    You'll love your photos


     

    When you think of taking snapshots in the rain, put aside your visions of frizzing hair and stepping your peep-toes into puddles, and instead focus on the photo-op at hand. "Photos with umbrellas can be so cute that you might even wish for rain," says Samuels. "Multi-colored or completely clear, there's an artistic opportunity to take advantage of with rain." In fact, if you fear rain is in your forecast, "consider silk-screening the bridal party's names on the umbrellas so that the photo is even more cute," Samuels suggests.


     




     
     
     

    It'll make for a great story


     

    Wedding day disasters may not seem funny in the moment, but one day you'll love telling your children — or, heck, anyone who will listen — the epic story of how you battled a big storm on your wedding day to your grandchildren, Samuels says. "Everyone loves a good story, and if hurricane winds ripped your wedding arch down or a torrential downpour caused your updo to go south or makeup to melt, you can be the hero of the story that persevered and loved every moment of it, the good, the bad and the ugly."


     




     
     
     

    Your flowers could last longer


     

    You can't wait to see your centerpieces, only to find that when you've arrived to your tented reception, they've succumbed to the heat and wilted. But that won't happen on a rainy day, says Rhae Adams, owner and lead designer of Found in Nature in Kansas City. "Flowers are less likely to wilt in rainy conditions," she says. "Overcast skies, cooler temperatures and humidity all generally make flowers happier than sun, heat and dry air."


     




     
     
     

    Rain gives you an excuse to cuddle


     

    As Nicole Harris, co-founder of One Last Frog in Southern California, reminds us, "rain is romantic." Think of it this way: A light drizzle or a huge downpour will encourage you to cuddle close to your new spouse under the same umbrella — or find fun ways to warm one another up or dry one another off! Plus, Harris says, "the patter of the rain on umbrellas and the windows is the sweetest sound you'll hear, and is a sound that is associated with romance."


     




     
     
     

    You could see a rainbow


     

    What comes at the end of an awful storm? "If it rains and the rain stops, the perfect rainbow backdrop can be created," says Harris. And, she adds, "it's free of charge, thanks to mother nature." Who doesn't love free decor?


     




     
     
     

    You can say bye-bye to that stuffy nose


     

    If you suffer from seasonal allergies, the last thing you may want on your wedding day is hot, sunny skies — the perfect conditions to kick your allergies into high gear and turn your nose and eyes red, says Adams. "Rain reduces airborne pollen," she explains, "so if it's allergy season, you and your wedding party will feel better."


     




     
     
     

    It could be good luck


     

    Maybe in your mind, rain on your wedding day is the worst thing that can happen. A sign, if you will, that you have really bad luck. But, says Samuels, "in some cultures, rain on your wedding day is considered good luck, symbolizing fertility and cleansing. So whether you are superstitious or just prefer to look on the bright side, think of it this way: Who couldn't use a little good luck on their big day?"

    1) Why are you worth the amount you charge?



    There are many reasons we charge the rates we do, some of which are quite obvious: all of our photographers have many years of experience and many, many weddings under their belts, we offer full resolution images with full reproduction rights, we use very expensive equipment, we edit the photos ourselves – each of the photographers edit the photos from the wedding, their own and the second-shooter’s; then there are the “hidden” costs, like having a beautiful lounge in most hotels we work with, having to pay all the additional people involved in the process of organizing photography and cinematography for a wedding – our colleagues at the Call Center, our Wedding Planners that meet the bride and groom in the hotel and help plan and organize the whole experience etc.


     



     

    2) Do you shoot natural light or artificial light? Or both?



    All of our photographers in DreamArt, myself included, are comfortable shooting both. We do prefer using natural light whenever possible and as late as possible, but we also always look for opportunities to be creative with off-camera flash, or complement that available light with a little fill from our flashes. We also use flash to create better quality photographs when there is an actual need for the extra light – like during a reception where there isn’t much light or the light is in all different and weird colors.


     




     

    3) Do you back up your files online just in case of a fire? Do you have backup equipment?



    We actually have several backup plans in place at all times. First off, we download the photos to the photo lounge in the hotel the same day we take them. Second, we have a NAS in place in our main office, where everything gets copied to, then there is the Online Gallery, where our brides can actually access and download their photos at all times. We also keep our photos for a minimum of eight months, most of the time much longer than that.


     




     

    4) Will I get a high resolution DVD?



    We actually give the Full Resolution images (between 20 and 40 megapixels’ resolution), which is perfect for doing both large prints – we regularly print our photos in 18*12 inches – and also larger or smaller things too, like huge canvas prints or just regular 6*8 inch prints. We also give our photos on USB and online. Both versions are the full resolution files.


     




     
     

    5) How do you make us feel relaxed for the photographs, especially when posing?



    Both myself and all of my colleagues have extensive experience working with people, from all walks of life, and we also have photographed quite a few weddings (I photographed over 150 weddings). Also, we all come from different parts of the world, so, if nothing else, our quirky accents will make you laugh.


     




     

    6) What is your shooting style? Do you focus on storytelling?



    We pride ourselves in capturing your special day with all the possible details, storytelling being the main focus. It will be a combination of both photojournalism and some posed shots (especially the group shots and some of the bride and groom). We tend to be as unobtrusive as possible so as to be able to capture all those natural, genuine moments that cannot be posed and planned for, nor repeated. We only take center stage when we need to organize a specific shot.


     



     
     

    7) Will you help us with the planning of photos and video for the wedding day?



    Yes. The most important things for us are for the bride and groom to first, have a great time and not worry about anything, and second for their photos to be as beautiful as possible. Since we live here and know what light is better, how long it takes to move from one place to the next inside the hotels, what can end up taking longer than initially thought etc. we do our best to help you plan accordingly, so that you take advantage of the best places with the best possible light and with all the time you have with your photographers and videographers. It happens often for a bide to come to the interview with our Wedding Planners with a specific timeline in mind or even written down, and leave with a very different schedule after that meeting. We try to have the photographer present during that interview, or at least have several questions and ideas written down by our Wedding Planners and communicated to the photographer.


     




     

    8) What happens if you get sick on my day?



    We are very lucky in the sense that we always have someone that can take over if needed.



    The benefit of working with such a talented team for such a long time (there are around 40 photographers in DreamArt, and we have been working together for the past 3 years, or more) is that if you were to have a situation where you really can’t attend a wedding, one of your colleagues could take your place easily. This is something that hardly ever happens, and it has never happened to me personally.


     



     

    9) What happens if it rains?



    This is an important question, because most brides would think their photos and video would be ruined if this happens. This is actually not the case. There are some photographs that can only be done on a rainy day, with rain as a backdrop. We always make the best of any situation and rain is just that: a different situation. There is always a Plan B in terms of where your cocktail or reception will take place, in case of bad weather, and we also I have also offered couples an hour of two of extra time on a different day so we can get photos with the beautiful Caribbean Sea in the background, rather than just rain.

    The getting ready shot. This one’s a classic! Get photos of the groom and groomsmen tying their bow ties, buttoning their vests, and donning their suit jackets. Make sure to capture the groom helping the ring bearer with his attire. So precious!


     




     
     
     

    The Chair Pose


     

    The chair pose. Guys and recliners have a history, right? You can mimic that connection by having the groom sit in a stuffed chair with his guys posed around him.


     




     
     
     

    The Superhero shot


     

    We love it when the guys in the wedding party wear superhero secrets under their wedding dress code, then pose with a few buttons undone to reveal the superhero symbols underneath. If they’re wearing superhero cufflinks, too…even better!


     




     
     
     

    The Groomsmen Pose


     

    Have the guys throw some sunglasses on and strike their coolest pose while the groom does the shoulder-brush attitude.


     




     
     
     

    The Cowboys


     

    The cowboys. Have the wedding party bring a hat. Dress down to the vests and put on your cowboy gear. If there’s a horse available, have the groom saddle up and pose with the groomsmen nearby. You can bring in other props like hay bales and rope, too


     




     
     
     

    The Stunt Doubles


     

    The stunt doubles. If you have a group of athletic guys in the wedding party, have the groom stand with his hands in his pockets or however he’s comfortable while the groomsmen chose to pose, jump, flip, or otherwise try to harness their inner stunt man.


     




     
     
     

    The Party Shot


     

    The party shot. A lot of guys enjoy a beer or cocktail, especially at a wedding. Get a photo of a toast with just the guys, or a candid shot of the guys laughing and enjoying a drink together.


     



     
     
     
     

    The Hollywood Stroll


     

    The Hollywood stroll. Have the groom take the lead in a casual stroll with his guys. The groom can wear sunglasses to stand out in the crowd and look more “Hollywood.” This is a natural and fun type of photo to capture.


     




     
     
     

    The Smoking Pose


     

    The smoking lounge. Break out the cigars and pose around a card table while you all enjoy them.


     




     
     
     

    The Bro Hugs


     

    The bro hugs. Even guys have to have some tender moments on the wedding day. Capture the groom giving his groomsmen bro hugs. These will be among the best shots of the day, we guarantee it!


     




     
     
     

    The Selfie Shot


     

    The selfie shot. There’s no avoiding cellphones these days. Why not incorporate them into your wedding photos? Have the guys each take a silly selfie and then pose with everyone holding their phone out towards the camera.

    We all wish to have a something that makes us relive the excitement of one of the most important days of our lives, something that lasts long enough to show our grandchildren.
     
    What better way to have a tangible memory on hands than a unique Luxury Book, stylish and fully personalized. And all that Made in Italy.
     
     

     
     
    Every wedding is unique and has its special moments and highlights, that is why, I always make one-of-a-kind Luxury Book.


     

    "I truly love my job"


     

    Designing such an important Book is a great responsibility, that is why I put all the love and care as if it is for myself.
     
    The Young Book (my personal favorite) comes in a beautiful box, which can be personalized with a choice of texture and available colors. There are hundreds of combinations to make it perfect just for you. Also, inside the lid of the box, we can write a phrase and place one of the most significant photos of that special day.
     

     

     
    In case the couple can't decide over the many color combinations, and if they allow me, I present a beautiful combination considering details I see on the wedding photos, I get inspired by bridesmaids' dresses, groom's tie, bridal bouquet, decoration, theme colors, among other details. I usually come up with at least two choices for each the album's exterior design and the box.
     
    When designing the interior of the Luxury Book, I choose one of the most stunning photos of the wedding, and then I continue to display the photos in order just as that day went (getting ready, ceremony, family photos, session with bride and groom, and the party)






     

    In the Young Book, when you open it, the display is lay-flat, allowing a panoramic view (for example, a group photo can be 60x20 cm size), which allows to see perfectly the faces of every single person on the photo.
     
     
    Most of our costumers love my designs at first sight, and I rarely get asked for a few changes. Of course there have been a few exceptions, but I can say that 80 percent of the times I succeed with the design.
     
    Once the Luxury Book gets the newlyweds' approval, I send it to production to Italy. The album will get home directly from Italy.
    My greatest satisfaction, once the wedded couple have already received their wedding album, is to know through them that every dollar they spent was definitely worth it.



    The Luxury Book is truly the best wedding back up.

    Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
     
    While we will not insist on you hiring us, since that should be a personal decision, based on factors such as budget and, most importantly, loving your photographer's work, we will stress how important it will be in the long run to have these memories captured by a professional. You WANT to have a photographer.
     

     
    I have had friends inviting me to their weddings, but, as a guest you just can't possibly be as alert and permanently on the lookout as when you are hired to document a wedding, so I always let them hire their photographers, and I can just complement that with whatever I capture from a guest's perspective, or any cool ideas I might have, or moments when the photographer just isn't present etc.
     
    Regarding people liking or not liking our work, I can tell you that photography is very subjective, so you should see the work of the photographers you consider hiring, both a portfolio of their best work and, just as important, a few real weddings - as in a selection of 50-100 photos that comprise all the wedding day, letting you see how good a storyteller they are, not just how many good shots they got over 100 weddings.
     
    As DreamArt Photographers, we strive to have our brides as happy as possible. We make sure we get a lot of input from them, before the wedding, so we can adapt and consider their personal tastes and any ideas they might have, or any special requests. Also, we keep working with the bride throughout the delivery process, so the photos end up being edited just the way they envisioned.
    We, at DreamArt, consider Quality to be more important than quantity. So, while you might get "more photos" form other providers, or "an album" or "all your original unedited photos", the actual value of those perks, is relative - and sometimes you will realize that having 3000 photos, out of which 2000 are either repeats of the rest, or photos where the flash didn't fire, eyes are closed etc, is going to be more of a headache than just having 500 great photos, edited to your taste.
     
    The albums. We don't include an album in our packages, because we make custom, hand crafted albums, which are made to order in Italy. Every bride is unique, so every bride should have the option of customizing an album to make it just the way they dream.

    After being part of the production of movies and reality shows, I found myself with the opportunity to participate in what would later become my Opera Prima, not only in production but also in the creation of the original score and, although a lot of International film festivals are coming up, I still felt like something needed some polishing, that was photography. After evaluating several options, I decided to apply for a job at DreamArt Photography.
     

     
    From the moment I started, I haven't stopped learning from the best, from great talents that DreamArt photography is made of.



    Does it get boring? Never!


     

    I have fun even in the hardest moments, I've seen it all. For example, there was this time when the bride didn't like the cake, and from that moment, everything changed, guests started to get tense and nobody was comfortable. Meanwhile, the groom was trying to distract her from that issue by telling her to look around and realize how magical is the place they are at, Playa del Carmen.
     
    The wedding meets several requirements, one of them is to keep record of every aspect that happens there.
     

     
    A magical affair that happens every single time. It all begins when knocking on the door, without having the slightest idea of who is at the other side, that is a breaking point, and that is the moment when everything starts to happen.
     
    Both the photographer and the filmmaker must be aware of everything that is going on around them.



    Every wedding is unique.


     

    There are times when I wonder, why don't I have a third camera with me? There are some unexpected situations that just happen, for example, there was this time when I got to be in a Gospel wedding, everybody was singing with such an impressive passion, there was choreographed dancing, all with an atmosphere of solemnity.
     
    That enthusiasm can't be found at all the weddings.
     
    The challenge the photographer has is to capture the moment, even the hard ones and the difficult ones, every unique moment must be captured, because those are the memories that will prevail. The point is to keep record, even if the bride remembers that on that day she got mad because the cake wasn't right, that photo must exist. Having the moment captured is the photographer and the filmmaker's task.

    Let's face it, after an exhausting wedding and two weeks on honeymoon, reality hits you back when you realize you have fifty or more thank you notes to handwrite!
     
     
    Pre-printed thank you notes? Tacky right? So you turn around asking for help with this unmanageable task.
     
     
    Well, I just came up with this really cool idea with my colleague at Dream Art Photography. It's called "Guest Book."
     

     
    The Guest Book it's a tiny little version of your custom Made in Italy Wedding Book (like a Hallmark card but so much better).
     
    I can't imagine a better way to say "Thank you for celebrate our happiness with us" than a compilation of all the emotions of that day captured and held in this little book of love.
     

     
    Why write a Thank You note when you can show gratitude.
