  2. Hi Ladies! I am also getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe, but staying on the Punta Cana side. It is on April 5th, 2013, so almost 3 months away! We are getting excited. I was there 3 years ago for my brother and sister-in-law's wedding and absolutely fell in love with it, so we are heading back for a round 2 wedding! My brothers wedding was at the Il Cappriccio with a private reception, and it was awesome! We were able to stay later than 11pm, the WC was great! This time around, for my wedding, we also booked the Il Cappricio private reception. However, we were originally looking at have 30 or so guests (with the max for dinner being 40), but people seem to be booking late and we are into the 40's now. Has anyone come across this dilemma of more people booking and going over the expected capacity for the reception dinner? I am tempted to wait until we get there and just ask the WC to let it slide, and we would pay for the extra people seated, but i am afraid that it won't be possible and i would get screwed out of a place to have the reception (or people will have to eat elsewhere, and only 40 people will be allowed at the dinner). Anyone have any information on this? Thanks! Lindsay
  3. Hello ladies! Anyone getting married at the gran bahia principe punta cana in april? I am booked in for the 3-10th, getting married on the 6th! Can't wait! Almost 4 months away... time has flown! If anyone is getting married there, or have been married their recently and have any tips/information they want to pass on, post away! I would really love to know if they allow sky lanterns at the resort. because my fiancé and i have recently lost our remaining grandparents, and would like to share a special part of the night with them through the lanterns. we are planning on playing "strawberry swing" by coldplay. lindsay b.
  4. hello all!! just wanted to send a quick message out to all those who have been to gran bahia principe for their wedding! i am starting to plan for an april/may 2013 wedding there, and feel way in over my head....already! my brother and sister-in-law were married at a gran bahia in punta cana, and i absolutely loved it; loved the idea, and how the two families just seemed to get even closer with a week together!! i haven't spoke to any travel agents or "destination experts" on the details, but i figured i would hit up the BDW forums to get some ideas first. now, i may not be clicking the right things, but i seem to get a lot of information from 2009/10. just looking for some current information if there is any out there few of the things i was curious about: - how long in advance did you find the resort and start booking - how long in advance did you send out "save the dates" - where did you have the reception dinner (on the beach, at a restaurant) i've seen some YOUTUBE videos of people having their dinner outside on a patio, but haven't seen any pictures of videos of what the restaurants are like. was it closed off for wedding, or were other vacationers allowed to eat there? - did you hire a photographer? if so, on the resort or from off? - what wedding package did you go with? is there MUCH difference in the end (is the "best" package above and beyond the rest) i'm sure there are 1,000 more questions I'm forgetting, but its just a few i can think of right now. thank you to anyone who can help me out! littlebroon
