  1. hi ladies - i got married last june at El Patio - it is extremely hot. But, you basically just know this coming into it and accept it. I wouldn't have it at any other location, it's perfect! guests ended up changing into swim shorts and putting their hair up. i cant say its the most comfortable for a bride either - but you just go with it! it makes a destination wedding a destination wedding! and just a side note to remember to write down all of your decorations that you are bringing and be sure to collect them the next day -- i just received reimbursement this month for decorations of mine that have been circulating at other weddings on location, despite asking for them to just send it back to me several times. i was told they couldnt find them anymore, but i saw them on facebook after the fact... in terms of hair/makeup - their on site team is supposed to be great! i never used them, but would encourage it if you wanted! i recommend too if you are curling your hair to use "living proof curl defining style cream": http://www.sephora.com/curl-defining-styling-cream-P392503?skuId=1676030&icid2=_P392503_imagewhich will help with the humidity!!
  2. Just heard back from the new coordinator... Apparently, according to her, it is customary for many brides to "leave decorations behind" for it to be used for subsequent weddings... Though I realize this is entirely true, based on the conversations I previously had, I always thought my things were in the mail... Even after I found them on Facebook, they still didn't send them back... As a result, she said she "didn't know where they were" and would have to see if "they could even send them back". Great. Nice profit making... You win some you lose some I guess. Just things like this wouldn't happen here, wedding coordinators would be embarrassed if they were caught renting out items accidentally left behind...
  3. Just want to let you all know about an extremely frustrating situation I've been in over the last few months with the wedding department there. I purchased and brought ALL of my decorations for my wedding from the US (cost a lot to ship down plus buy them in the first place - figuring they could be reused)... my wedding coordinator packed it all up for me and brought them to my parents room two days later - a day after my husband and i left for my honeymoon. My parents left right then too assured that all decorations were there - they weren't. Our vases and table numbers were left behind, which ok, sucks, but they told us they would mail it to us immediately. Great for us because a cousin was going to use them for her wedding... It's February... my wedding was in June. Now I'm seeing my decorations on Facebook for other weddings. So basically, the items I paid for are now being turned into a profit for other weddings... That is so unbelievably frustrating - especially when I was assured they were mailed out time and time again. Our wedding was featured on 2 blogs and I gave a substantial amount of credit to the resort for their hard work... I really hate to feel lied to, especially when I feel like we gave them some more publicity. Regardless, all weddings deserve to have all of their items given back to them, and not turned into a profit.
  4. @@BreMarie - I think that we used that when we went to visit in late january, about 5 months before the wedding -- but yeah, there was some sort of deal worked out.
  5. @@BreMarie I haven't gotten my professional pics back yet (used Elizabeth Medina - www.elizabethmedina.com - she's UNBELIEVABLE and worth every penny) but i should get them back this week at some point. A couple of points that I see being asked around: - i did not do a wedding block. yes, the hotel is small, but a wedding block means YOU putting down money for rooms that people may or may not book. for me, our wedding was a decent size, but i didn't want to put down the money if i wasn't 100% sure that everyone would book by a certain time. also, many of our friends used their own preferred travel agent or method of booking. bottom line, its a small hotel, and you dont need to all be on the same floor when it's likely you'll run into everyone during the day anyway - i didnt use the hair/make up services. for hair, i wish i did. i jsut read too many bad reviews, but then lately, i have been seeing good reviews. my hair usually can withstand humidity, but this time, it completely didn't work. but hey, you win some you lose some! make up, i did myself, and was extremely pleased! had a few lessons before the trip, which turned out great for my rehearsal dinner and honeymoon - jacki is beyond amazing. she's the reason why we booked at dreams puerto aventuras, and i have zero regrets. she's on top of her game, and she knows you as if she's known you and your family for years. its unbelievable. - flowers. good lord. my flowers came out beyond my wildest dreams. i sent jacki a picture i found of a bouquet that was totally my style (luckily, my inlaws are florists, so they named every flower in the bouquet to help jacki wtih the order and pricing). she admitted she substituted a few expensive flowers for something very similar, to keep our price down. they came out beyond my wildest dreams. (shhh, dont even think my inlaws can design a bouquet THAT amazing!). - book the in-resort dj. we decided to go with audiocancun.com because they are slightly cheaper. ruined the reception. the introduction of the bridal party was completely ruined (mispronunciations, despite sending them details on how to say names; introducing the wrong people/speeding up the intros; not letting our bridal party dance into the reception). the music we requested was hardly played, and they had the worst karaoke set up. it was utterly embarrassing and will never ever recommend them. heard so many great things about their in house services - DONT book anyone else. if anyone has any specific questions, let me know! overall, best day ever. i miss it.
  6. Just had my UNREAL dream wedding here this past Saturday, June 28th. We had the most amazing wedding. At my honeymoon at el dorado royale right now, so I will write more later. By the way, we miss dreams so much!!! El dorado is so massive and it's a good half mile walk to any restaurant. Thank god we had our wedding at a smaller resort-- we'd never see anyone at a bigger one!!!
  7. ARRIVING THERE IN 3 WEEKS, GETTING MARRIED IN A LITTLE LESS THAN 4 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!! ahhh keep yall posted
  8. @@shelikespink I'm here at dreams PA now scoping out the venue! I am booked for June and we have appx 60-70 people attending. 100+ might be hard. This is my 3rd time in Mexico and I travel often... It's a much smaller resort but just perfect for weddings. There might be locations for the reception that can accommodate 100+ but I'm not totally sure. I will say the gated community is so quaint and beautiful-- much different than cancun but we love it!
