I'm not a big fan of the daisies or carnations either. That's not actually too bad of prices for your bouquet and the rest of the flowers. Is that just throught the hotel?

I have a question regarding requirements to obtain the marriage license in Jamaica. I know that at least 2 months prior we need to send notarized copies of our birth certificates and passports. I'm confused how to get a notarized birth certificate - would getting a certified copy from the vital statistics department be sufficient? I'm a notary and, at least in Ohio, we can't notarize copies of vital records certification. The passport would be fine to do; it's the birth certificate i'm worried about. I don't want to send the wrong thing. Has anyone else had to deal with this issue? What have you guys done? Thanks!

I hear ya! It can definitley be a little overwhelming trying to figure out where to have your wedding and then once you chose a location, which hotel to use. I actually looked all over the Caribbean, because, like you, I wanted to find a good deal for my guests and for us for the wedding packages, etc. the hotel offers. So I started researching airfares to different countries. 2014 prices won't be available, but you can look at April/May 2013 prices to give you an idea. That narrowed it down for me, then I just looked at different hotels in the countries that were affordable to fly and I liked. I looked at their prices for rooms and what wedding packages they offered. Once I decided where and when my fiance and I met with a destination wedding travel agent who has now taken over that portion. She finding us the best prices, deals, discounts for rooms and airfare. She does room blocks and blocks flights. I think a travel agen will be your best bet. It relieves your stress. If anyone has a question I just refer them to her. So you were able to get the steel drum band for $150? How long did they play for?

I actually found a lady on etsy - she had great reviews and the airline ticket invitations were really cute and customizable. And, much more reasonable than other vendors I was looking at. Thanks for the tip!

That helps a lot. We are sending out probably around 40 invitations, so that's a good estimate. I just started looking at invitations, but that seems pretty pricey for only 50 invitations! That's a little disappointing. I really thought they were cute invites. Who did you end up going with for your invitations? Did you do airline ticket invite still?

That's what my fiance said when I suggested bringing decorations - centerpieces, etc. He's said we are going to have to take 20 suitcases! I figure I'll look into how much it would cost to ship boxes down there. Even before I thought of bringing some decor that's not included in our package I was already overwhelmed by the amount of stuff we'll have to bring down. I want to say I saw it on their website that you can ship stuff down to the hotel prior to your arrival and they will hold it for you, which makes sense. I just have no idea how much that would cost to ship internationally. I wasn't' aware that you could get a single steel drum - that made my day!!! $350 isn't bad! Thanks! I wasn't sure what the "trio" consisted of until I looked it up and watched some youtube videos. It's cool, but definitely not ideal, especially for the ceremony.

Hello! I've been doing some research on boarding pass invitations. I've been looking through all the ladies that have done it themselves and they look amazing! Unfortunately, I am not artistic or craftsy at all. I came across EMDOTZEE's website and looked through boarding pass invites she had done. I thought they were really cute. But i was wondering if any of you have used her and your experience. Any help or other advice would be much appreciated!

I really want one for the cermony. But it seems really expensive to hire one, especially with there being a minimum time limit that you have to have them for. I know a jamaican trio band is included in our package, but I would LOVE a steel drum band. Any thoughts?

Hi Ladies! I am also getting married at Secrets St. James. My date is Nov. 1, 2013. I haven't done anything else with the hotel but book my wedding date and give them the deposit for the wedding package. I got the Ultimate package. Has anyone else gotten this package? Just curious if there are still alot of add-ons needed, etc. Thanks!
