  1. great tips, thank you!! my skin tends to get oily after short periods of time here in NY and is even worse on vacation, so keeping my make-up pristine is going to be interesting lol
  2. these look amazing! seemed like it was a lot easier to do than I thought it would be!
  3. Hi girls! We just got engaged at Beach Palace (it's one of our favorite place, our go to vacay spot) & are planning our wedding for 2015 (on the long term engagement plan lol but this thread is beyond helpful! I love reading about everyone's experiences & planning!
  4. I just wanted to thank everyone here for posting your scripts. I still haven't gotten through everything, but I've saved pieces that I love and am working on putting our together now. There's so much inspiration in this thread, I love it!
  5. Ah Bigcitybride, my sister is having her destination wedding at the Viceroy Anguilla in July 2015!!! They are going down July of 2014 to book the rooms, plan the menus, events, etc. & put down the deposit, but they have already been in touch with the wedding coordinator at the hotel, the photographer they are using & their florist. She's a little crazy about planning, but they're giving their guests a welcome/rehearsal dinner at Picante, which is a great mexican restaurant on the island. Then they're doing ceremony on sunset deck, cocktail hour around one of the pools & reception at Coba. They are then treating their guests to the breakfast buffet the next morning. Half of their guests are staying in two villas including them, family, bridesmaids, groomsmen etc. and they are having the kitchens stocked so that there is always food available. I know some people hire private chefs though, but that gets pricey FAST! For the guests not staying in the villas, they are giving each one a $100 resort credit to help offset cost of food. She is using Derrys Richardson for photography, his work is beautiful & prices are very reasonable, susan Croft is wonderful as well. She is also going to use Black Orchid Florists for flowers & lighting, but has spoken to Couture Concepts about a few things as well. Anguilla is absolutely stunning & if you do go with it, I am sure you are going to have the most beautiful wedding!
  6. me me me!!! I'm wearing Sottero & Midgely "Topaz" for my first dress & Maggie Sottero "Reese" for my second dress. I am so, so excited about them!!!
  7. I've used Insanity & P90x in the past to help me lose weight, but I swear the weight just "poof" appeared on me when I started this new 12hour/day desk job a few months ago. I gained over 30 pounds in just a few months & i'm still eating healthy I'm just so exhausted by the time I get home after my commute & I treasure my sleep so much in the morning that I can't bear the thought of waking up earlier to work out, but I definitely need to get my butt moving with summer coming up & the wedding. I need to stop making excuses. I've been following a blog/facebook page for a little while & the girl runs monthly "sweating for the wedding" challenge groups for Insanity, P90x & other beachbody programs. She posts lots of great fitness & nutrition articles, motivational posts & beautiful wedding ideas. I go to her page a lot for inspiration for my own wedding. Her website says the sweating for the wedding challenges are small, intimate very private groups where you have simple assignments & check-ins, along with support over the course of the day to stay on top of you to make sure you get your workout done and are sticking to your meal plan. I feel like I definitely need that right now to keep my motivated and to be held accountable for once for what I say i'm going to do, plus she gives you a really cute sweating for the wedding workout tank if you sign up & i'm a sucker for free stuff haha. I think i'm gonna sign up for a may challenge (really can't put this off any longer), it'd be cool if a bunch of us signed up & had our own BDW group lol! Here's her blog info, it's called "Bride To Be Fitness" http://www.bride2befitness.com/p/sweating-for-wedding-challenge.html
  8. I'm still on the fence about this:( I'd really like a DJ but am way too involved & feel like I care too much about everything being perfect that if the DJ isn't wonderful & do everything I explained to a "t", that i'm just going to end up upset
  9. beautiful bags! thanks for all the ideas love how coordinated everything is!!!

  11. Our reason for having a destination wedding was more of a compromise. We love our tropical vacations and he ended up proposing at our favorite getaway, Beach Palace (literally every other vacation we go on, even if the place is more luxurious or "nicer", he always looks at me and says "I wish we were at Beach Palace" lol). I wanted the big wedding at the Palm House at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, but he is not the most sociable person and we joke that he hates everyone, so he would have rather eloped. I told him no way, no how, i've been planning my wedding forever and his response was "well, what about a smaller wedding at Beach Palace?". I couldn't help but laugh because it really did make perfect sense. We looked into LeBlanc, but my little brother will only be 16 at the time and wouldn't be allowed to attend the wedding, so we had to stick with the vacation that we call "home", which is perfectly fine. I can't wait to share our favorite place with all of our guests

  13. Thank you Jenn & Lynda! It's a ton of time, but i'm one of those people who has been planning since I was little. I already know color schemes, linens, decorations, etc. Now it's just getting everything together for a destination wedding, which was NOT the original plan. Nick wanted to elope, I wanted the big 150-200 person wedding at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and then he said "what about a destination wedding?", so it was a compromise that threw me for a loop haha, but i'm as excited as ever!
