About cjboardingpass

  1. Jenny000, Which part of the bahia are you staying at? I'm getting married the same day and we are staying at the Esmerelda. I was originally going to bring my own decorations but decided to change my mind ill probably go for a few flower arrangements for the tables and the ribbons for the chairs. We are going to be around 30 people so it should be enough. I made fan/programs and also as the thank you gift we are going to pick up some bottles of rum and decorate them with our theme colors. Probably think of a few last minute things before we leave but for now that's what I've got. We booked the photographer there. I got a quote with them and it was a lot better than if I brought one from here and payed the fee the hotel charges to bring an outside photographer. And their photos are nice. They are located in the resort so you get your pics before you leave and everything is done there so there's no leaving the resort if you don't want to. They have packages for every budget and you choose exactly what you want once you get there. For the rest of the stuff, (flowers, cake etc, ) the wedding coordinator told us that it's all finalized once we get there. It's a little nerve racking but if you check out the "Arrecife Bahia Principe Bavaro" page on Facebook, you'll see the flowers and what not that the hotel does and they are great, nothing to worry about. ( that is the name of the photographer that the hotel offers so at the same time you can see their photos).
  2. Decided to book the photographer from the resort! Added them on Facebook and they have WAY more pictures there than on their website. And they have packages that fit everyone's budget. Starting at 500$ and go all the way up to 3000$ depending on what you want. They're office is at the resort so there is no leaving to. Choose your pics and they deliver the next day which is awesome. Has anyone have the garden grill menu? I have booked the piscis and we chose the garden grill menu. But in the info the WC sent me the menu sounds odd. I'm trying to print out a few menus for the tables for people to know what they are eating. But in the info they say one of the starters was meat broth. Not too sure how to describe that other than soup lol. When I asked to give a description of the menus she sent me the same menus I already had. And question for the people who have already gotten married there, were the flowers expensive? And is there a big choice in wedding cakes? And bouquets?
  3. That happened to us also. We originally wanted to leave the week before ( the same week as you) but it got sold out before I could even confirm with my TA so we chose the week after. Seems like a lot of people are getting married then. I've decided to make my own centre pieces. Bought a few things on eBay and I'm going to make them when I get there. (a paper flower type thing with a light inside.Kind of thinking of putting it on a stick and then in a vase. To make it look like a flower) nothing too crazy just enough to add some decoration and color. Was reading online and people suggested bringing paper decorations cause they dont weight anything. And also to give decorations and accessories to your friends and family so that the weight is distributed in the luggages. My TA is going to ask a friend of hers to get us the rum. It'll be cheaper than buying it through the hotel. She said they're between 3-4$ a bottle. Which is pretty reasonable. Thought it was a good idea for the gift since most people will end up buying a little to bring home anyways. Is it just me or do you find it a little nerve racking that you can't really choose until you get there. (flowers cake etc) I'm a pastry chef and it really makes me nervous to not now what my cake will look like lol. Are you guys getting married on the beach? The beach "gazebo" is gorgeous. A friend of mine went to the resort and took a few pics. Sooo nice.
  4. Wow! Your getting married the day after me and we are leaving from the same city! How weird is that? Lol. We are leaving Montreal May 11th. Are you leaving then also? We have one couple from Edmonton coming with us and they had to book the hotel room and then buy a flight separate. They will most probably have a lay over somewhere. Not too sure where they haven't booked their flight yet. Who did you book with? We got a price of 1350$ tax and service fees included with Transat. Booked with a family member that is a TA. Are you bringing your own decorations for the reception? I was thinking of doing it but I'm not too sure. And we also wanted to give everyone a bottle of rum as a party favor, probably going to buy it there. Are you getting a photographer from Montreal? Or the one that the hotel offers? I'm not sure what I want to do. Happy planning! Just realized that your not getting married may 15 th! Oops!

  6. I talked to the WC and asked what the DJ plays and she said thy will play anything you want. I booked the DJ also I'm not sure I really won't to deal with the music situation. For the photos i looked at the web site for the photographer and they do some great shots. I really like the trash the dress idea. ( mind you not sure if I have the heart to do it depends on how much the dress costs lol) I have a few guests that are great with cameras and I'm leaning nor towards having them take the pics.
  7. We are expecting around 40 people. I reserved the private terrace dinner at the piscis. And the beach gazebo ceremony. So excited! Can't wait. Feels so far away! When are you arriving at the hotel? Ou group gets there the 11th.
  8. Thanks for the info about the wedding judge. I wasn't aware of that. Im getting married there in May 2013 and Ive been contacting the WC lately she she never mentioned it. Did you book the photographer? I'm in the fence about it. I'm not sure if it's worth the extra money. Since we do have people in our family that ar very good with cameras.
  9. Hey, I just booked my wedding for May 14th. Were staying at the esmerelda. I'm so excited. We have been speaking with Minel the wedding coordinator and she is great. Very quick with emails. And gives a lot of info. Were on the fence about booking the photographer. ( not sure if we just want a family member to take pics). What do you think? And what about the DJ for the private dinner? is it worth it?
