  1. I'm flying Air Transat and this is the first I have heard of this?? There website Specifically says you can bring it http://www.airtransat.ca/en/Information-for-travellers/Before-you-go/Baggage/What-you-can-bring-weight-and-size?ID=25&type=voyageur&tmpl=GEN 1 per person, Not exceeding 135 x 60 cm (53 x 23.5 in.), Free of charge Exceptionally, a wedding dress in a non-rigid garment bag, with measurements not to exceed 135 x 60 cm (53 x 23.5 in), may be carried on board, and can be laid out or gently rolled up in the overhead bin. There are no closet facilities on board our aircraft. The dress may be carried in addition to a regular-sized carry-on bag. I have known dozen of brides that have never ran into this issue.. I would go back to them on this.. and point out there policy on the website that clearly states you can take it.
  2. I emailed her today and told her to please reconfirm this... as I thought it was a bit ridiculous that everyone here is saying they do not, but yet I do... I honestly don't mind paying for the hair dresser.. fine.. I get that.. but not for both of them. That's just ridiculous. If I had of known that it would have been $200 more.. I probably won't have booked. I know other brides that probably wont either for that price. That's NOT helping the local talent in Jamaica. I think its a terrible policy that Iberostar needs to think long and hard about.
  3. I'm going to go back to Nicole on this and see. I was told previous you have to pay Vendor fees for service that are offered by the resort. Airbrush make -up is not.. so I don't see why I need to pay a vendor fee. As for the hair.. I can see that I guess.. it sucks.. but I heard from others that Rashel said you should have to pay that.. Anyways. .I will see what Nicole has to say an update. But yes.. $200 on top of it is expensive!
  4. Just an FYI as this question comes up a lot. I have been speaking with Nicole and have my price breakdown for my wedding that coming up and she said YES, you do have to pay a Vendor Fee for Rashel Edwards. I have to Pay $200 for her and hairstylist. ... I'm not sure if this has changed.. but this is what I have in my charges quote from the resort.

  6. Ha! I'm heading down for my wedding in less then 3 weeks. I only got the final detail document yesterday, and that was after I contacted them about it. .. and I haven't gotten any responses on questions in the past few months. My nerves are being tested that's for sure.. I'm trying to just breath.... and stay calm and have faith that they are miracle workers once you arrive Just sucks as I have so much work to do.. that Im waiting on them to respond before doing.. the obviously don't realized that people are waiting on them. I know they are busy.. I get that.. I just wish Iberostar would hire someone JUST for answering questions!
  7. I went through my travel agent which I'm sure speeds up the process. It still took a week to get a confirmation from them once I submitted the forms. I can say that just trying to email the coordinators can take forever to get a response. Sometimes upwards to 3 months!! If you are working with a TA, I would suggest going through them. If not.. keep doing what your doing.. call, email until you get a response.
  8. How about doing a Semi-Private? That's what I'm doing. You can have the restaurant for 2 hours where you are the only ones in there.. for $450. I assume the Mins came into play as with the wedding going on at the resort, it was making it near impossible for non wedding guest to get reservations at the a la Carte restaurants. Booking out a whole restaurant for say 30 people .. means that the 100 people that would normally eat there that night need to go elsewhere, making a bag log. I know it sucks.. but I also see the reasoning behind it.
  9. We are in the same boat... we choose to have a DW as we wanted to trim our guest list and costs... it did save us money but we thought it would be about $15,000... its becoming a lot more then that. We have 2 bridesmaids, 2 groomsman for a total of 54 guest and our breakdown is: Wedding Package (Fees, License, Cake, Champagne, Dinner): $2928 Music (DJ, Steel Pan Band): $1150 Flowers (Bouquets, Boutonnière, Centerpieces, etc) : $2400 Cocktail hour, bonfire and Bar : $2648 Entertainment: $1110 Brides Attire (Dress, shoes, jewelry): $2940 Makeup and hair (bridal party): $510 Grooms Attire: $780 Wedding Rings: $3470 Bridesmaid and Groomsman Gifts: $800 Photographer : $2000 Travel/Accommodations (for 2): $3570 Gift bags: $950 Favors: $250 Invitations: $350 Which is close to $26,000. .. and I'm sure I'm missing stuff. That doesn't include the engagement ring or honeymoon which adds a huge chunk.. but we did a honeymoon registry so we know that we will get money towards that which will really help out at this point as by the time this wedding is over, we won't be able to afford to go on a honeymoon!
  10. Holly!! Wow! You look stunning! Congrats on your recent wedding! How was everything? Did it work out like you hoped?
  11. Congrats! The Cost all depends on you, what you want, and how many extras you choose. The pricing I have is for 2012 (and I believe I will be based on this for my wedding coming up as I booked in 2012) Things have changed quite a bit for 2013 onwards in regards to pricing. They have different wedding packages and inclusions. The packages themselves are fairly inexpensive ranging from $700-$2500. Its all the add ons the add up. I believe my wedding part (Wedding Package, Cocktail hour, semi-private dinner, bar, bonfire, DJ, music (steel pan)) for 52 people will cost roughly about $8000 ish. Then there is everything else.. Wardrobe, make/hair, travel, photographer, decor, flowers, gifts, etc..... which was the expensive part.. You can do it super cheap by just getting the basic package or you can go all out and get every add on you want. So cost is up to you. I went with a travel agent to get the booking for the wedding date and travel package just to make it easier. Everything after that, I did myself.
  12. This has been up in the air. I heard some brides whom are getting married at the Suites that they did not have to pay the Vendor fee for her. However, I was told by the WC at the suites that bringing an outside makeup and hair person you do. .. though I did not specify it was Rashel. I'm waiting now to hear back from the WC on this to confirm for sure. I will let you know. I can't comment on the other resorts for sure. .. but I do know that I have seen post of people saying they did have to pay.
  13. There are two forms of BC in Canada.. or at least that know of. One is small, cc size which doesn't contain their names. The other is a larger 5x7 that contains both your parents name (I believe both, but your fathers full name) This is the one you need. Its easy enough to get... I just applied for it online, though if you don't have it, you better get on it as you need to get the copy, have it notarized and then get it to the hands of the WC at least 30 days before your wedding.
  14. Ah.. I just looked at Oyster and see the bar.. yeah.. its small and to the back... never noticed it before Do you have any idea about the table layouts? Ive been confused as I see pictures of peoples weddings and they had round tables, but the WC told me it would be rectangular (which I'm not a fan of personally)
  15. I will try my best to . What exactly are you looking for pictures of? The restaurant itself? I'm not sure it has a bar? Maybe it does.. but I saw pictures of people with a table set up with wine and stuff laid out on that for their wedding. Anyways.. I will try and takes of the whole resto and set up.. as I know I would have loved to see it beforehand.. but there are very few out there!
  16. We have over 25 people so we had to either choose 1 set entree choose, or take an order and let the WC know beforehand how many of each dish we need. Im doing up little place cards (Folded so the stand up) On one side will have the guest name, and there table... on the other side it will have the Entree Choice they have chosen. They will sit at the table, and turn the Entree Choice facing out so the waiters can see who wants what dish.. I'm going to ask the WC to set this up on a table at the entrance to the restaurant so guest and grab there place card and place it at their table where they sit.
  17. Jodi-Ann Miller ( jmiller@taiflora.com ) is the contact I used. I'm getting married in about 6 weeks. I originally contact her back last May. In between emails the wait was 6 weeks or more sometimes... They aren't quick on response.. but I was able to get everything worked out with her. I think response may be quicker the closer to your wedding date. Also, I know the WC at the Resort will also work directly with them on your behalf as well.
  18. Wow, sorry to hear that. I honestly don't understand why she would want to do this. I assume there would be a lot of overlap of guest? I can't imagine going to two weddings at the same venue so close to one another. However, yours being first, would be the one that stands out in IMHO. I think you should really talk to her about it. Her wedding would actually be in the shadow of yours, does she really want that? Everything would be in comparison. ... (This may sound horrible.. but you could tell her this .. but guest may look back and some memories of the wedding days, and would be like "which wedding was that at ... (between you and her)) Its just to close together! Maybe suggest that if she wanted to get married there, to do it the following year and not the same year? That gives her more time to plan, but allows you both to have your special time. Or maybe offer to help her look up other venues that could suit her needs? Just talk to her but tell her honestly how it makes you feel. Good luck! I hope she has a change of heart.
  19. Wow.. really ? They have not contacted you yet even to fill out the final details form? You may want to try contacting them maybe? I assumed that by the one month mark you would hear... I know I'm waiting to do a bunch of things (seating plan, ordering some things) until I get the details figured out.. and I can't wait until a few days before!! That's ridiculous.. Anyways.. I hope they contact you SOON!
  20. Ive seen lots of pictures by outside photographers taken at the Beach / Suites and Grand... my photographer is an outside one (Misha Earle) .. though I'm getting married at the suites.. but yes there is a vendor fee, but its worth in IMHO. I assume this is a misunderstanding. I can't see how ANY hotel would forbid you from bringing in an outside photographer.. Photos are one of the major aspects of the day...and I know I wouldn't just settle one anyone!
  21. I contacted them at the beginning of my planning trying to get a quote on the Great House and some others (like Cinnamon Hill) However they kept beating around the bush and wouldn't tell me the prices of those (as I wouldn't tell them my budget, as I didn't really have one) So I assumed it was really pricey and gave up due to their lack of response... ah well.. their loss! I did get a quote on having it at the Aqueducts and that was $5000US for Location, Seating, Reverend, Music, Champagne Toast, Bouquet and Boutonniere, wedding cake for 25 Guest. Just contact them directly via their site. http://rosehall.com/weddings/ They will send you a form with stuff to fill out for what you want and they quote you based on that.
  22. Alterations will depend completely one what your are getting done, and what type of dress it is. When I was shopping there was a couple of dresses I liked. One I needed to get some alterations done to it (which personally I did not think was a lot) but they quoted by about $1000. I didn't end up going for that dress due to the price of that! The dress I got, I have to get very little done to it... it fits well (has a corset back) so gives me lots of room for weight loss (or god forbid, weight gain!) so I really only need to get some minor adjustments. They told me to allow for $500 for alterations, but will probably be less. I have my first fitting on Wednesday .. so I guess I will find out for sure. I would suspect though that any bit of work that involved resizing would cost several hundred or more.. I would at least budget for that in case. When I was looking at dresses I told them what I wanted to get done and they gave me a general idea of the alteration costs.. so you could always ask to get a ballpark figure at least.
  23. I personally wouldn't do that and probably would be offended if you did so. I dont have sleeve Tattoos mind you, and I can understand where you are coming from, but I do have several friends with Tattoos like this and they have deep meaning and are a part of who they are. I think getting having photoshopped out is like almost being ashamed.. trying to hide it...change who they are .. though we know that's not the case.. it just comes across like that.
  24. I'm in the process of making this fans myself. If you use glue dots to hold the program to the fan itself it doesn't flap. They are a lot of work, but so cute once they are done!
