Hi ladies, I.m currently in playa del Carmen and did a day pass today to barcelo. I met with Lilliane, one of the wc, and she showed us a few wedding location. I will post photo's of the location and where it's located when I return home in 1-2 days. The day pass was $77 usd and we were able to use the pool and buffets. It gave us an idea of the property, food, and beach area. Happy planning to everyone!

Hello All, I narrowed down my DW location to Barcelo for my beach ceremoney and reception. However, we stopped planning for a few months and now we are heading to PDC to visit and get a better feel before we finalize everything. Are there any other AI resort that offers a "BEACH RECEPTION" OPTION? I checked and it looks like there was only Barcelo and The Royal PDC. I don't want to book the RPDC since it's adults only. Majority of the resorts have the reception inside one of the a la cartes or private dining. I don't want this and prefer a private beach reception at the AI. Please let me know if there are other resorts that does offer a beach reception? I prefer it to be close in proximity to PDC however if not it's ok. Thanks!

Beautiful photo's! I've looked into hiring a photographer as well but it's not within my budget.

Hi ShaunB I have their info from a local wedding coordinator. The place is beautiful and I considered having my reception there however it was out of my budget.
Msg me and I can forward it to you.

Beautiful!!!! I'm planning to do boarding passes as well.

Plus prices sky rocketed after we booked and never went back down... for all those people that think they can wait for last minute deals! Doesn't happen for this hotel!
Mel - Thanks so much! I'm planning to get married in May 2014 so I will let my guests know of this. When did you start booking for your airfare and hotel?

I'm looking to add bubba kegs to my guests OOT bags. Should I purchase the ones with handles or no handles? I'm thinking no handles so it's easier to stack them in the suit cases. Thoughts?
-
Julie I forgot to add the $77 is just the day pass. If you exceed your wedding package people then it's another $27 or $66 per person for the wedding reception. So you're paying two fee's for outside guests.

I am choosing the Mint Breeze package, and it says that each additional person over 20 is a charge of $27 per person. This may be a dumb question, but does anyone know if that is just for them to attend the ceremony or is that including their attendance at the reception as well?

We had no issues being at the Palace and most of our guests being at the Colonial...still saw them lots and were able to hang out with them all the time, the colonial/tropical isn't that far if you are able-bodied and ok with walking. the beach/caribe is a fair distance away and has less options to eat/drink at.
My recommendation would also be to have guests stay at the tropical/colonial and/or palace.
Thanks FN!
I'm thinking of having my guests staying at Tropical/Colonial and Palace only. My guests might want to dine together since it's mainly family and most of them are unfamiliar with traveling such as our parents. So we will have to make sure our parents stay in the same property as us so we can dine together.

I don't know what the extra fees are for guests staying at the Beach/Caribe. We did have a welcome happy hour at the Tropical bar and we had to pay $15/person for those staying at the Beach/Caribe - in order for them to be there. The place is huge and we never really saw or hung out with guests staying at the Beach/Caribe so I really highly recommend having all your guests at the Palace or Tropical.
Thanks Gil.
Now is the $15 for the duration of the stay, per day, or per restaurant?

Ladies, So I'm getting conflicting information from my TA and reading reviews here about dining option. Does it still hold true that if you book at the Maya Beach/Caribe you can only dine at the buffets and restaurants at beach/caribe? If you book at the Tropical/Colonial then you can dine at beach, caribe, tropical, and colonial? Then if you book at Palace you can dine at all the below options unlimited?
Thanks.

I was a little stress/anxious worrying about everything for the wedding and trying not to get burnt and drink too much before (haha) that I would have liked to have more time after the wedding to fully enjoy it with everyone.
So..flying in Tuesday should be fine because that is what we did for a Friday wedding
Sounds good. Jacquelyn confirmed Tue would be the latest to fly in so we should be good to go.
Thanks!

Thanks Ladies.
Jacquelyn replied and the latest would be on a Tue for a Fri Ceremony.

thank you ladies! I'm positive I'm going the evite STD route then will send out formal invites afterwards. Majority of our guests are tech savvy so it's not a bothersome. As for the parents they actually wouldn't mind at all. They prefer word of mouth and usually don't care about the paper STD. I figure this would help us in our budget. I read on here that mywedding.com has e-std's so I will look into this and go this route. Thanks!
-
Has anyone done evite STD's? I'm thinking of going this route to stay in budget. I figure the STD's are informal so an evite would be fine. If I do I was looking forward to adding some youtube videos of the resort and other miscellaneous information. If you have please share your experience. Thanks!

Hello All! I'm very excited to have found BDW and it has tremendously helped with some preplanning. We have finally decided on the resort and date for our DW. We have selected Friday, May 16 2014 as our symbolic ceremony at Barcelo. We are unsure which resort exactly. We are still in the preplanning stage and once we have all this finalize hopefully we can book our date in June when the airfare comes out. Any other May 2014 brides out there?

Congrats! I'm a Barcelo Bride for May 2014. I'll be following this thread as well to see what are the updates.
4 Large scalloped seashells
in Buy, Sell, Trade or Freebies!
Posted
Hello Ladies, I bought these 4 large seashells a while back and have decided not to use them for my wedding. My destination wedding is on hold so it's my loss and your gain.
Diameter: 5" - 6" across
They are pretty big and use your wrist to fingers as a measurement.
I'm willing to ship these anywhere in the U.S. for a reasonable cost.
Please send me a message if you're interested. Thanks!
