  1. Scott and I got engaged on January 11, 2014. He made my heart melt with what he wrote for our wedding website... "Since the day I met Casey I just knew she was the one. You know how people say, “there is just something about her that I can’t explain”…well that was not the case. Being around her was so comfortable that we immediately became best friends. I was over the moon for this beautiful, sweet, kind, amazing woman. As we got to know each other I realized I found the person I was meant to be with, a partner for life, the mother of my children and my best friend. When I am with Casey I feel there is nothing I cannot accomplish. We support each other in every way through trust and encouragement. As a couple we are adventurous, passionate and playful. We bring out the best in one another and I find myself laughing more since she has been a part of my life. We both strive to sustain a healthy, loving, emotional and physical relationship. I loved this girl and I knew I was going to ask her to marry me. The only question was how. I wanted to make the proposal romantic, creative and something that we would never forget. I confided in a few of her friends to help me pull everything off. Casey and I both enjoy drinking wine and had spent some time on wine tours and it was a very romantic setting. I decided that I was going to plan the proposal at one of our favorite vineyards. I called the vineyard ahead of time and let them know that I was going to propose. I contacted the band that was scheduled to play that day and they agreed to learn our song. I then called a company and had custom t-shirts made that spelled out “will you marry” and then one with just “me?” on it. Her friends then suggested a relaxing day at the vineyard for some wine tasting and the plan was in motion. The day of the proposal we arrived at the vineyard and began to enjoy our day. We eventually made our way outside to listen to the band and enjoy the weather. We found a place by the band to sit and I nodded to the band as that was their queue to start playing our song. The people wearing the shirts started making their way out of the building. Casey was so into the song that she didn’t even notice them. As the song ended, I had her turn around to face me. Everyone in the shirts was lined up behind me. She saw the line of people that spelled out “WILL YOU MARRY” and then I ripped my shirt open and it said “ME?” I dropped to one knee and asked her to marry me. With tears in her eyes and her hands shaking, she said yes! " I was fortunate enough to actually get a video of the engagement. Here is the link to the video. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4208YlOWwjTVUZ5NWhaTjZQOG8/edit?usp=sharing We both knew that we wanted a destination wedding. We would be having family traveling from Dallas, Austin, Maryland, England, New Zealand and thought that bringing everyone together in Mexico to celebrate would be the perfect scenario. And so the planning began.....
  2. @@talicea7812 Is there another way to view your pics? I don't have enough posts
  3. @@endiz A lot of my family lives in England and it was much cheaper for them to book the hotel and flight through a company there. I will call tomorrow and find out name of company. My TA said she's heard of it and it's a big company that flies to Mexico a lot.
  4. Has anyone ever used Lunic or James through Sarani for their photos? If so what were your thoughts? We decided to go through Sarani which I am SO excited about, but needing to decide on James or Lunic. Thanks
  5. Hi ladies I know I keep going back to the whole sheers issue but I'm trying to go back through the forum to find posts about it and the forum is so long that it is taking forever. I don't know much about 'sheers' and am finding out there are different fabrics. Does anyone know which type of fabric is in most of the wedding pics? Thanks! Casey @@lolita2014 I was having the same issue about guests saying they were coming and not booking their room. Still my FI's brother is telling him weekly that he is going to book and has yet to do so. Our block was up March 14th but they can still book rooms, just not guaranteed rate. It was stressing me out so much that I just had to let it go and told myself.....if they book, they book. If they don't, our wedding day will still be amazing as we have so many other ppl traveling to celebrate with us. We ended up having a good handful of ppl book that we didn't think would, so that helped with our room block. However, I can understand the stress of your FI mom not booking yet. Hope things work out for you!
  6. @@Jennypert We are using DJ all music and out Miami WC sent us this whole packet/form to fill out for the DJ and we have to submit 45 days before wedding. You put all info for introducing bridesmaids and groomsmen, how we want to be announced, our first dance, songs during cake cutting, etc. who is doing toasts and when, music during dinner and music during reception. Did the WC send you a packet for your DJ? If you are having trouble emailing your Miami WC maybe calling would help. Before I had another Miami WC and she wouldn't respond to my emails and I called her and very first ring she answered. I had so many questions that I was able to quickly ask instead of waiting weeks for answers. So that might be helpful of you're stressing. You're wedding is coming up fast! So excited for you
  7. @@atyson03 Another bride told me she got hers at fabric land. I'm going to try and find an online store so I can just order them. If anyone else knows of an online store to buy sheers let me know. Thanks!
  8. Scratch that last question. Found the measurements in another bride's blog....2 sheers at 12m x 1.5m each.
  9. Hi Ladies I am wanting to buy sheers for the ceremony on the beach and wanted to see if anyone knows what size the sheers need to be. Thanks!
  10. @@kaleighMCL About the sheers, I know you said they ended up being wrong size but...did you buy them for the sky deck or beach? Do you know the correct size the sheers need to be? Also, where did you buy your original ones from? Thanks!
  11. Hello all, I just posted this in another thread but thought I would pass on to brides who are sorting out flights.... We live in Austin and found some decent priced flights to Cancun. However, I looked more into the airlines and the extra fees were unreal. (Spirit airlines was one of them) There were fees for each bag checked, fees for a carry on and fees for choosing your seat. Also if you didn't add your booked bags at the time of purchasing your ticket and did it at the airport the cost shot up. Since I'm carrying on my dress and extra bags for decorations this was not going to work. So while the flight looked cheaper, in the end after all the fees about the same or more as big airlines. My dad called American Airlines and explained that we were having a wedding and lots of ppl would be flying. American set us up with a 5% discount code for all our guest flying to/from cancun. They can fly in from anywhere and not just austin. I even have family coming from England and New Zealand. Also they have us around a 2-3 week window of when ppl can fly and use that discount and not just 3/4 days. While 5% isn't a huge discount it is something and always helps.
  12. @@Jennypert I know it might be too late as your post was back in January....but about flights We live in Austin and found some decent priced flights to Cancun. 13. Could anyone tell me where they bought their sheers for the beach ceremony? And size? Thanks!
  14. @Lilgabri03 It's hard to say exactly the price in the room block. Each room type is a different price....and the time of year will also depend on the cost. We are going in July and for 3 nights/4 days in the luxury jac suite is $644 (might be a little less....going off memory) That also includes transportation to/from the airport. The always and forever wedding package is $950 but we have someone in out wedding group that has booked the required room so that our wedding is actually free. The wedding package also includes romantic candlelit dinner on the beach for 2, breakfast in bed the morning after, a 40 person dinner at spoon, and some other things. So if you are looking to do things cheaper you could do your reception dinner at spoon. We wanted a DJ so we decided to have our reception at Plaza Zavas. When we booked we went with destinationweddings.com and are working with Penny who is absolutely amazing. I would really reccomend this route to anyone. There are extra perks if you work with an agency. Example: We are getting a free room for every 11th room booked, a catamaran for 4 hours and up to 40 ppl, and then all our food/beg for private events at 20% off. So our reception dinner and rehearsal dinner will be 20% off. For 50 guests and the meal packages we chose, each dinner will be about 1,040. We are bringing our own sheeres, paper lanterns, lights and center pieces so set up fee is $250. Hair and makeup trial and day of is total 141 for hair and 141 for makeup. We chose the DJ package that is $1,500. All in all I would say just the expenses for the wedding (not including our hotel room, or dress, etc) is about 4k. But a reminder that we aren't having to pay the 950 for the wedding. Hope this helps
  15. Hello all. We are booked to have our wedding at the Azul Sensatori in July 2014. While I want to say things have been going great the communication with the off site wedding planners and managers have been extremely stressful. Most recent issue is that we put 200 on our credit card to book the wedding and they over charged us by $750. They have now admitted there was an over charge but we have still not been refunded the money and it's been 3 weeks since it was brought to their attention and we are now paying interest on the over charge. I was previously told by a manger we would have the refund on the card in a few days but nothing. Ive tried to email and call and our travel agent has also made multiple calls and nobody will call us back or respond. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I'm starting to question whether we should cancel our wedding here because of how things are being handled it makes me worry that they will continue to handle things this way. I don't want to cancel it as I have been really excited about having our wedding at the Azul but I just don't know what to do anymore.
  16. Did anyone use Caribe as their photographer? How did it turn out? I have been looking at the 2 photographers that are offered at the resort and I have no clue how many hours of photography we would need. We have ceremony and a reception after. I had considered 6 hours so as much as possible could be photographed but the price for matias for 6 hours is $1,000 more than Caribe. Any input on photographer or how many hours would be appreciated. Thanks!
  17. Thank you so much! Seeing a pic of the food was very helpful. Sounds like we will also be doing the massage.
  18. Hello all, I am getting married on 7/27/14 at the Azul Sensatori and came across this site...and all the advice and ideas are amazing!!! A few questions: -for the brides that already had their wedding, what flavor did you go with for the cake and what were your thoughts on the cakes? I'm finding it difficult to pick the desserts/food without having tried them first -Has anyone done the steak and lobster surf and turf and what were your thoughts? -did anyone do the 2 for 1 sky massage? -I saw the zocalo gazebo was redone. Does anyone know the height of the poles? We are wanting to bring our own lights to wrap around them and wasn't sure if it's a different height than before. -Is there a dress code for the restaurants? Thanks!
