  1. @@Janjin Thank you! I got the lanterns at Luna Bazaar. They are a little pricier than other online stores, but I purchased them while on sale so I got a great deal. The quality was great and they have so many color options.

@@ObeBride07 There was a lot of seaweed and I'll admit that we were somewhat disappointed with the beach. However, I expected this from reading many reviews about the resort. For me, the beach was less important than the exceptional service, great food and the beauty of the rest of the resort. The pools are also awesome!

  2. Thank you!! @ Carrieandsam @@linaco80

I ended up going with the spa for hair and make up. The trial went well and I was very happy with the results on the day of the wedding too. However, if I could do it again, I would have gone with an updo ( not their fault of course!). I have naturally curly hair and although it wasn't that humid, the wind and heat definitely caused my hair to frizz and bit.  I would request Angeles as she seemed to be most experienced. She was really sweet and was happy to make any changes I asked for.

  3. @@prater0420 you are very welcome!

I also brought 6 sets of string lights for the gazebo poles (25ft each), chair sashes for the ceremony and reception ( buy double if you plan to bring these with you as they don't move the sashes to the reception after the ceremony) and 36 paper lanterns in varying sizes. This all fit in one large suitcase and was well worth the haul. Everything looked so beautiful and I saved a ton of money!

  4. I think many do this. It may be a nice touch to choose a specific bar (zocalo terrace bar for example) and say in your program "informal cocktails at Zocolo terrace immediately following ceremony... This allows those that want to freshen up to sneak away, but provides a destination for others who want to mingle and have a bevy before the reception.

Thank you. That's a great idea!

Is Zocalo closer than Mojito? Do you think one would be better than the other?

  5. @@lewhitten I've decided to go with the hotel spa for my hair and makeup only because I can't afford to pay another vendor fee. BUT I'll  admit that I'm VERY nervous about this.  Past brides have said they do a great job and that they use MAC products so I'm hoping I don't regret it. I really wish I could see pics of their work ahead of time as I have NO idea what their work is like. :(

  6. Hi can anyone refer a good travel agent in the New York area. Because I'm dealing with an agent right now I feel that she's withholding information from us. Me and my fiancé went on the hotel website and it was the same price she was offering for the same dates. Is that common? I thought the rate through the agent is suppose to be less since its a group rate. Please help me understand this. Have anyone book for their wedding directly through the hotel?

Hi @@ismyrneg,They got me a great group rate and have been so wonderful to communicate with over the last year. I email with them at least once a week and sometimes several times a day and they always respond immediately. I have no regrets and recommend them highly!

  7. Any good coupons on Black Friday for the shopper brides?

I know wedding chicks is doing 30% but I think it can be better lol

I will get the trevis and keep hunting for more...anything you know PLEASE share we have until Monday to buy goodies for the welcome bags

@@carrieandsam planning to do it at the welcome party...also was thinking to welcome each guest as they come and give them the bag...it will be time consuming but I know each guest  will appreciate it (I would)

@@atyson03 I am looking at the Sanible on Bealls :)..will you place a wedding sticker on it or just leave it as is?

Hi, do you know the promo code for the wedding chicks 30% off deal? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

    Thanks! :)

  8. Hello Azul Sensatori brides!

What has your experience been with your wedding coordinators lately? I had been working with Lynda over the past 6 months and was pretty satisfied with her. Her response time was acceptable and she also seemed to understand my needs and update my details sheet quickly and accurately. Over the last month though ( ever since the changes they made) emails replies have taken 3 or more weeks and I am now working with several different people which is confusing and frustrating! I am fine with waiting a week....I understand how busy they must be, but with my wedding in 5 months, 3-4 wks to get a response to a simple question is just not ok. Have any of you experienced the same thing?

  9. Hi Everyone,

Just got married at Azul Sensatori on Friday. It was Fabulous! The weather was hot, rainy and humid but we had a great time. We had a Welcome Cocktail party on Thursday which was supposed to be on Zocalo Al Fresco but was set up on Zocalo Terrace due to a mis-communication with our Wedding Coordinator, Omar.

The on-site wedding coordinators, Omar, Antonio and Victoria are excellent. They work very hard with each bride to make their wedding events special.

It started raining during the Welcome Cocktail Party. Since Zocalo Terrace is outside next to the pool, the party was cut short. Since the weather was forecast for more rain on Friday, we asked Omar if we could move from Zavas Plaza to the large ballroom. It was a great decision. Omar and his staff hung up our Xmas lights and paper lanterns from the ceiling and made a beautiful 'starry' night inside, in the air conditioning.

@ Lolita2014 - during the June rainy season, the ballroom is definitely the best place for the reception. My 40 guests were able to eat, dance and party for four hours in privacy and comfort.

Back to the ceremony. We had it on the Sky Deck and it was spectacular! The clouds cleared up for a few hours just in time us. I only have a couple of pictures to post in the gallery but will post more when we get back from our honeymoon.

My guests had a fantastic stay at Azul Sensatori. They raved about the food at all of the restaurant, the service and swimming pools. The music from Mega DJ kept the reception party moving and dancing. The BBQ deluxe was an enormous amount of really good food. There was enough variety of exceptionally good food to satisfy everyone. The wedding cake was delicious! We had 3 layers with the bottom in chocolate, middle section in vanilla rum, top section in carrot cake and covered in butter cream. I thought we would have leftovers but people went back for seconds and thirds. Before I knew it, there was only a small piece left.

I will post a full review later but wanted everyone to know we had a great time. I want to give a special thank you to Angeles in the Spa who did my hair and makeup, Marcel from the Spa who trimmed my husband's hair and beard. I also want to thank Erika who acted as my personal assistant on my wedding day.

@@Jennypert CONGRATULATIONS! I'm so glad things went so well and that you and your guests had an amazing time! Can't wait to see more pics!

  10. @@rebepax Wow! It sounds like you had an amazing time. I'm so happy that you loved the resort...it makes me feel confident that I chose the right place for my wedding. :)

Thanks for the detailed review. Do you know how many guests are required in order to have the ceremony at the pier gazebo? I didn't realize there were 2 different beach gazebos and now I'm concerned that my ceremony wont be at the more private location. I'm going to have to confirm this with my wc because the last thing I want is a bunch of strangers in my photos!

Also, after reading your post, I'm reconsidering ordering a cake. I had read several posts from previous brides who said the cakes weren't good or very pretty and  I was so disappointed because I really want a cake but  didn't want to waste my money if they're really that bad. Thanks so much for this  VERY helpful info!!

  11. @@AngelaA Paying for a day pass and having your makeup artist come to your room to do your make up is a great idea. I would love to know if any other brides have gotten away with that! The concern I would have with this is that the hotel staff is probably very familiar with most local make up artists/vendors, so I doubt having them sneak in as regular guests will be easy unless your make up person isn't well known to the hotel. I can't afford to pay the vendor fee again either. Like you, I'm already paying it for my photographer so I'm  trying to find a way around it. I'm really worried about having my hair and make up done at the hotel.... I just don't know what kind of work they do. I wish my wc had before and after photos for me to see. Has anyone read any reviews about the onsite hair and make up artists?

  12. @@cocosho Thank you so very much for sharing this information! The pics are beautiful. I am so much more excited now! :)

    Hi Ladies,

This is only my second time posting :)

So we are all booked at The Azul for May 3rd 2015!! The thing is I really want to go on the Brides dress rehearsal and apparently your not able to if you have already booked your and paid the deposit for your wedding date... this is what my travel agent said, has anyone heard of this?

I love hearing all of your experiences... im originally from the UK but im not living in Vancouver, Canada so im trying to arrange guests coming from all over the place lol. Anyone else in BC, Canada?

    Thanks in advance!

    Gem :)

I wanting to take down my own table cloths and also mix and few of the memorable packages together, anyone know if this is possible... I doubting it but you never know lol.

@@reidbride2015 I'm already booked for my wedding (deposit paid) on 3/7/15, but my travel agent has invited me to the bride dress rehearsal so I'm not sure why you were told you couldn't go :(

  13. @@LaurenR  Hi! Did you guys enjoy the dress rehearsal? My FI and I are thinking about going in August. What exactly do you get to see and is there any final planning/scheduling that you can do while on site? We're just trying to get a sense of what to expect and how much we will actually get to see and do. We could also really use a little mini vacation before the big day so we were hoping to take advantage of the opportunity.

  14. @@raqpena Yep! Lynda sent me an excel spreadsheet to fill out and send back to her. It includes Introductions for the Bridal Party, how you wish to be announced, first dances, cake cutting song, bouquet toss song, the people giving toasts, dinner music and reception music. Pretty thorough.  It will hard to come up with all the songs!

oh good! I feel better about this idea already :) Thanks for the info!

@@lolita2014 If you're thinking about changing the time of your ceremony, make sure your photographer will have enough sunlight. My ceremony is at 5:30 and I was told the sun sets around 6pm. I was stressed about my photos so I asked my WC if I could move the ceremony up to 4:30pm instead. Unfortunately, she said she couldn't because there is another wedding before mine :(   I hope it works out!
