It's a pagan ceremony and it involves a lot of rituals. If you aren't pagan, which I'm guessing you aren't since you don't really know anything about this, I'm not sure this is something you would be interested in. This to me is more religous than unity candle or sand ceremony.

If I were you, I'd go directly from your wedding in Michigan to Mackinac Island, Michigan. It's close, so you don't have to hassle an airport, flights, time chages, etc. You can just get there quickly and start your HM immediately. And they have everything you are requesting there. Or if you are determined to go far away on a plane, go to San Diego,. Weather is always perfect, and they have a delightful mix of beaches, museums, sports, day trips, etc. We HMed there.

We had an afternoon wedding. We started at 2 though, so we didn't do a full meal. We selfcatered a ton of finger food and set it out on a couple of tables, buffet style. We didn't have a DJ or a dance floor, but we did have background music playing. It was much more lowkey and relaxed, but a lot of fun. We had kids running around all over the place, everyone was mingling and laughing, and it was a blast. It lasted about 3 hours, which was perfect.
