  1. Hi Ladies, For those of you who have already been to GPLH and been married, what is the best buffet (or does it make a difference?) And which one is most accessible/central? Does it have a name? My fiance and I are planning a parent's brunch and I want to let them know where to meet but I can't seem to find the name of any of the buffets, or where they are located. Did any bride write an itinerary/welcome letter to her guests letting them know the activities of the week upon arrival? I'm in the middle of doing it now and wondering if there are examples or templates that I could see. 29 days!!!!!
  2. Lene1112. . . I love Alain Hottat's work! We had narrowed our list down to 3 photographers as well and he was my favourite. We are going with someone else (www.photosbylam.com) and I am super happy about her, but he definitely does some great shots!! Much success in choosing a photographer
  3. YAY! Ladies, will either of you be at the resort between Feb 2-9? That's when we will be there, getting married on Feb 7. CourtBestBride, I'd love to use your candles if you're leaving them; that would save us from having to bring them. We are also getting married on the beach at 4pm with the Waves of Love package. Please keep posting updates as the time gets closer and I'll do the same. I'm under the impression that the ipod hookup/speakers will be included for the ceremony but for the reception we'd have to pay. Not 100% but that was my impression. Our weddings are coming up so soon, what an exciting time! And at Lene1112, I am using Lindsay from www.photosbylam.com as my photographer, I saw the True Colours photographs and I didn't love them. She even has some pics of people at GPLH, which is pretty cool. Hope this helps.
  4. Hi EMM2013, congrats on the engagement! I also think it's ridiculous to pay an extra $20 for a chair for each guest to sit at your ceremony and then an extra $45 for a reception. We are going to do a private cocktail hour instead to cut the cost down. It's only $15 per person and it includes 10 appetizers per person plus a private bar. If you go over, the private bar is an extra $6/hour. I've just had a friend do this (at a different resort) and she said it was perfect! and that they didn't need anything else. I'm just reluctant to pay the extra money for food given that we're at an all-inclusive, and with what Alysia85 had happen with the band playing and drowning out their first dance. I'm getting married in February 2013 so I can tel you how it goes once we do it!
  5. Hey MindyLuv, congrats on your engagement! Your idea of your day sounds very similar to what we are having in Feb 2013. I can keep you posted as we decide. . .and once it happens I can send pics. We are going with Waves of Love package, and were told that we can have our reception on the beach because we are the last wedding of the day. This means that your wedding will have to be at 4pm (my photographer told me thats the best time for pics anyways so thats double great!) We are still debating on if we're doing a beach reception because I am wearing a tea length dress and love high heels. . so I dont know if I want to be barefoot for the majority of the day. Much success to you!!!!!
  6. Alysia85 congrats!!! Your pictures are beautiful and thank you thank you for that review! It's almost exactly what I want, with the steel drum band and the show afterwards. Did you walk down the aisle to the steel drum band? The gazebo looks great, but we really want to get married on the beach. Does anyone have pictures of the Waves of Love package at the beach? The website pictures look awesome, but I want to see a real wedding picture at this location please. Also, I read somewhere that the Hors d'Oeuvres Reception at Your Ceremony Site was enough food to feed guests, even enough for leftovers. . . .I am thinking of having my whole reception at the beach. After our ceremony, have a signature cocktail for guests while we get a few formal pics taken, and then introduce us, speeches and a few dances while hors d'oeuvres are being served, and then have the ZURIELEMAKA show?!?!?

  8. Hi Michelle, I love that you just got back and are so pleased with the resort. It also helps to put my mind at ease. I looked at the True Colours website and wasn't happy with the pictures, but I did find some fantastic photographers in Jamaica. Lindsay Moleirinho (who we are using) www.photosbylam.com and Sandy May (www.sandymayphoto.com) were my two favourite and Lindsay is actually shooting at our location this month! Hope this helps.
  9. What wedding planner are you using? How have you finalized so much so quickly? I haven't heard from Corita regarding any of my questions. I am so glad you can change your 'Waves of Love' colours! We are getting the same package and want pink and white colours, and we are also getting married at 4pm on the beach. . .one week later!!! I am excited to hear how your planning continues to evolve. How much are you paying (per person) for a private reception? We are using Lindsay A. Moleirinho as our photographer. . .her website looks awesome and her prices are very reasonable. ( www.photosbylam.com )
  10. Hey Meaghan, I'm getting married Feb 2013 at GPLH at 4pm on the beach. Still deciding whether we are going to have a private reception or not. What are you paying for your private reception? I have seen different prices, like $20 a head (after 8 ppl) for a place setting at our wedding packages theme and somewhere else I read about a $25/person food charge??? I can't fathom paying $45 a head for my guest to eat at an all-inclusive resort. I'd appreciate any insight. I am going to make an itinerary with optional activities, a 'Carter vs.McInnis' beach volleyball game, Rick's cafe, Dunn River Fall's, etc. We are going to rent a boat for a cocktail hour after the ceremony.
  11. I really hope the construction is finished by 2013. We're getting married in Feb 2013 and it would be awesome to have a beautiful, quiet environment.
  12. I just looked these up and they look really cool. Such a great idea for an all-inclusive!! And very reasonable! Thanks for the idea.
  13. I am booking from Toronto to Montego Bay for our Feb 2-9, 2013 wedding. We are using Valerie from Battlefield travel in Stoney Creek and we are not going to pay near that much! We wanted our guests to pay under $1500 for a week and we're pretty sure that will happen (*crossing my fingers*) She told me prices drop about 9 months before you book, however; our prices have not dropped yet. You are getting married in prime "spring breakers" time, so it may be a bit higher then. If you can get a hold of Valerie she should be able to give you a good deal! Hope this helps.
  14. Hello ladies, I am so excited that I found this blog. I am getting married at GPLH in Feb 2013, so technically not a 2012 bride, however; I am stressing out like I am. We are planning this wedding from Ghana, West Africa, (where we met and currently live) my fiance is American and I am Canadian so adding a fourth country where the wedding will take place is quite stressful. So glad we can bounce ideas and suggestions off each other.
  15. Hello ladies, I am SO glad I came across this!!! What help we will all be for stressful brides planning from afar. I'm getting married in Feb 2013, so not technically a 2012 bride, but stressing like I am, eek. My fiance and I met (and currently live) in Ghana, West Africa, he is American, I am Canadian and getting married in Jamaica adds a fourth country so all help/advice is welcomed to ease my mind.
