  1. Hello Everyone. It's been a while since I've been on the site. Glad to see all of the November brides are more comfortable with the resort and some of the challenges. I, too, decided to forgo the DJ and will create a playlist on my IPOD for the wedding. This is FREE!!!!!! I decided to do my ceremony at the garden gazebo, cocktail hour at the beach and reception on the pool terrace. My wedding is small and only about 35 ppl. I'm getting more excited as the official countdown begins. Has anyone had any luck with shipping things in advance, also, can anyone tell me how accessible bottle water is at the resort? I have a few older relatives with health problems joining us and need to make sure their refrigeratiors stay stocked. Wishing everyone a beautiful wedding and lifelong marriages.
  2. Hello SimplenSweet. Thanks for the info re the reception. I didn't realize the cruise was an option. More decisions I was just assigned a new WC, Bianca and she seems really nice, accomodating and patient. I'm probably going with the Chill Out Chic package with very simple touches. I, too, will have to pay additional for guests because the package only covers 24 and right now we're at 38 and counting. Again, we opted for the destination wedding to alleviate the stress that can be caused by large families (mine) and because my fiance loves the beach. We will be staying at the resort for our honeymoon for an additional 10 days. I'm hoping this will afford us an upgrade to the Reserve at minimal charge. Just starting to work with a local company to determine shipping things ahead of time but reading some of the other bride's experiences has me a little nervous. I was thinking of shipping things like cases of water, welcome bags, fans etc. Anyone have any advise or recent experiences with this? I'm listening. Good luck to all of you who are planning your weddings and maybe our paths will cross during our visit to the DR.
  3. Yes, VERY HELPFUL!!!! Thank you. That just helped me make one important decision. I just happened to come across this website in an arbitrary search for ideas and it's been my favorite resource so far. The information is helpful and the first hand stories and advise is priceless. Thank you ladies for sharing your experiences! I'm sure I'll have more questions soon.
  4. Too funny. I am a December 1, 2012 bride and am just really starting to focus on the details of the wedding (I know, I know) but am extremely frustrated. I thought the idea of a destination wedding would limit my stress but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm very visual and haven't visited the resort so I'm torn between the beach and the "Garden Gazebo" which is what I'm currently confirmed for. I haven't had my planning call just yet but I have a million questions about what's actually included in the decor with the packages. Are the flowers in the pictures along the aisle included or extra? If you have reception on the beach did you need to rent a dance floor? I saw someone posted sand fleas come out at night and that scares me. My wedding is at 2:00 with the cocktail hour at 4 and reception from 5-8; should I be nervous about sand fleas? SimplenSweet, I agree, I'm a little overwhelmed by all the decisions and mixed messages. If anyone has additional insight please no I'm open to opinions and advise
