  1. This is SO sweet! I absolutely love that there were pictures taken of it happening - a beautiful moment Congratulations!!!!
  2. Here are some of my engagement photos! I won't post all of them, but I love them so much!! My photographer did a great job., even though it was bleeping cold outside that day, haha.
  3. Where is everyone getting their centerpieces? I live in the middle of no where Canada, so I'm waiting until I go to Edmonton to look for things. I am NOT a DIY kind of girl...I don't have a creative bone in my body. Is there something decently priced that's already made, for a beachy wedding? Thanks.
  4. Look into Beso Brides. For airbrush makeup and hair they are $200. They seem really good.
  5. ^^ I thought the exact same thing. Pay for the wedding package and we were good to go. Hence why I thought it was a LOT cheaper than a wedding in Canada. Boy was I wrong! All the extras add up quickly! But it still is cheaper in the end, and like you said - a beautiful wedding at a great resort AND a honeymoon all in one. Congrats!!!
  6. Hope you find something you like and is within budget!! I completely agree with you - the top reason we went with a DW is to save money (since an average wedding in Canada can be anywhere from $15,000 - 25,000) but it's all adding up really fast! Doesn't help that I'm cheap, haha.
  7. Their salon is 2 hours away, so that won't be possible. Was just a thought - thanks.
  8. Ladies...I have a question...let me know if this would work?? Someone brought up a good point of meeting the hairstylist in the lobby the morning of my wedding and advising the lobby that they were a guest of the wedding, and that way I could just purchase a day pass ($65 as opposed to $250) Has anyone done this? Do you think it would work? Really looking to save money as I would rather not pay $600 for hair, makeup and vendor fees..haha.
  9. Haha I wish we had spring weather! Still really cold here! But yes, the snow did make a really nice backdrop, nice, white and clean looking. Except for the fact that I'm pasty white, I kind of blended in, haha!
  10. I spent every spare moment I had for a month straight reading this forum on reviews, researching the best wedding packages, how much extras cost, cost of travel for guests, etc. The best I came up with is any Riu resort. We ultimately decided to go with the Riu Caribe. All wedding packages are the same throughout Riu resorts though. Their largest package includes up to 40 people (most resorts I looked at only had up to 25...we are going to have more than 25 for sure). It is very decently priced (we originally wanted to go with Dreams Riviera but that was getting to be upwards of $2400/guest) It is NOT adult only, but it looks like it fits everything else you want...may be something to look into. Good luck - deciding on the resort is probably one of the hardest parts!
  11. I've hired PSAV for my wedding. The manager/coordinator, Carlos, has been a dream to deal with! He responds within minutes to any questions I have, gives me any info I need to know, and is very friendly. My wedding isn't for 13 months but he's already sent me a song sheet for what to play for first dance, father/bride dance, etc. He knows I'm eager and is happy to work with. And yes, like you said - much more reasonably priced. I'd recommend them
  12. So hard to decide on a final song...pretty sure I'm going with "From This Moment" by Shania Twain. It's always been one of my top first dance songs.
  13. I love pop and country music! "Happy" by Pharrell, "Uptown Funk" "Problem" Ariana Grande, any Luke Bryan or Brad Paisley, "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks is going to be my wedding party dance haha
  14. Our engagement photos were included in our wedding photography package (and our package, including travel is $3000) - guess we lucked out there! Our photographer is still relatively new (but is GREAT at what she does). Maybe try scouting out a new photographer to get a better deal? Our shoot was 1.5 hrs, all outside (COLD...I live in Yellowknife, and it is definitely still winter here, haha)
  15. Riu Caribe or Riu Cancun are both priced very decently and have great wedding pacakges.
  16. At the Riu, they take payment when you meet with the wedding coordinator (usually the day after you arrive, you meet with them)
  17. That's awesome!! How did you like the resort?
  18. Thanks for the input everyone! You're right, you can get away with breaking some rules with a DW.
  19. Riu Caribe Never been, but have read good things.
  20. I think we're at around $9000-10,000 for the wedding and receptoin at the Riu in Cancun. The package (for 40 guests) is $3000, the DJ is $2000 and a private reception including dinner and open bar is $50 per person. Then just have to factor in the photographer and hair/makeup. I'm hoping we won't go over $10,000, although I am very grateful my parents are helping us!
  21. Thanks for your input everyone!! It is pretty important to me to have my sisters stand for me. The one who CAN make it, I definitely want her to stand with me. And having the 2 grooms men walk her down the aisle is a cute idea!
  22. 2016 bride here as well (April) I bought my dress last month. Have the resort picked out and wedding date reserved. Sent the save the dates....will send invitations probably in the next 2 months to give people info and get people to start saving. Although DW are less work, it's still just as stressful!!
