  1. Thanks! I guess I can give it a try, I am in canada too so hopefully I will be protected! Lol I want to order pashminas for my guests since I am getting married at las Caletas and it may be windy on the boat ride over!
  2. Hi @@krisdaversa! Just wondering how your experience was shopping on dhgate....does it take long to receive the product? How was the quality? Is it really free shipping like it says on there?? I am just weary of ordering online from china because I have heard horror stories of people getting ripped off. Your input would be appreciated! Thanks!
  3. Edmonton! Not yet but I was gonna start emailing Denise today! How about you? Yeah I think I might bring a few things for centrepieces and maybe lights and lanterns? So much to do!!
  4. What a beautiful wedding, Lauren! They did such a great job on your video! The lanterns were so amazing! Did you end up bringing your own or getting the ones from las Caletas?
  5. We get in on the 26th and wedding on the 29th! Wow, we will probably run into each other! Where are you from?
  6. Hi Anya! Wow looks like we are wedding buddies cause I am also getting married at las Caletas and staying at now Amber at the end of April this year!! Which week are you gonna be there and when is your wedding day??
  7. Hi Lauren! We just got back a few days ago and it was great! We got to meet Dennise and relax on the island and it was even more beautiful than I remembered! It was so helpful being able to look at the reception area and now I feel better cause I think we will all fit! She also said that they are going to do some construction this summer to make that area a little bigger! Being there made me wish our wedding was sooner lol Oh and another thing I learned while I was there is that they are going to try to train te sea lion to be the ring bearer lol I hope he learns by next year, how cool would that be?!
  8. Hey all, I am at now amber right now and I'll give you some pointers -Overall good food except the buffet is sub par compared to other resorts like the Riu. Most restaurants are a la carte anyway and they are good. Room service is good too, get it and have breakfast on your balcony! - all rooms are ocean view but the higher you are the better the view. Rooms on the secrets side have lots of noise from dogs and roosters. -Very rocky beach, you'll definitely need water shoes. If you're planning in runs along the beach, think again. -Easy for adults to go back and forth between the two sides -lots of vendors on the beach - lots of good taco stands right outside the resort and great $25 massages! - very nice rooms I'll post more when I think if it!

  10. Hi Lauren! How did you arrange to have this site visit? How much did it cost? My FI and I will be vacationing in PV in 2 weeks and were hoping to go and do a little visit at LC!
  11. Hi cbott, we are mostly coming from edmonton and San Francisco area. The prices you got are amazing! When is your wedding? I hope the prices come down but it just seems when I look at the prices online it's much cheaper for 2013 than 2014 so I am assuming that they made it cheaper for 2013 since it is a new hotel and they are trying to promote it?
  12. Than Thanks for your input, I am kind if hoping for a smaller party now lol maybe 50 will fit nicely? Can't wait to read your reviews and see some pics!
  13. Thanks so much for your response! I was afraid that would be the case but I guess most of the time people are focused on eating anyway so it should be fine. Maybe I'll get most of the speeches out of the way at the rehearsal dinner! . Is there really no electricity there? I was hoping to add some of those paper lanterns for decoration and I think you have to plug those in?
  14. April is coming right up!! I just booked my date for April of next year! Can't wait to hear all about your day!
  15. Hi Lianne, thanks for your input! So does that mean table 9 and 10 will be further away from everyone? I am afraid that if this is the case, whoever gets those tables might feel left out. Having it an hour early is such a good idea! I plan on having mine in april so the sun won't go down until around 8:30 so hopefully that will be good enough!
  16. Hi everyone! Somewhat new to this forum, and i am still trying to decide between Las Caletas and Martoca. I am slightly leaning towards Las Caletas because it is a special location for my fi and I, and also the fact that it is a private island is just too unique to pass up. However, I have some concerns with the size of the reception area. We are anticipating 60+ guests and it seems like the reception area is quite small and looks like a long corridor, correct me if i'm wrong. I worry that the tables will be too spread out for everyone to enjoy slideshows, toasts, etc. Any brides who have had a large party there have any insight on this? Also, my other concern is that it seems to be very dark at Las Caletas once the sun goes down. I like the idea of everything being lit by just candles and torches, but I am worried about it being too dark. In the pictures of Martoca it looked so pretty with all the lanterns and strings of light around the palm trees. So confused! any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
  17. Now Amber was my number one choice for accomodation for my wedding consisting of about 60-70 guests. I got a quote from my travel agent with some great prices--about $1500 including flights, but i realized afterwards that the quotes they gave me were for April 2013 instead of April 2014...So i went to the NOW amber website to check prices and it appears that the prices almost double from 2013 to 2014!! Eg. a room for 2 is around $1900 in 2013 and $3400 in 2014!!! Does anyone know why this is? If i book over a year in advance do you think i could still get the 2013 rates? help!
  18. Thank you so much! can't wait to see everyone's pictures from their marival wedding!
  19. Hi brides! Brand new to the forum! I am considering staying at Marival as well, but have a different location in mind for my actual wedding. Does anyone know if the wedding package that is included with Marival Residences can instead be used as a rehearsal dinner? Thanks!
