  1. I got married at Le Kliff this past November - it was amazing! We used photo shoots Vallarta - we paid $1700usd. We booked Eva but she had a last minute family emergency so we used Tom instead - he was great.! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk We used their (Le Kliff) DJ and he was great - literally everyone was dancing the whole time. Only the dinner music wasn't good, but the dance was excellent! 2. Thank you! As for the Catamaran - have you added AllyCat on Facebook? They take a million photos from each trip they do and post them as albums. They swim was not difficult, and we all had lifevest to hold onto (they werent really ones to wear - more like U shaped floating devices). The swim could get tricky depending on the tide though - sometimes, if its very high, you really have to swim while holding your arms above your head so you dont bang your head on the cave rocks. Nobody in my group is an expert swimmer and all did fine. There were a few who basically couldn't swim, so they stayed on the boat. I was debating going to Yelapa instead so that everyone had the opportunity to get off the boat - it might have been a better choice, but I chose Mariettas. The food was good - nothing overly special - it was chicken fajitas, rice and beans - all tasted like something I would make at home. They also served Chips, guac and pico de gallo which was delicious! I personally didnt snorkel, but a bunch of my group did - they did see fish - some neat ones, but its not like the Mayan. I kayaked, paddle boarded and swam. It was enough activity for us. Honestly, my guests didnt really provide much feedback on the OOT bags - they were all very thankful though. I would guess the hangover kits and after sun were the biggest hits. I know I appreciated the leftovers from the hangover kits I do not regret bringing anything. I also did stuff for the kids - pails, shovels, glow sticks, treats, lip balm. If i could have found a good way to bring pails and shovels I would have - they were really pricey in PV. I should have brought extra ribbon with me - I couldnt find the colors I wanted there. I meant to have a more organized binder of wedding stuff - like the seating plan, meals, arrivals etc. I ran out of time to put this together and thought I was ok because I had it on email - but the internet there was a nightmare.. I should have known better, but just didnt do it. If I were to do it again, I would have actually done it along the way instead of saying "oh i should put this in a binder..." Honestly, nothing is standing out that I wish I would have brought - we were pretty organized with our packing. We found laundry in a plaza across from the hotel and did laundry three times while we there - they washed, dryed and folded it, priced on weight. It was like $10 each time and we had a hockey bag full every time. I was going to write a second blog post about tips on planning based on my experience... I just havent done it yet :S
  3. I have finally finished my review! I wrote it on a wordpress since it was a bit easier to edit and add pictures to. Here is the link! Let me know if you have any questions! https://chelseapaige37.wordpress.com/2015/01/19/planning-my-puerto-vallarta-destination-wedding/
  4. Almost done my review! Holy smokes it is time consuming. Does anyone know hot to add pictures into the review?
  5. I agree that most ppl will not expect anything. My guests were very appreciative, but I think the hangover kits got the most use - along with city maps. I considered cups but decided against - at the resort I stayed at, I saw zero ppl with their own cups - In two weeks. Maybe it was just the resort? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Lol yes!! I finally have all my photos and will get it written over the holidays! I've been slacking. It's just been busy switching from wedding mode to xmas. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. We were there for two weeks in November. 5 minutes walk to the malecon is definitely incorrect. Yes there are some shops within 5 minutes but the true malecon is more like 15-20 minutes. We walked from the malecon all the way into the romantic zone, which was a beautiful walk. I'd suggests cab ride to the malecon, or the bus which is super cheap and easy. Also, up a few blocks from the malecon is Juarez - tons of shopping! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Westjet usually has great rates but their group policies are the most strict out of all the airlines - the least amount of flexibility so just read your contract carefully! If you are partial to westjet but get a cheaper rate from another airline, see if they will price match. Most will especially for groups! Puerto Vallarta is getting more and more expensive - I hadn't been before getting married there and we fell in love. Have you been? I Mean, you certainly do not get the crystal blue water like the Mayan but I think the beaches are gorgeous, especially out of town. Plus the jungle/mountains are beautiful and the city is amazing. I was shocked at how much everyone fell in love with it. If you do go and have any questions about activities, let me know! We did a private catamaran day and it was the highlight of the trip. We didn't be the option to snorkel and everyone who did said there was lots to see despite the darker water. I still have yet to do my review as I was hoping to get professional pictures in it and do not have mine yet - but I will post it in the Puerto Vallarta section. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Yes that included taxes! We made sure everyone booked to get the early booking bonuses which helped. We went with Air Canada Vacations - you can always email their groups department - our agent has quoted us like $500 more for the same package. That may be sneaky of me but o didn't understand why it was so high. Your agent will have to price match it. We ended up getting $2750 back from the am resorts room comps. The beach area isn't great but it didn't bother me. We actually stayed for 2 weeks and I didn't go into the ocean until the last day - it was beautiful! Wish k has spent more time in it. It was red flagged the entire two weeks but ppl swam almost every day. I personally didn't find the undertow that bad. There are vendors who will try to sell you goods and drugs - but they leave you alone if you say no. We are pool ppl so spent most of our time there - our friends are beach ppl and said it was fine. I absolutely LOVED the now amber. I think we will return for our anniversary next year! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I am going to disagree. I think you should be paying for day passes. I mean I wouldn't go around advertising it, but if they have chosen to stay at a different resort, it could be because they found a more affordable deal. If they are making the effort to come all the way to your wedding I really think it's the right thing to do. Yes it adds to your expense, but I think generally we all paid more for nicer resorts, therefor having our friends and family pay more then they would typically pay for a vacation. I mean , it is more fun and ideal for everyone to stay together - but if doesn't mean ppl are obligated to. I just figure that we are already asking ppl to spend the time and money to come to our wedding - why ask them to spend more to actually come to the wedding? Sure it isn't ideal and yes it could get costly, but in the grand scheme of things, is a few hundred dollars really worth the risk of upsetting friends and family? Is a few hundred dollars worth the stress and headache of dealing with all of this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Just a thought - if you went with a palace resort, I'm pretty sure (double check!) you can use your room credit towards your wedding package. Their packages are really nice - and include a decent amount. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks ladies! That gives me More patience. I'd rather wait a bit longer for better editing anyway. The wait seems like N eternity!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I'm going to throw this out there - you will end up disappointed with pricing of you compare group rates to last minute rates. That was super hard for me to wrap my head around, but once I got past that, I was able to commit! From calgary we paid $1700 all in for a week at the now Amber in puerto Vallarta in November. I got rates from a few agents, and a few suppliers and made sure I got the best rate I could find - I didn't have much flexibility with dates. Puerto Vallarta is getting more expensive. Something else to consider (which a good Tavel agent will help you with) is the incentives from the different suppliers. Since you have 15ppl you may not qualify for huge incentive, but may get a room of two free. You could always apply that incentive over everyone's package to make prices cheaper for your guests. Also pay very close attention to the wedding packages at each resort. Some offer way better packages than other and you don't want to screw yourself by choosing a cheaper package for your guests. 14. How long will it/did it take your photographer to get photos to you? I'm pretty sure mine say two weeks - it's been three so not a huge deal but I'm so anxious. We get them via online photo gallery and they have about half of them edited and uploaded. I had emailed them last week asking and don't want to be a pain but really want the rest of them!
