  1. Hi CeCe -- I just saw that you had your welcome reception at Amanyara! That resort is absolutely gorgeous. Can you tell me more about how it went? And was it super expensive? I would love to do something for our wedding there (not until May 2014) but I'm not sure we can afford it......do you have any pictures!?
  2. Congratulations Lauren on buying a house, that is such a huge deal! I'm a little disappointed to hear that Laura can be unresponsive. I thought Niki, who we met with when we were choosing resorts was so on top of it and organized, so I'm a little worried that working with Laura won't be the same. But maybe it's just the island culture. And maybe I will just have to adjust my expectations a little.... How big is your wedding? We're aiming for 75 but I think it will be bigger.... Let me know how it goes. I think we're doing the deck, too, for the ceremony, and then the reception at the restaurant, but that's about all I know so far, haha. I would love to hear about your process and decisions (and recommendations), like where you are getting decorations, cake, etc. Anyway, the resort is gorgeous and you still have plenty of time to bring it all together, I'm sure it will be lovely!
  3. Hi Lauren -- I am also getting married at the Seven Stars, but in 2014! It's a long way away, but I'm super excited and wanted to know how your experience working with the resort is going as you get closer to the big day! Has Lauren been responsive and helpful? Also, how did you decide on Correy Forbes for the ceremony and his bro for the reception? I'm totally torn on what to do for music, so any insight would help!
  4. Hi ladies -- hoping to start up this thread again and get some advice. I'm getting married in May 2014 in Turks and Caicos and try to decide between Seven Stars and The Somerset. We've visited both and really can't choose. They both have such different feels to them but I really like them both -- I think the Somerset is more charming, intimate, flexible, and allows us to have more people (we were hoping to have 100 guests, but we're having a hard time cutting our invite list) but we'd have to do both the ceremony and the reception outdoors which can be hot and humid in May.... The Seven Stars has the amazing deck overlooking the beach for the wedding ceremony that I love love love (so I can have the outdoor beachy wedding minus the sand) and an amazing chef. But I don't love the reception space (the restaurant) and the resort feels a little more commercial....plus the rooms are a bit more expensive. So, any advice? Has anyone recently gotten married at the Somerset on the beach that has insight on how it will go and what it will look like? Did you have your guests take off their shoes? And where did you do the reception, in the garden?Anyone had their resort at the Seven Stars recently that has pictures and insight? Also I'm stumped about bands. Suggestions? We'd like a group that will play a mixture of pop hits, oldies, alternative, light rock, etc -- a band similar to what we could get in the states but not too pricey. Also we'd love to have a cellist or pianist play during the ceremony. Has anyone done this and have suggestions of musicians? Thanks so much!
