Hello I am getting married in St. Thomas April 2014! I can't wait I am in between Secret Harbor resort reception, beach party at bongolo bay or renting a tent, or even chartering a catamaran. Do you have any reccomendations? I want something fun with good food and lots of dancing! Have any of you had a catamaran wedding with dancing I would be afraid my guests would be sick sick.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks!

We got married in Secret Harbor since the restaurant for the reception was literally walks away so the transportation wasn't an issue. The food at Sunset Grille btw was DIVINE! Everyone loved the food and so did we :) They have smaller private and more intimate space and a bigger space as well if you want to look into their space :) I've been to a catamaran just for sight seeing in Hawaii and I thought it was a fun experience. If you really would love to have that, just suggest for folks to bring in Dramamine or the sea sickness patch for the ones with really weak stomachs :0

    Thanks!

Lol. I've been meaning to write a review or a blog on the whole wedding process, but i just got lazy haha. Are you from San Diego btw? Just wondering from your screenname :) If so, I'm from SD myself!

As for our wedding, we came from Carnival Liberty cruise so we had a limited amount of time on the island. I would've loved to have a sunset wedding, but it turned out really well :) We used Janelle of Island Bliss Wedding who picked my husband and I up first. We booked the transportation through her as well so it all worked out easier. As for advise, make sure you and your partner have your passport or IDs with you so you can get your paperworks-marriage license going. My husband didn't have his passport with him when she picked us up so we had to hurry back to the court house before heading back to the ship. That was an adventure on it's own hahah. I really didn't have any expectations as to how everything was going to be. I just gave all the details I nedeede to Janelle and to everyone else in the party so they have an idea of the itinerary and what's going to go down.  Let me know if you have more specific questions. I'd be happy to answer them for you!

Congrats! Sorry, I just saw this. We actually got married in Sercet Harbor and it was fantastic! We had a lunch reception (came in via cruise that's why) at Sunset Grille and their food was fantastic! To give you a glimpse of our wedding, check our video preview :) vimeo_logo.png

Hey everyone, I had been eyeballing luggage tag save-the-dates on Etsy for a while, but I just couldn't get myself to spend the $2 for each one. Considering i would have needed 70, that would've been around $140!! With lots of patience, I came up with my own template, and the results were better than I imagined. The best part about it, all of the supplies (cardstock, rope, magnets, paper slicer, envelopes) cost around $70.

    700

    700

    Steps to DIY:

1.) Download template and input your info

    2.) Print the image

3.) Scan that image  (there may be a way around this step, but I couldnt figure out how to copy an paste the entire image in order to print multiple tags per page)

4.) Open image in new document, re-size and copy/paste so that you can print 4 per page

5.) Print the image onto cardstock

6.) Decorate as you like!  (i used rope for a rustic feel,i also glued a tiny magnet onto the back so people can glue it to the fridge)

** Feel free to contact me with any questions, good luck!!

I made my appointment before getting on the ship. I called Carnival, who put me through to the spa management company, who put me through to three other people. I eventually got to the person who managed my ship's spa and made the appointment. Then I checked in with them the second I got on the boat to confirm appointments. Make them send you email confirmations and bring those emails! :-)

Btw, is this the number you called to set up the appointment?

I guess that at this point I am planning on getting my hair done by a stylist at the spa on board. I plan on booking my appointments when I get on. One for the formal night, where I can do a trial run, and then the morning of, as early as they will allow.

I am also a morning bride, and my aunt who works for Carnival said that there shouldn't be too much of an issue having a girl come in earlier than opening to accomadate a bride.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks for this info!

I had such a great experience.  I definately found upgrading to a suite useful.  The extra space that it gives you really makes a difference when getting ready on your wedding day.  It has a nice mirrored dressed area.

There is no makeup artist on the ship so go to MAC or somewhere like it, and learn to apply your own makeup or bring someone who can do it for you.  I was MORE than happy with my hair stylist.  I can't remember HIS name but I think it was the only male in the salon.

A great OOT bag or as we did favor idea is monogrammed beach towels in your wedding color.  Our guests used them out and around the pools so even if they weren't at their chair you could see where people were set up.  (Carnival's towels and a navy color).

That's all I can think of....

    Hello!

I know this is old and hopefully you get to read this, but I was wondering, did you book your hair appoitment before you boarded the ship or after?

I would definitley try the Hampton because they have a free breakfast, free wifi, and usually hamptons are always good customer service and are very predictable in quality.  Days inn are usually low-grade.    Best Westerns can be questionable (I dont think they are monitored like Hamptons are) and Hiltons are usually expensive.  Overall Hamptons are the go-to.  I am a loyal Hampton traveler. You also have to pay for breakfast at Hilton.  Thats one expense taken off of your guests, who already have plenty of expenses I am sure.

    Awesome, thank you!!

Im not sure how fancy of a hotel your looking for, but we have blocked off rooms at The Laquinta Inn. Rates are about $100 a night and we will only be arriving one day before our April cruise. The perks are what sold me. They offer shuttle service to and from the  maimi airport and also offer a FREE shuttle to the port on cruise day. Breakfast is included as well as internet. They have pretty good reviews on trip advisor. Again only needed one night and something as close to the port as possible so this hotel was perfect for me and my guests.  Also a good note to know : you can block off rooms to lock in a good rate now and there is no obligation on your part. Any rooms not booked by your guest in the required amount of time ( i think they give you 30 days before check in date) are just released back to the hotel. So again you lock in a rate now and can cancel at anytime if you find something else. Also I believe if you need to make arrangements to be picked up from the port they will for about small cost per person. They bring you back to the hotel and you can use the free airport shuttle to get back to the airport. Good luck in your planning and I hope this helps.

That's great to know! Thank you for the info! We're getting close and need to get this checked off. ;D
