  1. We also booked with Transat but decided originally to upgrade to the Palapa. We are paying an extra 11,000 pesos for the Palapa and also paying for everyones food. We were given the option of the Beach/Palapa Menu, which has 3 entrees to choose from - Surf & Turf (800 pesos per person), Steak & Panela Cheese or Salmon in clam sauce (both 500 pesos per person), or I just found out we could also choose their BBQ menu which is like a buffet that has chicken, pasta, fish and steak as entrees. Since we are not served the meal, its 350 pesos per person. Everything is costing us about an extra $2800 CAD on top of our Transat package. Because this was not your original choice or your problem that they over booked, I would definitely not be paying. I don't remember where the Health bar was, is it by the Spa?
  2. Does anyone know which methods of payment they accept for the wedding? I'm not interested in bringing that much cash on me, and I think you can only take out a certain amount per day at the banking machine they have. We are leaving in 39 days & trying to finish up last minute details/concerns! Thanks!
  3. Thanks for the links Nicole, unfortunately I cannot read those yet though. I haven't posted enough yet. I think I have those now though, thanks anyways! sgreen99 - As far as I have seen/read it should be for your whole stay. Paying that much $$ for the presidential package and only getting it for the night is ridiculous. I was thinking about switching from my Transat package to the Presidential just for the suite but they said 'last minute' (2 months before my wedding) they cannot guarantee the room is still available. Its saving me a $1000 not switching so ultimately their loss. Wow 9 days you must be so excited!! Nicole - The lounge furniture is $2500 pesos to rent. I am bringing everything for my decorations (centerpieces, chair sashes, table runners etc) and as far as I know the 'decoration/set up' should be included in your package that you bought. Extra guest is $240 pesos Paper lanterns are $100 pesos each, the acrylic lighted balls are $200 pesos each. I think the chair decoration is free as long as you aren't picking tiffany chairs, which I am, and its $5 CAD per chair. Thats all I really know, hope it helps!
  4. Thanks for sending that info sgreen99! I unfortunately can't look at the attachments Nicole, I haven't posted enough comments yet! I also think I have those now, but thanks a bunch anyways!
  5. Hi sgreen99! Do you mind e-mailing me those too? Yeni sent me everything but these it seems...also, when you were mentioning you could pay the $350 pesos for the 'standard' in the Palapa, I was told I had to go with the Beach/Palapa Menu she sent me. The prices are either $500 pesos for Salmon/Steak or $800 for surf and turf. I would much prefer the $350 but had no idea this was an option? [email protected] Thanks!

  8. I had the same idea, fake flowers, water and $2 vases from Dollarama but bringing all that glass freaked me out. I would have needed a back up plan if even a few of them broke, and the amount of space they take up = extra luggage costs. It might be a little late if you have bought the vases from Dollarama but I contacted my resort coordinator with a picture of the 3 different sized cylinder vases I want, and they said it would be $9 Canadian for all 3 and I will only be putting a group of 3 on each table. I will be bringing down my floating candles and fake flowers for them to include. So I figure the $9 is worth the stress of not bringing glass in my suitcase. Worth a try at your resorts too!
  9. Wow, that is ridiculous. I'm going to assume that price would be about the same for all specialty flowers. Thanks! Quote: Originally Posted by MJKH Sorry, I can't help with this one. 10. Hello! I read that brides bouquet is $800 pesos, and the bridesmaids are $500 pesos, but I was wondering if anyone knew how much in addition to those prices they charged for the 'specialty' flowers. I wanted Calla Lilies, and they are in the 'other/specialty' category. Thanks!
  11. @ChocoTaco7568 Look at www.ninashoes.com. I got my lime green (same shade as all the ones you posted) on here. I LOVE them. So comfy. I also googled promo codes and found a few for 25% off. With shipping, and because I am in Canada I had to pay duties when I received them, they came to about $100-$120. I have never spent that much on shoes, but these so worth it! You can also search them by heel height. I included some pics of the ones they have right now.
  12. Hello! I am also from Winnipeg, originally wanted Barcelo Palace but couldn't have my guests pay the price they were asking. My FI and I had previously been to the Grand Sirenis on vacation a few years ago and we LOVED it. We have since decided to go back for our wedding March 2013, and the price we received for our guests is amazing. We have family all across Canada and friends in Minneapolis, the price range is from $1360-$1415, taxes in. Single room rate is only $100 more! Highly suggest it for anyone who is unsure!
  13. Hello! I unfortunately cannot tan for the life of me, and I use bronzer everyday...I was wondering if anyone knew how the make-up is done at the Grand Sirenis? Would they do that for me if requested (not sure how well they understand English in the spa), or should I have done my 'pre-coat' before getting the make up? Sorry I would have posted in the hair & make up forum but it looks as though there hasn't been much action in it since 2011.
  14. No we haven't been to the Barcelo, but have heard only great things about it. We did go to the Grand Sirenis a couple years back which is a gorgeous resort. We were going back and forth between the two for a while.
  15. Hi There! I'm new, planning a wedding at the Barcelo in the Mayan February 2013. Just trying to catch up on all 200 pages of this thread, when I noticed a question about spray tans. So, I am the whitest of white. I have tried EVERYTHING to get/be tanned. After trying about 20 different products (not exaggerating)...my favourite is Sally Hansen - 'Flawless Legs', comes in a can, you can get up to 6 different shades at Wal-Mart, Superstore or any drug store. Pretty expensive (at least for me!), up to $18 a pop. I usually buy a pack of three on e-bay for half the price. It lasts about 2-3 showers, does not make you orange and has a shimmery look to it. It does come off slightly on clothes, but washes right out. Also very messy, I stand on paper towels. I know it sounds like a lot of work, and it is...but its worth it. I also use it on my whole body, not just legs. I have recently gone for a spray tan in a stand up bed at Tan FX (Winnipeg) and its fantastic, as long as you know how to stand. The girl will demonstrate but do it once before your wedding so you see you have to bend your knees so you don't get half moons under your butt cheeks, and raise your arms high so you get sprayed under your 'chest area'! Hehe I bought a groupon recently, two spray tans for $30, regularly $35 each spray. I have seen this offered twice now. Hope that helps!
