  1. Hello Everyone!! We are back and getting back into the grind of everything! The first week of being there was less than desirable, I had a string of bad luck. The first day I was in pain from the pressure in the airplane and couldnt hear well. Day two The nurse at the hotel that took the bloodwork for our legal marriage couldnt find my small canadian veins so 2nurses, 1 doctor later, they took my blood and left huge bruises on both my arms (which were still very evident despite make up to try to cover them on my wedding day). After that we went into town to get our teeth cleaned and whitened. My husbands teeth were fine, but my gums were cut in one spot and burned from the whitening stuff. I couldnt eat without pain and definitely couldnt brush without pain for days. The next day, as my mom and I were walking in town to our hair stylists, i tripped on these metal rods that are stickin up on the side walks all over san jose and cut my toes, which bled the entire 20min walk. Thursday my dh parents got in and we went to town (san lucas this time) to get some more sun tan lotion and a hat for his dad. the driver passes the walmart that we wanted to go to so we had to take another bus back and then when we went to leave we got on a bus who said they would take us to our resort and then after going 2 blocks said he couldnt and wouldnt give our money back. Back at the resort we talked with wedding co-ordinators who wouldnt allow our fake petals we brought for the aisle as they aren't "eco friendly" so we had to pay extra for real petals. Two nights before our wedding we took a sunset tour which the lady said would be "fun" for our 3 and 4yr old kids. It was a booze cruise boat with men competing for a bottle of tequila by strip lap dances, pole dancing, etc. and the music had swears in every song. Not impressed. Our rehearsal dinner, the waiters pretty much avoided us and we had terrible service and mediocre food. Our beach bonfire was ok, the choice was only beer or a limited selection of pop for drinks so that was unfortunate. The day of the wedding....went by soooo fast! My dh slept in my parents room with our kids and my dad, and my mom slept in our room with me the night before. The boys spent the day together and us girls met for breakfast at 10. I went back into the room to get ready and by 12 the hair/makeup lady was there. By the time she finished and I got my dress on the photographer showed up and there was only about 15min until the wedding! I had booked EMWeddings for 4hr photography and 1hr video. Well they exceeded expectations! He showed up with 2 additional photographers, so we had 3photo and 1 video for the entire 4 hours. They were sooooo much fun. A truly great experience! I will share pictures when we get them. Our wedding day was great but went by waaaay to fast haha. Wish I could stay in that day forever!
  2. Leaving for the airport in 30min for our Los Cabos wedding April 8!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKK!!! Sooooo excited! Good luck to all you ladies!!!
  3. Hello Brie! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! We are flying out of Calgary to Los Cabos in 10days! yay!! Choice for photographer is dependant on your budget. As a wedding planner told me, do not sacrifice your memories of your big day by getting an amatuer. We are going with emweddings and he has been great to work with but there are some others that seem good as well. I would suggest going to los cabos guide online and going through the photographers and looking at their work. Then email your favorites to find out some pricing. Thats what we did! Alec and T look like the best but very expensive! Decorations depends on what your theme is. There are some great florists there that can make table arrangements there for you or if you are looking to save, orientaltrading, or ebay or etsy.com are all great places to look for items and ideas! Keep in mind baggage allowances if you are bringing your own decorations. We are flying with Air Transat (transat holidays) and if you are over the baggage restrictions it is very expensive! If you have guests that can help by checking some luggage though you might be fine! my email is jdezzle@hotmail.com if you want to email me on any other questions
  4. I have looked at those places but unfortunately with those sites the shipping wouldnt get here in time as we only have two business days left this week, thats why I need to find a stores. I tried kijiji and used calgary sites as well, thinking that when we are in those cities before we fly out we could p/u and theres nothing.
  5. I am having a break down! We were planning on using starfish as decoration on the canopy and chairs for our wedding and have been patiently waiting for them to come from "The Nature Company" Nature's Wild Kingdom, I contacted paypal as I still hadnt received my package and there was no tracking number given, needless to say my money is being returned, and I have no starfish coming and we leave next week. I dont have a clue what to do now...does anyone know of anywhere I can buy 8-10in sugar starfish in Edmonton area?? or that would get delivered by this coming monday?? What a disaster!!!
  6. TTD is where you go into the ocean/lay on the beach with your dress on (essentially "trashing/wrecking" it) Most of the time it can be drycleaned however and look as good as new! There are many photographers that have displays of work they have done that they can show you. I honestly do not know what classifys as good spots for ttd, some people have had it done at lovers beach, some I dont know what beach they are on, somewhere secluded and that has clean sand (not full of algea or anything), and that has some rocks/formations, etc so that there is some depth to the pictures, also where the waves are not too insane so that you can go into the ocean. Have you chosen your photographer? What about make up artist? Have you decided on either of these yet?
  7. We will be getting there 6 days early, so hopefully everything will work out! Did you rent a car there, if not was it expensive getting around? Were there any vendors or anything like that on the beach? We have never been to Cabo at all so any little tips for a first timer would rock We are doing TTD, did you happen to scope out the beaches while u were there and did any look like nice spots for that? Thanks!! 23days until our wedding! eeeek!!!
  8. Awesome! was that your first time to Cabo? Did you stay at Melia Cabo Real? How was everything?? Nubia has been hard to reach and not very helpful so far...and we are leaving in 19 days...so this kinda worries me!
  9. We are having a hard time deciding how many songs we should have before the ceremony starts....the song I will be walking to is Your Love is Extravagant by Casting Crowns. We have an "all christian" selection: This Day - jadon Lavik God Gave Me You - Dave Barnes God Bless the Broken Road - RF I Have and Always Will - Dave Barnes/Amy Grant Show You Love - Jars of Clay Wedding Day - Casting Crowns Divine Romance - Phil Whickam Hold Me - Jamie Grace Getting Into You - Reliant K
  10. Hey Ladies! I am wondering (or stressing rather) about what to do for ceremony music. We have 7 songs picked out and were planning to have them edited to around 2min each so there would be 5 min of song for the guests to come in (only 6 guests) then 3min for grooms song (not sure if he should go first or the guests...thoughts?) and then I had planned to have 3min of song and then my entrance song which is 4min but could fade out when I get to the canopy. We have a 3year old and 4 year old who are going to (impatiently sitting and hopefully cooperating) at the wedding so my FI says the 15min of music leading up to the wedding is way too long....so I am curious as to what others are doing! Should we just make it down to 3 songs, one for him one for me and one for guests?? I love ALL 7 songs so this would be soooooo hard :'( HELP! Thanks in advanced! We leave in 27days yaaaaaaaay!!!
  11. Hi! I am getting married April 8, 2012 at Melia Cabo Real. If I had more time and a more extensive budget I definitely would have gone with an external wedding planner! The resort wedding planners are not very timely I have noticed and its tough to do it on your own when you have never been to cabo before like us! We are just getting married on the beach at Melia, very small wedding (12ppl). Using starfish for decor to save costs and bringing our own ipod/docking station to save even more! Not going with any resort wedding packages, just told them what we need/want and they are charging us indiviual pricing on things we want (ie wedding cake, canopy, chairs, etc). Photographer we are using EMWeddings (Enrique Morales) He has been very good to work with so far! Melia doesnt charge a external wedding vendor fee so I was free to choose whomever I wanted and not stuck with the inhouse photographer We aren't having a reception after the wedding as we are doing ttd right after the wedding while hair and make up still look great, instead we are having a nice formal dinner the night before followed by a beach bonfire (only 17pp). Does anyone know of affordable limo transport from airport to hotel?? Thats one thing I havent been able to figure out on my own yet!
  12. I looked online at their prices and this is their online pricing : Hair and Make-up Package for bride A full up-do or down-do (medium to long hair) and a full make-up application $210.00 A full up-do or down-do (extra long hair/pass shoulders over 10") and a full make-up application $230.00 A hair and make-up trial* $155.00 Note: All those prices are US dollars and subjected to 11% taxes and 18% gratuities. Credit cards payments (Visa or MasterCard) are available. Prices are subjected to change without previous notice. So for me it would be 210+155 + 29% (tax and gratuity)= $470.85 If I went into the salon then it would be 180+85 as you said, plus 11%tax and 18%gratuity again = 341.85 We are staying at Melia Cabo Real near San Jose Del Cabo so its a 20+ min each way cab ride to the salon that I would have to pay for if I went to the salon. So that is why I am trying to find someone a little cheaper as my budget is around 240 for hair and makeup.
  13. I havent been to Mexico before so cant help you out with that. Los Cabos is a "safer" part of Mexico so you may have more guests decide to come...it didnt make a difference for us, a lot of people are not liking all the canadian issues in the news lately! Due to lack of response by their wedding co-ordinator we decided to switch to Melia Cabo Real. She is better to work with and more timely and professional than the Hola Grand Faro, however if we had a bigger wedding party and more specific needs (and a higher budget) I would suggest that if you go with Cabo to go with an external wedding co-ordinator. I emailed almost every planner and there were two that were amazing and called me a few times rather than email. It was very nice to see their friendly, proffessional manor! Illeana from romanticweddings and claudia from asusnetwedding are both amazing! Ann Marie Williams with weddingsinthebahamas is absolutely amazing if you are considering other destinations...she is in Nassau Bahamas. Very pretty there! Regardless I am sure you will have a beautiful wedding! Congrats and good luck! Congrats on your engagement Chelseylynn! You will have an amazing wedding at Villa del Arco! I hear the sunsets are amazing on the Pacific side! Good Luck!
  14. Well we decided to check out other wedding planners due to larisas lack of communication and the a co-ordinator at another hotel has been very timely in her emails and great to work with thus far, the beach is swimmable and all around it seems like a better choice for us! Good luck with your wedding I am sure it will be absolutely amazing! 8 weeks and we will be in los cabos and 6 days later our wedding at Melia!
