  1. Hi Ladies, I just wanted to chime in about the vendor fees. My understanding is that if the vendor lives in the Cancun/Playa and surrounding area then you have to pay a vendor fee even if you get them a hotel room. We are bringing our own photo/videographers from Canada. I just told them we have friends that are traveling with us who will do it and they confirmed we do not have to pay the fee. I am using Marvin for my flowers. They are about 1/2 the price of the resorts for the bouquets (the ones I chose anyways). He's been very attentive and I can't complain about the wonderful customer service we have received so far. I am confident he will do fine with my order since it is pretty simple.
  2. KernsWR - who is your wedding coordinator? Mine is Elvy Arroyo and she confirmed to me last week that any set up of decorations I bring from home they will do for us. Any flowers from an outside vendor would have to be arranged by us.
  3. Who is your wedding coordinator? I have Elvy and I asked her the same question last week. She said centre pieces we will have to set up on our own, but chair bows, table runners and napkins the coordinator will have set up for us.
  4. Hi Ladies! We are getting married on August 29th, 2011. We are bringing our own photo/videographers from home. They are looking for some additional work while in Mexico and are available for your wedding, engagement, TTD, etc photos/video on Aug 25, 26, 27 and 28. If you're interested in sharing their service PM me. Happy wedding planning!! xoxox
  5. We're getting married there on August 29, 2011 (less then 2 months away!) If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me, or post here.
  6. Hi All, I need some aqua and orange decor. I am looking for chair saches, centre pieces, real touch flowers, OOT bag goodies, and any other orange or aqua themed things you may have. Please PM me, I will pay for shipping. TIA!
  7. Does anyone have Angie as their coordinator? I haven't heard from her for a really long time and I have posted a few questions on the basecamp website.
  8. Bride2B22 - for the folowers - how are you avoiding the outside vendor fee? Will you be sending a friend or family member to pick up the flowers for you and bing them to the resort?
  9. Congrats Cassie! I'm so glad to hear you had such a lovely experience. I have a question for ladies that have already had their wedding. For those of you that had the legal and symbolic ceremonies...can you please let me know exactly how the cereony went. What did the justice of peace or minister say, what was done? and so forth. Our wedding is on Aug 29th and the ceremony and reception will be on the beach. I don't have a back up plan in case of rain. I think I will suck it up and pay the damage fee if necessary. Rain that time of year lasts only a couple of minutes. If by chance it's thunder storming all day I think I will probably just cry (
  10. Ladies who have had a civil and symbolic ceremony - did you have to pay $500 each for a minister and justice of peace?
  11. Question about wedding packages: I'm finding their packages have a lot of things I don't care for. FH and I are traveling with my step daughter, so we don't need rose petals in our room, an upgrade, champagne and fruit, or breakfast in bed the next morning. Have any of you been able to substitute some of the items in the package? Or was it an option to have a completely a la carte wedding and only pick the services you need? This leads to my next question - in this case do you need to pay for the wedding coordinator, and decorations for the ceremony? Thanks
  12. Unfortunaty that thread did not help me. It seems as though those guests were allowed on the property for about an hour - 2 hours during the ceremony only. My wedding will be about 8 hrs long, I just want to make sure my guests with the day passes are ot escorted off the property at 11pm if the wedding is still going on at that time.
  13. I don't understand. Are you ladies saying they do not need day passes if they are not guests at the hotel? I don't mind paying, I just do ot want anyone to be escorted out half way through the wedding.
  14. Hi Ladies, For those of you that had to purchase day passes for your wedding guests - what time did their pass expire? Were they escorted out at a certain time? I'd hate to have a guest be forced to leave if we are still celebrating our wedding. TIA
  15. The last two negative experiences are unfortunate. I do have to comment though that room upgrades and late check out are NOT gauranteed. It clearly says "subject to availibility" (or something like that) on all documents I have read. Although an upgrade or early check out would be nice, it's not to be expected, especially if it's during a busy time of year. Ssntos-were your girls not guests at the Real? I can imagine that you may run into some conflicts with them not being Real guests. I think we have to remember that being guests in another country, and not having the opportunity to see/taste/set things up ourselv, etces wedding planning does become limited. I've chosen a DW b/c I want everything to be taken care of for me. It's very possibe not everything I expect will be accommodated to a tee - but remember that appens here at home all the time, so it's even more likely it will happen over seas where you are unable to oversee the whole process. I think all email communication should be printed out. This can help avoid a lot of "he said - she said" type complaints. Happy planning ladies!!!
  16. Can you direct me to your review. I'm having trouble finding the link. Thanks
  17. Any more feedback on this resort? I am also interested for the same reason as the OP - the Catholic Chapel
  18. I have been in April before. The weather was perfect! Hot, sunny, clear skies.
  19. I'm considering this for us too. Did you do the BBQ at a home or at a public park?
