Wedding coordinator told me their photographer is Luma Estudio: https://www.facebook.com/luma.estudio1
I checked out the pictures on their Facebook page and wasn't much impressed. Budget-wise it is the cheapest option for the photographer though... I tried to find photographers in Samana, but they don't seem to have any - most search results give Punta Cana photographers.

I'm wondering whether or not to consider booking another one from the mainland and paying for them to stay at the hotel. Also can anyone from the uk recommend a company that translate wedding documents etc? I've been quoted £1400 which seems a lot.
Thanks

Adorable! Both of them! That's kind of sandals I'd like to get for the reception.

I ended up purchasing a pair of Nina's and I love them as much as I loved the Badgley's I wanted. They were budget friendly without compromising the beauty at $98. I also purchased a pair of flip flops for the beach reception from the same designer Nina- I would highly recommend looking into Nina if you want a gorgeous shoe for a friendly price. She has a lot of options! I bought the sandals at Lord and Taylor yesterday- they were on sale so I paid $32 for them. The flower detail matches my dress. I also bought the heels- but I purchased them from Nordstroms website because it is free shipping both ways and the store didn't carry them. Here they are!

I wasn't planning on making personalized hangers - I was going to get simple wooden ones and add a ribbon bow. But when I saw these hangers in Walmart, I figured I can kill two birds with one stone. There was a 3-pack hangers with the wire across with the clips (like the groom's hanger on the picture). I got my FI to take away the wire from 2 hangers and kept the 3rd one as is for his pants. Next step - some wiring. And then I put the wires in the hanger's existing holes with some hot glue. It took me literally an hour to make all 3 hangers. There is still a bow to add.
Tip: use the paper template to align your letters against. So much easier that way to keep it straight.

Not sure about the trial. I just copy-pasted what was in the document they sent me. I'm going for makeup only since I'll be doing simple curls and should be able to handle it myself. You can contact them about the trial. I remember seeing somewhere that it's 40% of the hairstyle price, but I might be mistaking.

I got the price list from the resort SPA (spabpcle@bahia-principe.com) for makeup and hair. Just thought I'd share.

I guess in my case I should answer the question "How small is your wedding?"
We invited 14 close relatives and friends, and only 3 will be joining us, which is within our expectations. We wanted a small intimate ceremony since the beginning.

4. No one in my family or his immediate family has ever gone to a DW.
I have nearly the same reasons.
Initially we were planning to hold the wedding in Russia (at the Black sea) as my family is living there. It was too budget heavy and things also got complicated. But when our best friend, who's going to hold the ceremony, drew me a picture: "Imagine both of you barefoot on the beach somewhere in the Caribbean", - I just couldn't resist that idea!

I'm so glad to see this thread! I'm right in the research for the undies. I'll be topless under the dress, maybe will go for a Nu Bra for the evening as I change the dress. And I cannot make up my mind for the panties! I'd love to have something comfortable, more of a cotton, but on the other hand I want something in cute/sexy lace. I guess half-and-half (cheecky with lace trim) will be a fair trade off...

Well, the picture is not exactly what I would do - it's more of an idea for the layout. I'd use garden hooks 36-48" long, like these: http://www.gardensupplyinc.com/images/ShepherdHooksSolarLightGardenStakes.jpg

Thanks for the ideas. We are holding a small intimate ceremony with only 2-3 guests, so there won't be chairs. AND I don't want to walk "down the aisle".... Basically the main purpose of the stakes and fabric would be to "close" the ceremony location and make it a little bit more private. So I'm not even sure if it will be worth the effort.
-
With 2 months left till my wedding I've got a question arisen. Should I do/bring my own aisle decorations? The resort is a little bit limited in the decor available. They are going to put an arch on the beach with fabric and flowers, and the only additional deco they can offer is the rose petals for the aisle. And I don't want aisle runner at all...
What I'd like to have is 3 hooks or stakes on each side of the arch with some fabric and pomanders, starfish or whatever I come up with. Roughly something like this:
But I've got a number of concerns! How to bring all of this in your luggage? And how to make sure these things are going to hold in the sand?
Did anybody bring their own decorations to the DW or plans to? Ideas, suggestions, advice?

Ha-ha. That's 90% close to what my FI will be wearing. And in fact, we got him the Old Navy shirt.

Try that one... This is a little different. We got ours last summer and they are long-sleeved I think (and the boys are planning to roll up the sleeves after to keep it casual). This is the short-sleeved version. But it is a similar style and structure.
This is more casual than ours... but you can see the bouts on plain white without a tie or jacket. Again, short sleeves though. But at least you get the idea.

I believe a 6K budget is quite realistic, and DIYs are saving so much! I did the invitations, my bouquet and his boutonniere, my bridal flip flops, birdcage veil. Will be doing myself the thank you cards, the favors and wedding programs. What I also like about DIY projects is that you can get exactly what you want.

Our budget is at 5K. Who can beat that? We'll have 3 guests with us, and I'm pretty sure that's going to be the wedding of my dream. After going through the wedding of my sister with 100+ guests several years ago I realized that I don't want a big wedding at all. I just don't think spending several thousand dollars more will make me happier and make my "I do" any more special.
Cost breakdown:
Trip for 2 (flight + resort) - 3000$
Photography - 800$
Dresses (ceremony and reception) - 300$
Groom's attire - 100$
Rings (titanium with gold inlay) - 250$
The rest goes on hair & makeup, accessories, bouquet & boutonniere, wedding arch on the beach.

All my doubts are gone now. I was thinking about launching 1 lantern to honor deceased relatives, mainly my mom who passed away just over a year ago. I was doing some research, and when many little things and hick-ups came together, I started hesitating whether it's a good idea at all. Instead I will make nice cards listing deceased relatives and thanking those who are with us. Maybe that's not as spectacular as the sky lantern, but definitely a safer, simpler and environment friendly way.

Oups! I didn't notice there are 10 pages of discussions. Should have quoted the 1st post...
Lots of amazing bouquets in here!

It looks just great! Amazing job! How much did it cost you in total?

Nice gesture and beautiful moment. I wanted to do something to mainly honor my mother who passed away a year ago (cancer). I think she was the one who wanted to see us having a ceremony the most! I had a blurry thought about sky lanterns, but it sounded to me like something complicated to bring with you on a weddingmoon. How do you arrange it on your side?
