  1. Joannaleigh - interested to hear how your experience goes. Best of luck with your wedding. It's finally here! Billandstina - good point on first class! I might need to look in to that! AirTran seems to be the most strict with their policy.
  2. Thanks for all the insight! I've spoken to two reps who said the same thing - but I'm going to keep trying! Most of the brides I've talked to have had good experiences flying with their dress...I'll stay positive!
  3. Hey brides! This is a little off topic - but I wanted to know if anyone has contacted their airlines about carrying on their dress. AirTran told me that I either have to buy a ticket for my dress (crazy!!) or fold it into a carry on bag. Has anyone else received this info? Not sure what to do -unless I ship the dress to The Royal - which makes me super nervous. Looking forward to your feedback!

  5. I'm pretty sure they are around the 3-6k range - but I could be a little off one way on the other. I know they are definitely at least double what Funever is for the same type of package. We are flying in our own photograher for two nights at The Royal. I was told that we wouldn't have to pay an outside vendor fee if they don't have any large equipment (whatever that means!). If they push the outside vendor fee - I will try to fight it - but the two day trip - with the fee - is still around the same price as Funever. Hope that helps!
  6. We are getting married at 5pm on the beach by the gazebo - cocktails in the gazebo - and then back on the beach. I've heard the beach gazebo location is more private. Hopefully we have nice weather and can stick to the plan! What time does your reception end? They told me 930 was the latest - but I find that hard to believe.
  7. When is your wedding? I am flying a photographer in - agreed to pay for flight and two nights. Price came to around $1,200. Maybe that is an option for you? Depending on when your wedding is - I could always share my photos with you to see what you think!
  8. Kellie, We booked Funever through The Royal - as they were the on-site photography company. After picking the middle package and extending the hours to fit in our ceremony and reception - the cost came to around $1,500. We started to read the reviews and realized that most were sub-par. As a plan be, we have decided to fly in a photographer for two nights. He is a personal friend - so we are saving on the actual photography fee. But pictures our important to us and nothing I read about Funever is worth it. I've heard Del Sol is amazing - but not cheap. Their photos look awesome though. Maybe The Royal will wave the $350 outside vendor fee is you can negotiate something? Hope that helps!
  9. Have any Royal brides heard anything good about Funever Photography? The reviews I am reading are making me think we should come up with a plan b. Thanks!
  10. Hey! You need to contact a wedding coordinator through the website weddings.realresorts.com. That is where you can choose The Royal and obtain a coordinator. Hope that helps!
  11. Congratulations on getting married! We are getting married May 17th 2013 at The Royal in Cancun and couldn't be more excited! I wanted to reach out to other brides-to-be and ask a few questions - hopefully for additional guidance! My wedding coordinator has been accommodating - but it takes her days/weeks to get back to some of my questions. Any suggestions on how to get answers back quickly? I was wondering if anyone has reviews on the DJ/Photographer at the site. We just booked Dormixx and requested a photographer - but am anxious to receive any tips on their performance or suggestions on how to make these processes easier! We are thinking about upgrading to the lighted dance floor. It just looks so fun! Any idea if the staff sets up the decorations you bring for the wedding - and if you are responsible for picking them up at the end of the night? I am also curious if other brides spent money on extra decorations for the reception through the resort. Any suggestions on good spots for the after party following the reception? I'd like to add this to my agenda! I haven't booked the food, flowers, etc. I am assuming I have to do that relatively soon - but haven't heard back. Any suggestions on the best options? Happy planning and best wishes to all!

  15. Congratulations brides to be! I am in the final months of planning for my wedding at The Royal Cancun on May 17th, 2013. We are super excited! I wanted to reach out and share some of my concerns in order to see if others have had similar issues or comments to help in the process. My wedding coordinator has been accommodating - but slow to respond. I have to wait days or weeks to hear anything back. Any suggestions? I was thinking about cc'ing the entire team - but didn't want to jump to that decision. Has anyone used the DJ Dormixx or the onsite photographer? I'm interested to hear feedback or suggestions on making the process easier. Any suggestions on flowers, food, etc.? I haven't made my final decisions - but assume I need to do that relatively soon. How does the day of the wedding work? Will the staff setup and extra decorations that we bring - and are we responsible for cleaning those items up at the end of the evening? I assume they will provide the final bill at the end of the evening? We have roughly 25-30 guests flying in for the wedding. I am really hoping that the resort lives up to their expectations. Does anyone know a good spot to have the unofficial after-party after the reception ends? I'd like to add that to our agenda. Lots of questions - but it's a little more challenging to not be able to pick up the phone and call your coordinator! Appreciate any feedback you can provide. Happy wedding planning!
