  1. Fear not, I believe Javier is your on site coordinator! Javier was the coordinator for our wedding last year. I worked with him for about a year prior to the big day and I had the opportunity to meet him when we arrived at the resort. I think there was a shift about 2 years ago that moved planning away from Miami and into the hands of each resort instead. With that said, there is an on site team that handles the actual set up so you will be handed over to them once you arrive.
  2. Hi Diane, I am SO, SO sorry for the delaying in responding. I had some issues signing into my account to respond. Unfortunately, the fans and ribbon wands have been sold. I apologize for not updating this posting. I updated my kijiji ad but forgot all about my post on bestdestinationwedding.com. Both items were originally from Oriental Trading company if that helps you at all. I hope your wedding planning is going well and my delay in responding has no cause any additional stress for you. : ) Please note, the raffia fans, ribbon wands and OOT bag items have been sold. All other items are still availble. Offers welcome!
  3. Hi UKbride. Good news, I think there must have been a miscommunication! I married at the Azul in March and had 16 guests. We ended up using the ballroom instead of Plaza Zavas due to questionable weather but I brought sheers, table runners, chair bows, fans, candle holders, etc. and was charged $250US for setup. $2000 does not seem right. Maybe there was some confusion and they quoted the rentals AND setup instead of just setup. Hopefully, an email back to clarify results in a much lower price for you. Please note though that I don't think they commit to a setup only fee until you are on site and they've had the opportunity to review all of your items. Good luck with your planning!
  4. Congratulations! So glad you had such a special day! Just out of curiosity, what did they charge you to extend your reception?
  5. We happily celebrated our marriage at the Azul Sensatori in Mexico on March 7, 2017. I was a major DIY bride and was always on the hunt for good deals and great DIY wedding decor ideas. A huge thanks to all brides, past and present, on the bestdestinationwedding.com forum! Now that we’re back, it’s time to put my office back in order and pass along some of my extra wedding stock. I know as a Canadian bride, it was sometimes difficult to purchase items online as shipping costs were often astronomical. Also, sometime you just need a few more of something and the retailer only sells by the dozen or your local store is out of stock. I remember where I purchased everything as well and am happy to share this information with any buyers in case they need a few more of something down the road or want to colour match! I live in Oshawa, Ontario and can arrange to meet local buyers for pickup or arrange for shipping (at buyer's cost). If you require further information about items or measurements, please email me at lperrier@hotmail.com. I am willing to negotiate prices if bundling several items. DECOR Raffia Hand Fans - $1.00 each 8 - Brand new still with tags 9 - New but with cornflower blue ribbon and white real touch orchid Additional orchids are available. If blue is your wedding colour, some of your DIY work is already done! If not, the ribbon can be removed and replaced to suit your colour scheme. All White Ribbon Wands - $0.50 each 8 - Brand new, never used We ordered white and added a cornflower blue ribbon to each of our wands to coordinate them with our wedding colours. I’m happy to tell you how. The ones for sale are brand new and all white. 12" Blue Chinese Lanterns with Built-In White LED Light - $1.50 each 9 - Brand new, never used, still in original packaging Require two AAA batteries Clear 3 Tier Acrylic Mini Cake/Cupcake Stand - $20.00 Used once but like new Dimensions are as shown in the photo We used this at our wedding to display at small top tier for cutting then mini cakes on the other two tiers. Clear Acrylic Cake Cutting Set - $10.00 set Used once by like new Stainless steel with decorative handles I added white and blue ribbon to the handles. The white ribbon cuff is still in place but I removed the blue ribbon as it had icing on it. Can be easily customized to tie into your wedding motif. OOT BAGS We started buying OOT bag items before our RSVPs were finalized and as a result, ended up with some extra stock. Travel Size First Aid Kits - $1.00 each 9 - Brand new, still in original packaging Travel Size Advil (10 count) - $1.50 each 8 - Brand new, still in original packaging Travel Size Aloe Vera Gel (100ml) - $1.50 each 7 - Brand new, never used APPAREL Rhinestone "Bride" Shirt- $10.00 Rhinestone decal 4" high x 8" wide White v-neck, women’s size 1X Worn once, freshly laundered Tuxedo Shirt - $10.00 Black t-shirt, men’s size L Worn once, freshly laundered We wore these on our plane ride to Mexico. Other passengers thought they were great and we received lots of “congratulations” from random strangers. Ardene Sandal with Jewel Detail - $10.00 Brand new, never worn Size 8 These were my “backup” pair in case of a shoe emergency and were luckily never needed! Rhinestone Necklace & Earring Set - $10.00 Necklace worn once, clip-on style earrings not worn This costume jewelry set really sparkles and looks great on! I wore the necklace on my wedding day and received lots of compliments. I didn’t wear the earrings as I had a set gifted to me by my fiancé that I knew he wanted to see my wearing on our special day.
  6. Hi there. I am just east of Toronto (Oshawa to be precise!). I just had my white, bling and sky/cornflower blue wedding on March 7th in Mexico and will be selling off some items soon. Not chair sashes but other items like raffia fans, chinese lanterns, frames, etc. You may be interested in some items. Let me know what you may be looking for.
  7. Overall, we had an amazingly heartfelt day and a super fun reception with our friends and family. While everyone we dealt with at the resort was super nice, I feel that the onsite wedding department dropped the ball several times. We also feel like there were several attempts to take advantage of us monetarily. Luckily, we still had a great time so I am refusing to let these things tarnish the experience. I plan to write a full, in depth review once I get settled back in.
  8. I am at the Sensatori right now and was married on March 7th, two days ago. I brought most of my own decor due to the ridiculous prices being charged by Lomas. We had two suitcases but it really wasn't that much stuff, just bulky. Table runners, chair bows, gazebo sheers, chinese lanterns, framed signs, candles, raffia fans for the ceremony and maracas for the reception. In the last 1.5 years of planning I had repeatedly heard $5 per person as a typical set up fee so for our group of 16, I assumed about $80 - $100 US for the setup. I couldn't believe it when they advised me just a few hours prior to my wedding that it would be $250 US. I tried to negotiate it down but they would not budge. Any other brides have this happen???
  9. @@annie271....Yes, I would still recommend weddingwire.com! I didn't end up using the budget function but instead used an excel spreadsheet where I could also track my to do list. However, the website was great for tracking my guestlist, RSVPs and I also do regular "update posts" for all guests to keep them informed. I also used the seating plan (so easy!) and just emailed a .pdf copy to the resort. Obviously, a website is only as good as the content you post but we have received rave reviews from our guests and it had WAY more visits than I ever imagined so it is obviously being used by our friends and family. I haven't used any others so I can only comment on my limited experience with the one site but it was super easy to use, looks greats and totally impressed our invitees. It gets, and continues to get, a glowing recommendation from me! I wish you the best during your research of possible destination wedding locations and resorts! It's one of the first (and hardest!) decisions but this website will be a invaluable to you as you work your way through the planning process.
  10. Hi there. Where are you from? Canadian and US brides have very different promotions. As a Canadian getting married at the Azul Sensatori, I received very little from the resort itself. Even had to pay for the "free" basic package. Their argument is that we see the savings in the packages offered by our tour operators (Sunwing, Transat, etc.). Apparently, our combined flight/hotel/transfers savings are substantial so we lose the right to free cocktail parties, etc. I would highly recommend that you find a GI Certified Travel Agent as they seem to have access to additional promotions. I had my travel agent chosen before deciding on a resort so I didn't have that advantage. She's been fabulous though so I'm not too concerned on what I might have missed out on. LOL
  11. I can't believe there's only three and a half weeks until our wedding day!!! Most of my to-do list is done with the exception of last minute items or things I am still on the hunt to buy, but that if I can't find, is no biggie. No stress!!! I started to haul out my decor, favours and OOT bag items and was a little overwhelmed by the volume of stuff. Not that I bought a lot but it sure does add up quickly! I thought I might have one suitcase of wedding stuff but I think it will more likely be two. That's a little stressful but many of you have done this before, so obviously it can be done! My biggest priority right now is slowly getting organized but also trying to plan a little R&R and non-wedding related couples activities before we leave. The wedding has consumed so much of my life the last year and a half, that I think it's important to reward ourselves with some non-wedding downtime. I've also been trying to access the Sky Deck webcam so that I can share the instructions with guests of ours that were not able to travel with us. I was successful.....once. I sure hope it works on the big day. Are there any previous brides that have experience with this? Is there anyone else getting married at the Azul Sensatori in early to mid March? Any last minutes advice or tips from previous brides? Javier has been my wedding coordinator too. I don't have any major complaints. He's been very pleasant to deal with. I think sometimes he gets me confused with other brides he's dealing with a suggests things we've already discussed but that's hardly a big complaint. I think they've done away with the Miami office so the wait times for responses are very reasonable. Good luck with your planning!
  12. Dear past Azul Sensatori Brides, Did any of you use real tealights for the guest tables at Plaza Zavas and did you have any issues with them being blown out by the breeze? We are using LED's for the paper lanterns and luminaries around the pool (i.e. where the light source is not visible) but were hoping to use real tealight candles on the tables. I have some tealights that come with glass bases but the sides aren't near tall enough to provide any kind of wind protection. I really don't want to lug down a case of taller clear holders to place the tealights in. My Karisma wedding planner suggested the LED's which are fine when the candle is not in plain view but look cheesy if you can see the fake candle flame. I have my fingers crossed that another bride had luck with their candles staying lite. (Obviously, if Mother Nature decides to deliver hurricane force gales that night there is nothing we can do. Just wondering what the chances are under "typical" conditions.)
  13. OMG! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU Ashhtayy! You just gave me a TOTAL comfort level with our decision to go with a DJ. We've received the massive excel file and song list but haven't had a chance to go through it in detail yet (next on the to do list). On a cursory glance, we were concerned that it was missing alot of songs we like. We were also toying with the idea of loading up a USB to hand over and knowing you did the same makes me feel SO much better. I've been waffling on the decision for ages now - cost savings vs. hassle. I feel much better that the cost is worth it to avoid any additional stress and work for us. Since I couldn't find any reviews, I was just afraid he'd play lame music and it would be a disaster. Though, I keep trying to remind myself that DJs are professionals and they know what gets the crowd dancing and what doesn't. Hearing your first hand account gives me peace of mind. Thank you! Did you meet with him ahead of time or just trust that with your completed song sheet, all would work out fine? (Our group is older and more into rock, not really a Beyonce type crowd so I want to make sure they know this.) You are officially my favourite person of the day today!
  14. Hi everyone! We have a small group travelling with us to Mexico in March and have designated one of the central bars as a great hang-out/meet-and-greet spot for any guests that feel like socializing. I was just wondering if any past brides have left a basket filled with boredom busters (i.e. decks of cards, crosswords, games, brain teasers, etc.) in a basket at one of the bars for their guests to use while at the resort. I know there is a risk other resort guests might "borrow" items or they may "walk away". I thought maybe a sign on it indicating it was for "guests of XXX wedding" and ensure that the cost of items is relatively low (i.e. total value of $15) in the event it goes missing. Thoughts?
  15. My fiancee and I were originally planning to do an ipod wedding for our small group to save on costs. However, we changed our minds and decided to go with a DJ after all as we don't think we have the time to put together a playlist and no one in our group is tech savvy enough to jump in if there are any ipod problems at the reception. We've selected DJ Max through Karisma but haven't been able to locate any reviews whatsoever. Are there any past Karisma or Azul brides that used DJ Max and have comments? FYI - We are a bit of an older group that likes classic rock, etc. Any feedback (no matter how brief!) would be greatly appreciated!
  16. It's actually on top of Building #3 in the centre of the resort. If you Google the Azul Sensatori resort map, you will see a little icon that looks like a pair of wedding rings.
  17. I will be getting married at the Azul Sensatori in March 2017 and also having difficulty finding any information on the two Lomas DJs. Thank you for asking the question!
  18. Welcome Kristyn! I see you are an Azul Sensatori March 2017 bride as well. Yeah! And from Canada too!!! This is a awesome site chalk full of great advice, tips, DIY ideas and information. You'll be so happy you found it. Enjoy the wedding planning journey!
  19. Thank you Janjin. Yes, I figured I would use font colour or something like that to delineate the meal choices I just wasn't sure if the maraca would end up close enough to the person for the serving staff to figure out what they were having. However, since I do plan to have assigned seats, I can do as you did and just give a list to my WC. Never even thought of that! LOL I think I may also do small favour boxes with sweets and label it with each guest's name coded for meal choice. Thanks for the advice! I see that you were married at the Azul Sensatori!! That's where we're getting married as well!!! I hope your special day was everything you dreamed it would be. If you have any advice, please feel free to share!!!
  20. Hi Everyone, After several months of idea gathering, I am just starting to do up designs for the various paper goods (welcome letter, escort cards, signage, etc.) for my wedding in Mexico next March. I have a few ideas for escort cards to get guests to the correct table (leaning towards the maracas, tequila shots or drink umbrellas), but am lacking any ideas of how convey to the serving staff which meal selection that guest has made. I assume I should have a stationary name place card at each table setting but am not sure how to present it so A. it won't blow away and B. so it will stay put and not be moved by the guest. Any creative ideas ladies?
  21. Hi fellow brides! I was wondering if anyone knew if the standard reception tables come with charger plates? I know when you get a private dinner it comes with like round tables and chairs covered with white cloths/covers and then all dishes but I wasn't sure if a charger plate comes with it too underneath the regular plates. Does anyone know? And if so, do you have any pictures? Thanks so much! -Sarah @sarahjayne - I don't believe that chargers are included. I think I saw $10 each as a rental price on Ashhtayy's planning thread.
