  1. Hi, I got married in Punta Cana 2 years ago. We stayed at the Majestic Elegance but actually got married at the Jellyfish. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Whereas the Majestic is an amazingly beautiful resort, the food was not that great. Again, that was two years ago so things could have changed. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the Dreams.
  2. Hi, We did international open bar for 2 hours but looking back, we should have just run a tab. We definitely didn't get our money's worth there. 3. Thanks! You really can't go wrong with the Jellyfish. No, we only reserved the bottom level. With open bar, food, fire dancers, dj/mc, dance floor, and decorations, we spent around 7k total. We had 40 guests.. We did receive an invoice about a month or so before the wedding.
  4. Hi Ladies, I recently married at the Jellyfish Restaurant (April 27, 2013) and wanted to let you know that, as past brides have said, Mayte is THE BOMB.COM. You have absolutely nothing to worry about. She is extremely busy and may be slow to respond, but please do not worry. She has EVERYTHING under control. She is so warm and will do almost anything to make sure that your day is memorable. The setting, of course, is beautiful and the food and drinks are also delish! I would certainly recommend having your ceremony here as opposed to at any of the resorts. Its much more private and there is only one wedding at the Jellyfish each day. I sent Mayte a few pictures that showed our color scheme and some bouquets and cakes that I liked, and she NAILED it! Again, you can't go wrong. I would also highly recommend Michael Steingard for photography. The pictures here are just snapshots from the day but you can check out his facebook page and website to see his work. We have seen about 30 of the 1,500 or so he took for the wedding and trash the dress session and they are phenomanal! We used Tropical Studio (Junior Cruz) for videography and they also did a teriffic job! Also, Pastor Rick York performed the most beautiful ceremony I've witnessed, and I'm not just saying that because it was my wedding. We used Mayte's DJ and MC and they were also AWESOME. There is no need to spend more for DJ Mannia unless you just want to. They were there prior to the ceremony and played music from our playlist as guests arrived and of course, they were there until the party ended around 11 (over 7 hours and we paid one flat fee, which was very reasonable). We stayed at the Majestic Elegance in the Elegance club prior to the wedding. It was a really nice resort for a wedding party. The physical plant was beautiful and the rooms were nicely appointed and spacious. We didn't care for the food but overally, it was a nice place and perfect for the pre-wedding festivities. Just know that anyone not staying at the resort has to pay a $50 - $100 fee to come on the property so you should strongly encourage your friends and family to stay at the ME if you want them to participate in wedding activities you have planned at the resort. We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Bavaro for our Honeymoon and we can't wait to go back. The property was gorgeous and the food was EXCELLENT. The rooms were much smaller than the suites at the ME but they were still really nice. We will defintely be going back to the Iberostar and plan to check out some of their other properties around the world. I hope this review is helpful and happy planning!!

  7. No prob. We actually got it all ironed out so April 27, 2013 it is!!! I'm waiting for the pre-invoice and would really like to go ahead and send the deposit. I think that would make me feel a lot more comfortable.
  8. I would caution against that assumption. I actually spoke to Mayte on the phone. I decided to call because a week and a half had gone by since I emailed her initially. She checked her book, said she was open, confirmed my date verbally and said that she would respond to my email confirming the date in writing. I got an email from her about 5 days later saying that she was waiting for another bride to let her know if she still wants the date!!! So, of course I emailed her back and reminded her of our conversation and have tried to call. This was just the day before yesterday and I'm still trying to get this straightened out. So, don't assume! But hopefully, if you have it in writing, you'll be ok.
