Thanks Tammy and Rach0636 - I appreciate your feedback. Today I spoke to the resort again - first the call centre then reservations, and then the weddings department. I spoke to a fantastic lady named Gabriela (Weddings Supervisor). She was extremely professional and understanding, she is going to be getting in touch with the groups team at the resort and will try to get us the best rate possible. She was so nice she even reserved our wedding date for us for a week (no deposit) while she makes arrangements on our rates :) I emailed her after we spoke and forawrded the screen shots I had taken (soooo glad I kept those), and she responded very promply. We'll see what she can do, at least things are looking up!

I had Gabi as my wedding coordinator. She was awesome! She is really on top of things and did an amazing job! Be prepared to wait a few days before she replies to your email. She gets over 100 emails a day.

Regarding the video, we booked the ultimate package which comes with a video, but we are upgrading to HD quality for $324. Just thought I would mention that it is an option. We have booked Juan Navarro for 8 hours of photography, and I'm not sure what to use our included photo shoot for. I was considering using the included photo shoot when we do our welcome gathering. Anyone else booking a different photographer? If so, what are you doing with the included photos?

    Hi Tiffany,

My husband and I booked a different photographer to shoot our wedding and TTD, and then we got our 50 resort photos that were included with the Ultimate Package of us around the resort. The photographer at the resort did an excellent job with all of our photos. They also included a free photo book. Now we have pictures of our wedding, TTD, as well as photos of just him and I around the resort.  Definitely take advantage of your free 50 photos. We are really glad we did.  Below are 2 photos of the photos we got taken with our package at the resort. I think our photographer was named Adventure Photos Photographer was named Juan Rodriguez??

You had the mexican trio play for your ceremony?  When exactly did they play - as the guests were arriving and being seated, and then for the procession and when you walked in etc?  Did they play for a bit afterwards for the champagne toast and cocktail or would that be too much time?  I was saying earlier that I would like to get some pictures after the ceremony on the beach with the mexican trio like Savs did, but I also like the idea of them playing for the ceremony...  just curious about how the timing all worked out.

    Thanks!

    Hi Lori,

I rented the sound system. The wedding coordinator suggested that I have the Mexican trio start playing as soon as the groomsman and bridal party started to enter. That way the guests would know that the wedding was starting. I gave the wedding coordinator a few mp3s of music that would play while my guests were seated. Yes, they did play a bit afterwards for the champagne toast. We did not have a cocktail. Since we had over 25 people, we decided to trade in the cocktail and use the money toward our dinner reception, which we extended for an hour. You can also get some photos with the Trio after the ceremony. They will stay around for that, make sure you ask them before they leave. They will definitely do that. Let me know if you have more questions. Happy to help! :-)

Did you request songs? or did they play anything?

I did not request any songs, since I was not familiar with any mexican trio music. I asked my wedding coordinator Gabi, and she said they will play some beautiful Mexican wedding music. She said something like Canon in D would not sound good. Whatever they played sounded awesome to me, and our guests loved it. I am sure you can request stuff if you want?

Im thinking of using the Mexican Trio for the Ceremony, will i still need to hire the sound system so are guests can hear us?

Yes, you should use the sound system so your guests can hear you! I had the Mexican Trio for the Ceremony and it was awesome! I would not have had it any other way! :-)

    Hello Ladies!

We got back from our wedding/honeymoon about 10 days ago and I finally got around to posting a review of DRC, where we got married on December 7th. The review is under the resort reviews section on this site. Everyone was so helpful on this forum, I really appreciated the advice, tips, etc. Thank you!! Like other recent brides on this forum, I'm happy to answer any questions- we had a small (20 people) wedding and didn't want to spend tons of money but have a nice and sophisticated beach wedding. And we planned all of it in less than six months all while undergoing a house renovation, leasing my house out, moving and being out of town for about a quarter of that time! ;-)

Wendy Hicks with Wright Travel handled our reservations and travel for us and our guests and was fantastic. Couldn't have pulled this off without her! At the resort, we used Anel and she was great! Here is our slideshow: http://061212jekauc.dreamsriveriacancun.adventurephotos.com.mx/#/jekauc/

Want to also say 'hi' to Kelly (KellyKellz) - it was so nice meeting you and Matt!! Hope you had a great rest of your honeymoon! :-)))

And just to reassure future brides- as other brides have said- do not worry, you are in great hands at DRC!!

    Happy New Year!

    Kelly

Hi Kelly! It was really awesome to meet you! I LOVE your slide show! You looked gorgeous! Hope you had a nice honeymoon! I saw your mother in law before we left. She said that you 2 went to another resort. If you are ever in Glen Allen, let me know! :-)

Once I get all of the pictures Anel took uploaded to facebook I will make it public and post the link for y'all to see everything. Seriously, this slideshow doesn't do everything justice! I will write a full review very very soon. I'm still overwhelmed with unpacking and getting everything back in order from the holidays!

I am planning on selling the table covers and chair sashes if teal is any of your colors. There are 40 chair sashes and 6 table overlays. If you are interested let me know and i'll let you know the price.

I also left all the pink lanterns at the resort because I didn't feel like wrapping them back up and packing them. So, if any of y'all are interested in using them, they are there for anyones use! There are 25 of them!

If you have any questions before I write my review just let me know :)

    Savs,

Love your slide show! You looked beautiful! You have been a huge help to us on here with planning. I hope you have a great new year!! :-)

  10. Very pretty! Im just wondering if you had to give them your final decision on the flowers before you got down there, or if you finalized them when you met with them a fw days before the wedding. Just trying to figure out if I have to decide now, or I can wait till I get down there. Its hard to imagine what exactly they will look like when you are changing things! I love your hair!! I am having a horrible time deciding between wearing it up or down. How did you decide? Did the salon at the hotel do it?
Rach0636- Yes, the salon did my hair. I took a few photos of the hairdo that I wanted and the spa did it identically. I had a lady name Victoria. She did an excellent job! I scheduled a trial session before the wedding just to make sure I liked the way she did my hair and makeup before the wedding. Like MCree said, take a lot of photos as examples and they will make your day perfect! MCree- you look stunning and I loved your set up as well! Congrats to you and your new hubby! :)

Thank you kelly! I cant wait to see your pictures!!!! That definitely gives me some piece of mind. Did you make all final decisions for everything including flowers and stuff when you met with your coordinator down there?

    Rach0636,

I took the bouquet examples from the catalog, and I chose the one with the orange flower and had them switch the yellow roses out for blue flowers. It came out perfect since our colors were royal blue, baby blue, and burnt orange. I also added a arrangement to the top of the huppah. Here is a few photos.

Also, I have 50 royal blue sashes that I am planning on selling, I also around 16 brand new blue maracas from Amol's (you can see them here http://www.amols.com/catalog/brite-blue-maracas) that I am planning on selling for a cheap price too. I had ordered 50 maracas and only needed 28.  If anyone's colors are royal blue, PM me.

  12. I got married at Dreams Riviera Cancun on Saturday 12/8/12 at 3:00pm on the North Beach. Our reception was on the pool terrace. It was the most perfect day! I will write a review soon with photos, but I wanted to let you future brides know that they are awesome! Everything was absolutely perfect! I was really worried at first since I had not spoke to my wedding coordinator Gabi, but once I was there, she was really on top of things. These ladies know what they are doing. You have nothing to worry about!!

The food was AMAZING! We had the Ultimate package and chose the sit down dinner with the beef and chicken. The shrimp appetizer was DELICIOUS, and all of our guests really loved the salmon appetizer as well. Our guests said the wedding food was the best food they had there, however all of the food at the resort is good!  All of our guests said this is one of the best all inclusive resorts they had ever been to!

Also, since we had 40 people, we skipped the cocktail hour and traded in the cost of food & beverage for the cocktail hour to accomodate our additional guests at the dinner reception. We also extended the reception for 1 hour. All of our guests went to the lobby bar for cocktails while we were getting photos. They did not seem to mind at all.

We also got the Mariachi trio with our package and used them for the ceremony. The music they played during the ceremony was really beautiful and added to the authenticity of a wedding in Mexico.

The DJ was awesome! We had Mauricio and we gave him a song list of songs we definitely wanted played. He also included some songs that got our parents and older folks out on the dance floor.

Although we had the Ultimate package, we did hire an outside photographer to shoot our wedding and TTD. We hired Gonzalo Nunez. He and his assistant Giuliana were AWESOME!! I canâ€t wait to see his photos. However with the Ultimate Package, you get 50 photos from Adventure photos. We used these photos to take pictures of us around the resort. They did an amazing job too! It was great, because now we have 3 sets of different pictures.

I will write more later, but I just wanted to say that you all are making a great decision by getting married at this resort!! Let me know if you have any ?'s. Reading this thread and messaging some of the people on here helped me immensely, if I can be of any help to you, please let me know. :-)

  13. How far in advance do you hear from the wedding planner? My wedding is a week from Saturday, and I have been emailing my wedding coordinator Gabby and have not heard a thing. I emailed her the Wedding planner form and still have not heard back. Getting a little nervous since I have had no reply. confused.gif We arrive at DRC on Tuesday, December 4th. Our wedding is on Dec 8th. Hopefully this will be enough time??

    Hi Lindsey,

If you don't mind me asking, how much was your videographer? Also, did the resort charge you extra to bring him onsite? Did you have to book a room for him for the night? Thanks :-)
