  1. We have stayed at both hotels. Both are good depending on what your'e wanting in decor. The RPM has recently changed to a very purple hotel, and there is still some reno's on going. the RPRM is still the elegant white and wrought iron. I think the service and the restaurants are almost identical at both. Riu Palace Mexico *RPM* is closer to the disco *right across the street for dancing* while the RIU Palace Riviera Maya is closer walk to downtown Playa Del Carmen. The newly renovated rooms at he RPM appear to be much smaller than the rooms at the RPRM. If given the choice to return, either of the hotels are nice and the food is good at both. As per wedding,,,,,,be careful as they are not like having a wedding in Canada,,,they do not pay attention to details unless you are willing to over pay.
  2. HI to whom ever this may concern. I emailed directly to the Riu Palace Mexico AND the Riu Palace Riviera Maya. They have assured me that A: there is no additional charges for someone attending a wedding at the RPM and yet staying at the RPRM B: the only additional costs would be if the wedding couple is throwing a meal in a private restaurant. If anyone needs the information I can forward you the email and or the email address of the person/s I spoke with regarding this matter. Originally they told my neice she would have to pay extra BUT when I emailed in to say we were staying AT the RPRM and attending a wedding at the RPM,,,,it was confirmed not once but three times that there is no additional charges for attending the wedding. So you can stay at a higher RIU than where the wedding is taking place and not pay extra. To date the RPM and the RPRM are sister hotels and of equal value so there is no charge to go back and forth between the two other than to go to the private restaurants.

  5. HI, to whom it may concern, My niece is getting married at the Riu Palace Mexico. My entire family is staying at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya. I was told if we stay at the the RPRM we can also go to the RPM. My next questions are: A: should there be any additional costs for us to go to the wedding being we are not staying at that particular Riu property B: she is having a meal so what will the additional costs be fore my family of six *6* to come (realizing meals can vary in price,,,what would the price range be per person being highest cost to lowest cost) C: Reason for asking these questions is I think she is having a hard time with costs so I would like to pay for our familes meals being we are told they will be extra since we are staying at a different hotel.
