  1. Hello Ladies!!! Its been almost 2 months since I got married at the Gran Bahia Principe & it was amazing. I don't have the time or energy right now to write up a review but I did want to show you that I have an album on my page with some of the wedding pics. It was absolutely beautiful and everything went great. The wedding planners were helpful & so was everyone else. I hired my photographer based out of Negril and he was AMAZING. Looking at the pics you will for sure see that =) I promise I will write something up sometime soon, the only advice I can give right now is DO NOT STRESS!!! You are planning a destination wedding for a reason, you will get there and plan everything at that time. It really is so simple and stress free, as long as you treat it that way. TTYL!!

  2. From experience, if you plan to do eyelash extensions DEF TRY THEM OUT BEFORE you get them done for the wedding. I got them done (for the first time ever) on Tuesday and left for my destination wedding on Friday. I HATED them but they were already glued on and I didnt have time to get them removed that day. I thought they looked to fake for me and they felt soooo weird. I just couldnt get used to them and really wish I would have tested it out before that. I ended up giving them a chance Wednesday but had decided on Thursday (the night before the wedding) to take them off. Thank goodness I bought eyelash remover solution the night I got them done just in case, but even with the solution it was SO painful to get them off! OMG my poor eyes were in pain and swollen, but thankfully they were fine for our wedding the next day. I am not saying dont get them done because I do feel like if you get them done right then can look beautiful. BUT what I can not stress enough is to DEF DEF DEF try them out a few months before the wedding. Hope that helps ladies!! =)

  3. I think thats great advice JayKay .. thanks so much!

I have a feeling they will tell me I need to def have the minimum amount of ppl. So I guess now I need to figure out what to do about our dinner/reception. I dont mind doing the free dinner, but I really wanted to have everything (dinner and dance) at the same place so we could do everything the way we wanted to. Looks like I have some figuring out to do. worried2.gif

They will also need more waiters ect if you tell them you have more people then you will, like 20 more.  In my opinion you are best not to lie to them about the number of people, but explain you want to exclusively rent out the snack bar and suggest that you will pay more to do so.  Thats just my opinion though.

  4. Thanks Erin! Gotta question ... when you got there tho, and met with them .. how did they go about the details of hyw many people you had? I was worried about not having the minimum amount of people they said is needed for the Piscis, but I dont see how they are really going to know this anyway .. what are your thoughts about it?

  5. Okay ladies .. just let me know what you think ... So for our dinner and reception we are planning on renting out the Piscis restaurant which is exactly what we want to do. I confirmed this with Donnalee a million times just to make sure that its in my file that that is what we want to do. As of right now including us there is 25 people coming .. and still a possibility of more before the wedding in June BUT i doubt enough people to meet there 45 ppl minimum to rent out the restaurant. We are doing the free package, so after 16 ppl its $20 per person. Now with the restaurant if were paying the $1700 to rent it out I don't see why it matters how many ppl we have there, but since they say it does I'm wondering how their even gonna know how many ppl are actually there anyway. We really want to rent it out, so if its a money issue then we dont mind paying the extra $20 per person so say we have 45 ppl.

But, I'm just nervous that when we get there and we dont have the 45 people and they dont care that we would still pay as if we did, that at that point I'm gonna have an even bigger issue as far as not having a place all set for dancing and things like that. What should I do?! Take the chance of going there to still see if we can do the Piscis restaurant, or just be honest with them now and set up a different plan for dinner and reception? Did I mention we still realllllllly want the Piscis restaurant tho? lol Ugh! I'm just ready to get to Jamaica, be married, and have all this planning over with! haha =)

  9. Hello ladies,

Just wanted to know where you all got the guys linen (or similar to linen) suits from??? Ive heard studio suits so far, any other options??

Also ... for any of the brides heading to GBP sometime soon I was wondering if I could get any of you to take some pics of the area at the outside Piscis restaurant. I have pictures of how its set up where the tables are, but not of the place as a whole. If any of you do .. thanks soooooo much! =)

p.s. thanks so much for the salon info!

  10. Hey ladies .. Well I was about to send the deposit until I thought the same thing. I actually just got ripped off by a seller in china (for something not wedding related) and lost $65 and there's nothing I can do about it! Ugh! This also happened the same day my car got broken into .. Sooooo needless to say I was having a horrible day and thought to myself .. I'm NOT sending money to anyone without proper documents. He told me the same thing about how the invoice would be redone after the deposit .. But I told him I wanted it now .. So I got something a little more legit .. So then I sent over my 40%. By no means do I think he is going to rip me off .. I just think it's because he's "up and coming" and not as established compared to other business owners. BUT it's always better to be safe then sorry :)

  11. FYI .. If anyone is looking for a photographer, we just booked ours. His name is Roan Robinson. He is out of Negril (but does travel throughout Jamaica) and is an "up and coming" photographer so his prices are pretty decent compared to the others. His website is roanphotography.com  So far he has been great through email and when requesting information on prices and everything else. I have high hopes for our day =)

  12. Hi ladies, so I was thinking the same thing. My fi and I are getting married in Jamaica in June 2012 .. But I was thinking to save the legal trouble we should legally get married before we go. My only issue is that I'm afraid it won't feel the same on our wedding day in June .. Like it's taking the importance out of getting married .. Ahhh so torn because I don't know how I will feel

  13. Hi ladies! I am new to the site and I am also getting married at the GBP, and now I am SOOOOO scared! All the good things sound great .. but the bad things sound horrible! Like roaches (OMG), and a rude wedding coordinator (Donnalee). It took me long enough to actually pick a resort. Being in charge of picking a place for all your family and friends to spend their vacation and their money on is a harsh reality to have on your shoulders. undecided.gif I mean its booked for us, and everyone knows this is where its going to be, so I guess now its just working with what we have. But I am def nervous now, not only about the resort but about everything.

Cupcake & Mrs. Johnson, you guys are amazing! The time you have taken to write everything you have for everyone is great, thank you so much! Also both of you looked GORGEOUS on your day, and the wedding itself looked amazing. And all of your pre-wedding planning with bags and decorations and everything else is such a big help. After seeing all of your posts from start to finish, I am nervous! I hope I can pull it off too!
