  1. Belisaria - I didn't specifically ask for the light-up dancefloor so I assume the 800-1500 was for plain. Did you ask about prices for a light-up? That sounds pretty fabulous. JessiTaylor, sorry to hear about the paperwork drama. We're also getting the marriage paperwork done in the US before the wedding - just seems soooo much easier and cheaper. We live in the Netherlands so this will actually involve flying to New York for two days en route to Playa del Carmen to swing by the courthouse, but it still seems like way less hassle. I think we'll go with dinner on the beach too. The Royal Elite Palapa photos that Lupita sent me don't seem very inviting.
  2. MrsShoreytobe, did you end up choosing Sandos Playacar for your wedding? I am getting married there on October 5, 2013 and I haven't decided yet where to have the reception. We're going to do the private reception, but I'm not clear on the dancing options. Lupita told me it's $800-$1500 to put out a dancefloor (?!?!). Sooo the question is whether we can have dancing on the beach or palapa without putting out an extra dancefloor, whatever that means. It also looks like a lot of people rent out the disco until 11pm, but it seems like that would require everyone to finish their dinner and migrate to the disco - I'm not sure I would like that situation because it would mean no dancing during dinner, no mingling at the dinner tables between the bouquet toss and cake-cutting, etc. I'd love to hear your thoughts and what you guys have decided to do!
  3. WOW that takes guts. INCREDIBLE PHOTOS! i definitely would not have the skillz to survive a zip line while wearing a wedding gown!
  4. hi all, i just discovered BDW in the last week and it's fantastic. i'm set to get married on october 5th, 2013 at Sandos Playacar - we just signed our contract yesterday, and we only have 5 months to go! i feel so behind on the planning, especially with all of these 2014 brides posting on BDW... does anyone have any experience with Sandos Playacar? any suggestions or advice regarding photographers/videographers, DJs, etc would be muuuch appreciated. i'm also debating whether we need a private dinner or whether we can just go with dinner at one of the restaurants (for freeee). if anyone has feedback i would love to hear it! i'm so excited -but also mildly freaked out that i only have 5 months to pull this together. xx grace
  5. Wow, I just found this forum and it is amazing! I am getting married either October 4 or 5 and still haven't settled on a resort yet - I'm debating between Azul Sensatori and Sandos Playacar. I was wondering if anyone on this thread also considered both of these venues and could give me feedback on your decision to go with Azul Sensatori. Basically, Azul Sensatori seems to be more expensive per room (therefore more expensive for the guests) but it seems to come with a lot of perks, including a free private event (the wedding reception!!) if you book 16 rooms or more. On the other hand, from this thread I've noticed that Azul Sensatori charges a looot for extras. Sandos Playacar has really great room prices and a great beach, but the wedding and reception works out to be a lot more. If anyone has any wisdom to share, I would really appreciate it. I'm obviously already behind - wedding in 5 months and no venue yet!
