got to the reception and it was beautiful, Claudia did an amazing job at setting it up. It was beautiful. She had added the white flags behind us. We got a dance floor and ended up with the lighted dance floor, this adds so much! She also gave us a DJ, he was awesome. Our dinner was great and service again was amazing!

After our reception ended at 11pm. we all headed over to Desires and danced with another wedding party from earlier in the day. It was so much fun.

Here is some pictures from our day and reception. I brought down all my own centerpieces, chair bows and table runners.

LOVE IT! We have similar centerpieces. Only I have red petals and a double submersible floralight (I bought it cause it was brighter, but now I worry it's too bright! I lost my rose petals, and now dollar tree nixed it's wedding section. Boo! You look so gorgeous girl! Was the dance floor always different colors. I would like it to just be one lit up color at a time during our dance.

Thank you! The centerpieces turned out great. It was really bright with just the single submersible lights. The dance floor and lights that are set up for the dance floor make it great lighting! The dance floor was different colors after we started dancing, which made it fun. But during our first dance, dinner, mother/son, father/daughter dances it was pink, that is what I asked for it to be.

Hi, I bought vases from the dollar tree, three per table. I took real touch orchids from micheals, cut the flowers off the stems. Then got submersible pink led lights placed them in the bottom, covered with clear crystal rocks put two orchids per vase filled them with water and placed a floating candle in each. I got my table runners and chair bows from weddinglinensdirect.com. Hope this helps!

Huge congrats! Looks like it was amazing. I am another May 2012 bride also considering Dreams. Just wondering even though the reception finished at 11pm, could you have had it go longer? Or was that the latest that they allowed.

Thanks for your review

you could have it go later you just have to pay for additional hours, or you could start it later, you only have three hours for your reception. But we went to desires after the club attached to dreams and continued to dance and party.

Hi, I am just wondering, you brought your own chair bows and table accessories, did they charge you a fee for these?

Link to comment

they do not charge a fee for any of that. You can bring all that kind of stuff and they will set up all of it.
