  1. Hi Joanna, Whew that is a lot planned! I am so jealous that you're going to Rick's Cafe. I really wanted to visit there but trying to coordinate everyone has been a slight nightmare. We have people flying in from California to Pennsylvania and trying to communicate plus coordinate arrivals and tours hasn't gone smoothly. I did manage to get a Catamaran to Margaritaville for Friday but only half of our group has signed up. I would love to swing by and see your wedding set up! You're more than welcome to come by mine too, for entertainment since you'll already know how things go. I think we have slightly changed our tune about having the reception at Aunt Ruby's. We are now going to do the Mediterranean restaurant since its so small we will reach capacity with just our group, basically getting it private without having to pay for the fee, and its indoors. We are do a similar rehearsal night to you. Dinner at the Japanese restaurant, then bonfire on the beach, and releasing of the wishing lanterns on Wednesday night. Every evening (Sunday-Saturday) we are telling our group to meet at the Lobby bar at 5:45pm as a rendezvous point and am going to try to get us group dinner reservations at some restaurant every night. Kinda told guests if they wanted to come great, if not no worries. Just know most of our group rarely gets to see each other so should be a party all week. Well feel free to reach out and contact me via email if you want to compare details or simply chat about this exciting time! Just PM me and I can shoot you my email or vice versa.
  2. Thanks Allie! I will take that into consideration. Did you privatize the Calabash? How many people did you have? Thanks!
  3. Hi Joanna, I will have to join the FB group. Could be a good source of information. That is so excited that well be down there at the same time! I am sure well run into each other! I'll just look for whoever is in a wedding gown on the 1st! I have been using my TA as well but to no avail. I'm to the point of just giving up lol and whatever happens, happens. I have a zillion decorations items that will make any place look good so I just can't decide on locations for anything. I want to do the beach ceremony, but the FI wants the Lazy River for privacy. I just really want the huppah and the way the beach looks. What are you doing? And also, the reception dinner I can't decide between the Calabash and Aunt Ruby's. I suppose the more sensible option is to do it indoors, but again I love the pictures of the receptions at Aunt Ruby's. I have recently read that smaller groups can rent the Calabash (most recent was 50 people). So good luck! I only have 38 people (which includes our photographers who are flying down.) I would love to do a private reception but A) I don't think I meet any minimums and I don't want to spend $800 to privatize it. I am still wavering back and forth but I think we plan to do just a dinner and then do the reception reception at the Blue Moon Bar. What is your timeline looking like right now? I am pushing my ceremony as late as possible so that its hopefully cooler.
  4. Oh man, I have so many questions. For anyone who booked Dj Kevan or used Jamaica Wedding Dj Services, Do you have to pay the vendor fee to get them onto the resort? Also when you pay for a private reception at Blue Moon Bar, which supposably includes a DJ for 2 hours, does that money go towards using Jamaica Wedding DJ services or is their fee on top of the $400 for the private reception? Thanks!
  5. Hi Heather, Thanks for the response. That was my worry with the Huppah. I am extremely OCD as well with this whole thing. I have printed out pictures of how I want the ceremony site set up and just don't know how it will look at the Lazy River location. I guess I will just have to wing it once I get down there. Did you privatize the Calabash? We are torn between Aunt Ruby's and the Calabash (outside versus inside with AC). What was the temperature in the evening? Did you or your guests feel like it was too hot and muggy around 7pm to have an outside dinner? Thanks for all the help, as I am sure you understand how frustrating it is to plan with no responses from the WC. I am sure they will do a great job down there but being so Type A, I want everything planned before I get there. Thanks!
  6. Heather ~ I was wondering if you had an option to use the Huppah at the Lazy River location or if it was only the arch allowed there? I am having the same concern with privacy at the beach location. I would like to use a Huppah and have bought a lot of fabric to use with it. Also what time was your ceremony? Would you mind posting your schedule for your wedding day? I am a month out exactly and have not heard from the WCs. Just trying to plan everything on my own. My tenative schedule is: Formal Family Pictures: 5PM Wedding Ceremony: 6PM Cocktail Hour: 6:30PM Dinner: 7:30PM Private Reception at Blue Moon Bar: 8:30PM-10:30PM Then Head to the Disco. Just want to know if there are areas that need more time. Thanks and Congrats!
  7. heather1214 ~ I was wondering if you were given the option of using the Huppah at the Lazy River location or if you can only use the arch. I am having the same concern with the lack of privacy on the beach but I would like the Huppah. Also what time was your ceremony? Would you mind posting your schedule? Thanks!
  8. Hi HayMonBride ~ Thats so exciting that you're getting married on the 1st! We'll be there at the same time! I have tried to contact Nicole or Tiffany and haven't gotten any response. I was having issues with legal paperwork and had to have my travel agent get responses from them but besides that, I've heard nothing. I am doing almost all my research and planning off of this website. I think I have almost everything planned and they will have to live with my schedule and plans. If you have any specific questions, feel free to post and I will see if I've stumbled upon an answer in my searches. Are you almost all set to go? What dates are you down there? We are at the resort June 29th-July7th.
  9. Iberostar Rose Hall Suites July 4th, 2013! Already packing my suitcase!
  10. Just in case anyone is curious, I was quoted for a private reception dinner on the beach. I haven't seen a post about it so I thought I'd share. Its $55/person and is set up on the beach right in front of Aunt Ruby's. The dinner has a set menu. I can forward you the document they sent me if you just send me your email address.
  11. Hello All, New to this whole posting thing... been lurking for a good year, but I am getting married on July 4th, 2013 at the Suites and am figuring out that the only way to get answers are on this post! Does anyone know if they allow you to have your wedding reception at Aunt Ruby's even if you don't meet their minimum number of guests according to their wedding information sheets? I believe you have to have a minimum of 50 people according to that page, and I only have 38 but am still hoping to do the reception there. I can't get a hold of the wedding coordinator so I am just going to go ahead and set everything up for the reception there. Also, anyone know how many people they seat at those round tables at Aunt Ruby's? On this forum it says 10 but looking at pictures of people's receptions there I am count only 8. Thanks !!
