  1. I have to admit that I'm kind of annoyed with having our wedding at Iberostar. We have our date reserved at the Beach Resort, after after some wedding discssions over the weekend with my fiance we decided that we were going to look into the Suites. During this whole process we are really looking to keep things affordable for our guests since we are having roughly 40-50 people attending. Long story short, after a discussion with the WC at the Suites, I was told that we can get married at the suites, but our guests who stay at the Beach Resort will have to pay $30.00 pp to come over to our wedding. That's IN ADDITION to the $18.00 extra that I would have to pay for the wedding ceremony set up and dinner. They are making a fortune and it's totally ridiculous that they charge for people to come our wedding. I'm totally ready to give up on the whole destination wedding thing It's becoming more stressful planning a wedding away then it would be to just stay at home! I'm very dissapointed. Sorry for my venting, but does anyone else happen to feel this way? It just seems everytime I turn around it's extra money for this and extra money for that.....
  2. Hi Laura - I haven't received anything. I also have an email out to the WC at the resort. When I booked the wedding those prices weren't out yet and she quoted me the 2012 prices. If I find out anything I will let you know.
  3. Papoue - OMG that's awesome!!! I can't believe it's a year away already! It's definitely gotten more exciting! I just emailed my travel agent for updated rates so I can book the rooms and really start the whole planning process! It will be here before we know it! Are you getting married on the beach or the terrace? I haven't decided yet. I'm thinking the terrace since I would like it to be a little more private. I feel that on the beach everyone will standing around us in their bathing suits and am not really sure how I feel about that! LOL
  4. Papuoe - did you book your wedding for November yet? I booked mine at the Beach resort for 11-12-13.
  5. Laura2013 - I think that's what we are going to do. We talked about just going to the Grand. Is that what you are talking about? It just seems easier to do that and I've also heard really great things about that resort as well. However, I would love to know more about Sandals Whitehouse. No final decision has been made yet, but am definitely interested in knowing more about other resorts. We are having many guests coming to the wedding who are also making this their vacation. I told my fiance that although I love our family and friends very much, I don't want to see them after the wedding. OMG that sounds so horrible, but hey...it's my honeymoon! That is also another reason why I'm thinking I may want to change resorts. I agree with Fran too - change of scenery would be nice as I get bored as well. Ugh - decisions, decisions!!!!
  6. Hello everyone! Anyone else looking to change resorts for their honeymoon after the weddng? We are getting married at Iberostar Rose Hall Beach next year and was thinking of going to Ochos Rios or Negril. I've heard wonderful things about both. We were initially just going to switch to Iberostar Rose Hall Grand, but it would be a nice for change of scenery. If anyone has any info or experience staying in or is going to stay in Ochos Rios or Negril, any information would be greatly appreciated! One of our biggest things is that we don't want to incur alot of extra costs in doing this as far as travel. We know that staying sonewhere else is going to cost us, but we basically don't want to hop on another plan to get to our second destination. Thanks so much!!!
  7. I love the vases!!! are those real orchids? I'm currently looking for ideas - my wedding is at RHB in November 2013. I'm not that creative so all of the ideas on here help!
  8. My fiance sent a picture of a speedo and a bow tie and told me that he was wearing it for our beach wedding in Jamaica next year. I would post the picture that he sent to me, but it may be a little too risque! It gave me a good laugh, but I hope he's not serious. I will make sure that we go shopping for his attre TOGETHER!!!!
  9. OMG I love the decor - I'm interested in everything if it's still available from the linensto the burlap napkin rings.
  10. I met my fiance Don at a casino that just opened up not too far from where I live. It was the day after Christmas and I was feeling a little down since it was the first holiday since my previous boyfriend and I broke up. I tried to get a group of friends to come out with me, but everyone was spending time with their boyfriends or husbands, so I ended up going alone. I'm pretty outgoing, so I just struck up a random conversation with an older couple who was standing in the club inside the casino. After talking to them for some time, I found out they were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. I told them how much I admired them and how wonderful it is that couples stay together that long and I ended up spilling out all of my emotions to this couple about how I was so heartbroken and that I was never getting married.....you know, all of the stuff women feel after a horrible breakup. Well, only a few minutes later, a waitress brings me over a drink and told me it was from the gentleman across the bar. I politely waved to say "thank you" and carried on with my conversation. Next thing I know, this man approaches me. The look on the older couples face was the look of surprise and delight as I accepted an invitation for conversation with this man. I hung out with him and his friend for the rest of the night and had a blast. I totally forgot how I was feeling only an hour prior to meeting him. We laughed and we danced and then he took me out to breakfast. We went home only to text each other until the sun came up that morning. Our first date was on New Years Eve, 2009, after he asked me out by sending me the lyrics for "What Are You Doing on New Year's Eve" by Harry Connick, Jr. In August of 2010 we went on vacation to Disney World - our favorite place! Our second day there, we planned on going to the Magic Kingdom to have breakfast with Winnie the Pooh and friends. This was an absolute must since Piglet is my favorite. I was really looking forwad to this day and he knew it. The morning of our arrival, we walked along Main Street in search of finding the perfect photographer to take our picture in front of the Cinderella's Castle. I kept running over to the photographer I thought was close enough and he kept insisting that we get closer. Finally after what seemed liked he was being so picky to just have our picture done, Don went up to the photographer handed her the photo pass and whispered a few things in her ear. She had a huge smile on her face as she was snapping away. The next thing I know, Don asks me if I knew how much I loved him. As I turned around to answer him, he was getting down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. With what seemed like everyone standing around us, I bent down and kissed him and screamed "yes, I will be your wife". Everyone cheered and clapped with excitement. The rest of the day was so magical and something that I have never felt before. I truly felt like Cinderella for the rest of the day at the Magic Kingdom. Little did I know, that on that lonely night, on December 26, 2009, I would meet my prince charming. Dreams really do come true!!! We will be married in Montego Bay, Jamaica on 11-12-13!!
  11. Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Maryanna and my fiance and I are getting married at the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach in Jamaica on 11-12-13. We got engaged in August 2011 in Disney World and we just officially set and booked our date. It now finally feels so real!
  12. Hello everyone! I'm new to this site and have already found so much information, it's kinda overwhelming! LOL I recently booked my date at Iberostar Rose Hall Beach for 11-12-13 (cool date, huh?). I am also considering the Suites, but really want to make it reasonable for our guests to attend the wedding. We are thinking we will have about 30 + people attending. I've been getting mixed reactions from family about having a destination wedding, but I've read that will happen. Mostly everyone is very excited to be going to Jamaica for our wedding. I've read that people have had trouble keeping in contact with the WC there and I absolutely agree. I sent back my wedding agreement along with a copy of a credit card and having received confirmation that they received. It's just a little scary knowing they have our information and our wedding is still over a year away. I've also read that some of you have gotten prices for the packages for 2013? Is that true? I was told that the prices haven't come out for 2013 yet, so they sent me the 2012 prices. f anyone has that info and would like to share it, that would be wonderful!
