  1. Hi Brides! If you are looking for answers as to why getting married in a private Venue compared to a hotel may be best for you, then, this is a good article to read for you. The main advantages our private Beach/Garden, or other perhaps as well, as compared to a hotel are privacy, length of party hours and originality and my favorite one of all; a break from hotel food and the same pool/beach area guests have been in all week! Privacy: You will not be taken pictures of by loud strangers. Also, the activities guy will not be yelling on the microphone during your ceremony Our beach is very secluded and basically private. Our venue does not open to the public and therefore no strangers will be there. Late Party Hours: What is the point of getting married in Mexico if you cannot party hard into the night You may party for 9 hours straight in our private Venue. Up until 2AM or even longer if your budget permits. Originality and Personal Attention: We do not have two or three weddings at the same time or even the same day; so yours will be our only wedding ceremony during that week assigned to our wedding staff. They will focus on you and only you during the week. We may have a wedding the next day but the staff/coordinator will be different so they will not have to cram or worry about back to back weddings and therefore you get much better service. A Break From Hotel: Considering that guests have been in the hotel for a week my brides point out to me that the main reason for having the wedding outside of the hotel is to give the guests a break from the same hotel food and the same setting. Puerto Vallarta is in the seventh largest bay in the world. It would be a shame if they do not see a bit more than just one beach. The wedding then becomes a sort of "Tour" where they get to try new areas and different quality of ingredients in a full service dinner. Enough Hotel Buffett aleady Cost wise, we are about the same as the hotel cost for a wedding so it is a wash. Of course you can design your wedding and have better decorations and different entertainment upgrades and that is another advantage for our venue... no restrictions as to who you can work with and what you can do in your party! We are known as an Indie Venue! As written by this famous magazine... So please visit www.martoca.com for packages and costs and available dates! You can always stay at the big resorts. They are close by... so do not worry about distance. So come visit! Thank You! Jimmy

  3. It is usually the most expensive item of the reception: Dinner and Drinks! So what can you do to budget and organize well? Of course it all depends on your available money for the wedding total but for argument sake let's take a budget of about 100 dollars per person which is about average for all night bar and food service. First let's start with the bar. I personally do not recommend the 4 to 5 hour bar to anyone in Mexico It is a party and no cash should be needed at any time. Also, in our venue we do not close early so it is an all-inclusive all night concept. So just consider the bar to be open during the entire party. The costs are going to be based on if you want well brands or top shelf brands and also I often set up a Specialty Sctrach Bar with all fresh ingredients for Mojitos and Margaritas So as you can guess, the cheapest is an open bar with well brands and beer and then it goes up according to the brands used and if we set up a cool looking bar and lounge area. Second, the food, yummy , the food can cost about 40 dollars per person for a good quality 3 course dinner, up to 150 dollars per person for 8 hors d'ouevres and 4 course gourmet dinner with imported ingredients such as Foie Gras and such... The dinner/food service cost is really very variable since we in www.Martoca.com for example, create all our menus for each wedding according to the taste and budget of the couple. In order to plan your budget I suggest you take in consideration the duration of your party and if it is more than 5 Hours you should have a late night taco bar for example . You should not have your guests without eating for longer than 3 or 4 hours. I try to have something, even small hors d'ouvres for example every 3 or 4 hours... This is a cool tip: If you are a mixed culture couple like for example Mexican Bride and American or Canadian Groom, it is fun to do for example hors d'ouevres from Mexico and Dinner from the Cajun/Southern Sould Food/France/italy/Irish or whatever the couples better half is originally from or his ancestry, and then close with amazing cultural desserts from Puerto Vallarta region in our case or wherever your wedding location is going to be. So Bride or groom gets hor's d Ouevres then the other gets the dinner choices and the dessert is local And if the budget permits and your party is longer than 5 or 6 hours like in our venue we do up to 10 hours... you should invest in a Taco Bar. It is a great feature for your wedding and it is only about 10 to 15 dollars per person to set it up with awesome fresh made salsas and tacos. So to summerize you need to consider the bar, types of brands and duration of open bar and if you want a specialty drink bar set up like this one for example: Then comes the food budget, in summary you need to consider qulity of food for example the steak can be Kobe, Prime, Choice... do you want Organic or Grassfed beef, or Lobster and Jumbo Shrimp versus Chicken or pork. All this matters. This is why I always interview my couples and find out if they enjoy fine dinning or are "foodies" and if not then I go with a more standard menu. If they enjoy food and want the dinner to be a showpiece in the wedding then we will offer exotic menus and combinations and create amazing culinary experiences for our brides and their guests. Once you decide on the quality and type of ingredients the cooking cost the same if we are making chicken or Lobster Does this make sense? It is about ingredients and then we cook what you like to serve your guests. Then you must consider after quality of ingredients is the Quantity of "servings" i.e. Fists Hors d'Ouevres, then dinner, then dessert bar, then taco bar and Mexican Coffee flambee for example Here are some pictures of levels and types of food services offered. I forgot about buffets... sorry. We do not usually do buffets because the quality of the food suffers on the line. In Mexico labor is cheap so it really is no difference in price so buffets are not recommended by me. You should treat your guests to great 5 star service An important part of catering is the dinnerware and silverware and glasses used, as well as the table settings... this can vary from about 10 dollars per person up to 30 or 40 per person or more. It simply depends on your taste Thank You for reading and if you have any questions I am glad to help Jimmy james@martoca.com
  4. Do you want to get married at the resort on purpose or just because you do not know any other venues/planners? I would be glad to give advice if you like. www.martoca.com Jimmy
  5. In a Wedding Fiesta a Midnight Snack or "Cena de Desvelados" is a Must. It is midnight and it has been now 6 or 7 consecutive hours of fun drinking and dancing so the guests are now ready to refuel or call it a night. Do not worry, the "cena de desvelados" is here. This is what "munchies" are called in Mexico. They are not munchies really, in all seriousness it is a midnight station we set up for the guests so they do not have to go out to eat and also it helps to mitigate the effect an open bar can have on indulgent guests. It is necessary in order to get people to calm themselves a bit and get ready to head back to the hotel around 2 o 3am. Typically in Mexico we bring a taco station in and have tacos al pastor. These are beef and/or pork tacos from meat cooked on a rotating spit. They are amazing and fun to watch as they are made. It is a show in itself. See Ricky Martin on this video make some tacos!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aR4CKupuOlI&feature=related Watch Ricky Martin as he tries to prepare some. It is in Spanish but in minute 1:30 you will see a pro do it:). The other favorite is quesadillas which is the tortilla filled with cheese and meat and of course all kinds of salsas. Chilaquiles are fried corn chips boiled in sauce and are excellent plated and served on a late night buffet. They may be marinated and served with spicy red or green habanero sauce. This will kill the buzz for sure! My personal favorite are the tacos and they are so easy to set up. After having tacos I recommend brides to offer a Mexican coffe station where the guests can enjoy cafe de Olla (made in clay pots) or flammed coffee with brandy and some sweets that will make their toes curl with delight. It is fun because we serve it table side and it becomes a bit of a show and it helps to kill the buzz as well. Unless of course they spike the coffee with tequila, ay, aya ,ay!! Enjoy your time in Mexico and try different things, if not, what is the point of getting married in Mexico? Besides getting more value for your money of course. Have fun! 7. Your villa should have bottled water service delivered. Most places in Mexico do. I mean in case the filtration system is not installed... no worries Have fun! Jimmy
