  1. I ended up ordering these http://www.jcpenney.com/unisa-lorainy-glitter-t-strap-sandals/prod.jump?ppId=pp5005090622&catId=cat100240063&deptId=dept20000013&N=100330018&Nao=72&pageSize=72&pN=2&extDim=true&topDim=Categories&topDimvalue=sandals+%26+flip+flops&dimCombo=Categories|&dimComboVal=sandals+%26+flip+flops|&currentDim=Categories&currentDimVal=sandals+%26+flip+flops&N=100330018&_dyncharset=UTF-8&colorizedImg=DP0224201517020256M.tif Hope they look as good in person!!
  2. Welcome!! 10 months away, how exciting!! This forum has been BEYOND helpful to me, and all the girls here are fantastic. St.Thomas sounds beautiful
  3. Most resorts don't start planning anything with the bride until 3 months before the actual wedding. This could be why you're getting not the greatest responses. I also agree with the poster above - if you chose a specific package, there should just be stuff you need to finalize. As stressful as it is planning from a distance (and with someone who doesn't speak English as a first language), from everything I've seen on this board, EVERYTHING always comes together in the end. I don't think you should worry too much...easier said than done, I know
  4. You look gorgeous!! Makeup turned out wonderful! You make a gorgeous bride
  5. I had to pay the customs charge when I picked it up at Purolator; they just charged it to my credit card. And I THINK the bigger the order, the more you have to pay, but I honestly don't know how it works. Would be nice if it was just one flat rate! I have a few pictures of what I ordered too if you're interested in seeing them - let me know
  6. Hey there! It literally took only 5 days to get to my house, and I live in the Northwest Territories, so that's a far way to travel, haha. Everything turned out great, I love how everything looks in person. The pants fit a little bigger than they say, but it's an easy enough fix. Very decent prices; but we had to pay $60 in custom charges. I figure it's worth it, because we have absolutely no where to shop here. I would highly recommend them.
  7. I was going to use the Styling Trio, but with vendors fee, i twas going to end up being $700 total to get my hair and makeup done. I couldn't justify that. I asked my wedding coordinator and she suggested VO Evolution. My resort doesn't charge a vendors fee for them, and they are very affordable. I've looked at them online and they do an amazing job - and Natacha, the owner, has been a dream to deal with. Here's a link to their site - http://www.vo-evolution.com/
  8. Love this thread!! You're very organized and I enjoy following the process Cheers to another April bride, I'm April 15th, 2016!!
  9. Yup, been there already!! We got engaged Christmas Day and the SAME day, my uncle had the nerve to say we were selfish to expect people to use their hard earned vacation to come to our wedding and he thought it was rude of us to have a destination wedding. Excuse me? First of all, thanks for saying that on the day we got engaged. Second of alll, it's our freaking wedding - if you have that attitude, I don't even WANT you to come. My best friend has been pretty rude about the whole thing too. I honestly think she's just bitter about me getting married in general (she's in a crappy relationship and she's a few years older so feels she "should" be getting married before me, etc). She's made it clear that she's probably not going to come and it really hurt at first, but I honestly don't really care anymore. As long as my fiancé and immediate family are there, anyone else that comes is just a bonus! It's our day and we're doing what makes US happy.
  10. Thank you!! I was scared it wouldn't go together (since I couldn't see it beforehand) but I like the way the grey pairs with the coral! That way he'll match the bridesmaids And yes, kitty was very interested! haha
  11. Here's how the outfit turned out - very lightweight and comfortable - I love it
  12. Fair enough! I live in the middle of no where (ie: no shopping), so I would've paid shipping no matter what - but if you can save on shipping, you definitely should! haha
  13. Congrats!! One of the hardest decisions is picking the resort....now you can breathe, since that's done
  14. I got a great suggestion to order from islandimporter.com. Great options for linen, cotton and silk. Ordered the guys outfits from here yesterday, will post pics of how they look when they arrive!
  15. I ordered hubby's outfit from Islandimporter.com yesterday, thanks to the suggestion from this site! I can't wait to see how he looks in it - I ordered the grey linen pants, grey linen vest and a coral dress shirt to match our wedding colors. Thank you for the suggestion!!!
  16. Any of the Riu properties I would suggest. They have great wedding packages and very budget friendly! I'm getting married at Riu Caribe next April. It's about 30 mins from Cancun airport. Congratulations on your engagement!!!
  17. The plan is to go to my sister's house (Edmonton) for a week after, just so we don't have to go back to work immediately after the wedding. Save money and still get a mini-vacation
  18. I miscalculated, it would be $4000, but still, a big(ger) chunk of money.
  19. This is airfare included. I'm in Canada, so it's airfare, and the whole package (hotel, food, alcohol, etc). But yeah I think we will wait and do a honeymoon later in the year.
  20. Thanks guys! Just wasn't sure if we were the only ones who couldn't put out another $5000 for a week, haha (granted, some places are cheaper than others, but it adds up fast) We are putting on our gift registery that people can give money towards the travel agency we're using as a gift, so who knows, maybe we will be able to stay longer.
  21. Just curious as to how long everyone is going to your resort for your wedding. We would ideally like to do 2 weeks, but that would be an extra $5000 for the two of us. With the cost of the wedding and our travel, we're only able to realistically manage 1 week there. I think that will be a good amount of time, but everybody keeps saying "You're ONLY going for 1 week? it's your wedding, splurge!!!" Well, we'd like to, but the wedding will be at least $10,000. $5000 is a lot of extra money to pay to stay for 7 days...just curious what everyone else was doing.
  22. Sounds like your day was AMAZING. You looked stunning and I'm happy it was everything you wanted. Thanks for sharing
  23. Thank you for your review!! I am getting married at Riu Caribe (not the same resort obviously, but same wedding packages, options, etc) so it was helpful to read that! Congrats on your big day
  24. Oh this makes me so happy!! I booked PSAV for my wedding! I was unsure, as there's no reviews out there (like you said), but thank you so much for your feedback! THis makes me even more excited
