We are getting married in July at the Riu Palace Peninsula. We went down in June 2012 and stayed at both the Riu Las Americas and the Riu Palace Peninsula. We chose the Peninsula due to its larger foot print (more pools, bigger beach, ocean view rooms, etc.). We took pictures with the photographers at both resorts and even though we are getting married at the Peninsula we are using the photographers from the Las Americas. I personally thought there was a large difference in quality of photographers experience and ideas and mostly importantly the quality of the final photos. The photo company is called adventure photos. We also went down in November and meet with a wedding coordinator. The weddings take place just below where the buffet is located. On the sand just before you reach the edge of the property or in the grassy areas, what they call the "garden." You can choose your date by going to the Riu's website under the weddings area and selecting your date and time. Once you complete everything, they will send you an e-mail to lock in your date and time. Hope that helps! -Liesa
