  1. Hi @@cassie06 I have decided to stick with the hotel vendor Alina. She has been great to work with and I am sure everything will be beautiful its just a little annoying that her prices for everything are outrageous!!! $15 to rent one vase is a little extreme if you ask me lol
  2. Hi @trishk and other brides July is coming quickly! Thanks so much for the information! Keeping my fingers crossed I have the same experience! I had a question about the reception meal (I know it says you had plated meals but I think I will have buffet due to the amount of people) We are expecting 60-65 people so do you know how buffet would work? Or any other brides? Is buffet less expensive? What is the price per person? (I see the chicken is $36 and beef $46 for platted meals) Do I pick the menu? Thanks!
  3. @@JanelleMcLeod Good to hear! I don't know about you but I still have quite a few "Yes I'm going but I haven't booked" lol. Common people!! I'm just waiting until I can order favors, get a better idea of budget and also book a honeymoon hotel! A swing of 10 people or so can really affect the budget! Are you staying in Cabo for your honeymoon? We're planning to stay at a different hotel Friday-Tuesday but I'm not sure which one. Dreams and Secrets is pretty expensive so I want to make sure if we book there its what we want. I've read a lot of reviews saying that the resorts are beautiful but very quite. While I want a nice resort I don't want to be bored =) The countdown in on! =)
  4. hello @@JanelleMcLeod @@RiuAugustBride2014 @@Rochelle1110, How is the planning going?! Seems like I'm going first! lol Riu Palace July 29th Bride. Its coming so quick!!! Does anyone know if Baja Norte has the open bar included? I read somewhere yes, but then I read somewhere no.. Were expecting about 60 people! Alyssa
  5. @@caboready2014 Nice! I'll make sure to give you details when I get them! My hair dresser/makeup lady is actually one of my friends who will be at the wedding so I get to check that off! Also- we are bringing our photographer as well!!! We found it to be cheaper to pay for her flight, hotel and transportation as opposed to hiring someone in Cabo. @@MelissaH113 Congrations on your upcoming wedding! I am not in contact with the coordinator since she wont reach out until 2-3 months before but when I confirmed my date I was sent an email with check list, menus and some other info. If you send me your email i can forward that to you. When is your wedding? I actually did not do save the dates since we knew day and hotel early on. So I just sent out invitations to give people as much time as possible to make it. I honestly havent done too much in regards to the wedding reception because I cant order until I have a head count! So i'm just working on things not affected by guest list. Looking on this website and pintrest is a great place to start! I am not a very stressed person to begin with but I must say I feel like I've heard nothing but good things and I'm sure they are pro's at getting everything together in those couple months. They do tons of weddings! lol So im just excited and not worried =) Also sorry about taking so long to respond! I always thought I got an email when I was mentioned in something. Guess I'm used to Facebook and IG haha. Feel free to email me if you would like... alyssa.murphy21@yahoo.com
  6. Hi @@stephbono, When is your wedding? Mine is July 29th =) Seems so far but I bet its going to creep up on us! So far we've picked the Gazebo and I'm pretty sure we're picking the Baja Norte for the reception. From what I've gathered if you do not do the semi-private dinner your paying per person for dinner plus the site fee. How's your planning going? Alyssa
  7. Hi @@caboready2014, Yes! I talked with Alina (the hotel vendor) she was very nice and responded very quickly! I also emailed a outside Vendor and she gave me quotes for pretty much half of the hotels prices ($35 for bouquets). I think this would be easy for the wedding party flowers but I am hesitant about how the center pieces would work?! I need to email her back to ask about that. When is your wedding?? Alyssa
  8. Great! I'm leaning towards baja Norte so is nice to hear the bar is included!!
  9. Thanks rntobe, Yeah I figured I'd have to work with the vendors myself I was kinda wondering how the reception flowers would work coming from an outside vendor. Like do I set them up myself? Lol. If any brides have worked with outside vendors for flowers please respond! Thanks
  10. Hello Brides and Future Brides! Flower question: Has anyone used an outside vendor for flowers?? If so how did that work? I saw a post one time from a bride who got her bridal party flowers from an outside vendor and her parents picked them up? It was like half the cose I believe?? The hotel vendor is obviously going to be more expensive so I am looking for options! How would I use an outside vendor for the reception flowers? Do I pay the fee for them to come on the grounds or will the coordinator set them up? Any and all info regarding flowers would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks, Alyssa
  11. Hi shepforward34, Or any RIU Palace brides! Thanks for the feedback! I'm leaning towards having the ceremony in the gazebo and then walking down the beach for additional pics! Best of both worlds maybe?? lol. Also yeah I'm still a little confused about the reception part! I dont necessarily need a private dinner if I have to pay per head in additional to renting the space, but I do want to have an after party with the DJ and dance floor. So thats where the confusion comes! Since my package includes 20 people if I have a private dinner do I still get the 20 people included? So would it be the $600 for Baja Norte plus any additional people over 20? Or since I am opting out of the semi private dinner do I now have to pay for every persons dinner in additional to the space rental fee?? And if i do have a semi private dinner, do I then rent another area for my dancing and DJ? Help please!! Thanks =) PS Shepforward34 your 3 months before me so lets work this out together!! lol
  12. OK so I just got a big email with package pricing and additional information. One question.... I have the Royal package (which includes 20 guests) but is this only if I have the semi-private dinner?? what if i want the private dinner and pay the $600 rental fee? Do I then have to pay per person per plate? Or do I still get 20 people included and I pay for additional people? Also, if I were to do the semi-private dinner, do we eat dinner and then move to another reception area? Where would we do the dancing and cake etc? Hope this makes sense!!! Thanks, Alyssa
  13. Hi Shepforward34! I am getting married at Riu Palace Cabo July 2014 =) I am in the wayyyy begining stages so I am eager to read reviews on suggestions for receptions, photographer etc etc etc! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Alyssa
  14. Thanks ladies!! It sure helps to hear great things about the RIU Palace! I just got my email today to put in my confirmation code! Next step working on the room blocks! Room question: Which type of room did you and your FI choose and was it big enough for you to get ready in? Did they give you a room upgrade??
  15. Hi Dayna, Thanks for getting back to me! I think we're going with the middle package as well =) then we can add people on. So, just to clarify you do not make any payments for your wedding prior to the getting there?? Does this make it easy to switch/add/remove things if necessary? Also did you use a TA? I am still unsure of what we should do since we normally book on our own using bookit.com etc when finding a good deal. And since you have to pay for your flight in full when purchasing air tixs is it worth it to use the TA for rooms? If we do not use a TA do we go through someone at the hotel or how do they know that 80% of my guest are staying there? Thanks! Alyssa PS How was your wedding?
