  1. Hello all. I originally posted as an EDR bride... but I'm not 100% on that. We're getting married in the RM in April 2013. Yes, I know that's crazy far away, but please hear me out. We will be going to RM May 16-22, this year. We are currently booked for the Bride Dress Rehearsal @ EDR from the 19th-22nd. As of right now, we don't have accommodations booked for the first half of our trip. We really want to try and stay at a resort that is a viable option for either the wedding or the honeymoon. Also, we plan on doing site visits at multiple other options, not just the two we'll be staying at. This being said... I don't which resorts are/are not viable options. I've spoken w/many local TA and all I'm really getting is a bunch of half-answers. Some say VIM... other say no way and direct me to Secrets... another to Royal PDC... etc... etc. I figured that asking you all for your opinions/expertise/advice would be the most beneficial. So. Here's our general info: If I could have it my way, we'd be going to Le Blanc. I don't want to be in Cancun, but it is Le Blanc, exceptions are allowed. Unfortunately, there's no way his family would be able to afford this option. However, I'm also not going to compromise too much in the other direction. We're giving people a 2-year head's up, if in the end they can't make it, then they can't make it. It is still our wedding after all. We want to enjoy every luxe minute of it. There will be approximately 40 guests, including us. For the wedding, I would prefer AI I would also prefer adults-only I want the typical beach wedding, so ASP isn't an option (and I was hoping to not make my guests go that far South) I want to 'feel' like I'm having my wedding in Mexico, so the uber-modern SSS is also not an option I'm not thrilled about a PDC setting unless we're on the outskirts, either end is fine. I just don't want to be in town I would prefer to not have a billion weddings happening on my wedding day, so no wedding factories like MP The single most important detail to me is food. I refuse to settle for mediocrity when it comes to this. To give some of you a general idea, I've stayed at ERC and the food was okay. I was better than many AI, but it was still just okay. I want to be wowed by the cuisine. I really hope that you all can give me some guidance. I'm drowning in pamphlets and printouts and websites and I still feel like I'm just spinning my wheels. All the pretty pictures and self-proclaimed accolades in the world can't actually tell me what I really need to know. Thank you all so much in advance for your help with this. I'm in dire need of it.
  2. Okay, so I know that I've been MIA on here... but nursing school is not as conducive to wedding planning as one would like. I have been waffling between EDR and Moon Palace for the past 6 weeks; however, speaking w/my travel agent made confident in my original choice of EDR. That being said, my FI and I are going to be traveling to Mexico this May to celebrate my graduation and to do a site visit or two. I have never gone on vacation w/a mission other than relaxation and eating too much so... HELP! What questions do I need to ask? What stuff do I need to see/try? I have been attempting to poke around on here taking advice from threads here and there but w/this being my last semester I find that I am so overwhelmed already that I just get lost trying to strategize my plan of attack for May.
  3. No apologies necessary at all!! You're all just trying to help me and I'm just being a poop about it. I have looked @ their online only dresses and was hesitant... Kudos to you for being so brave! That was a big risk that really paid off for you! Not to mention the price tags are lower. Well done indeed!
  4. An A-line will probably be what I end up w/if this idea doen't pan out. I've tried on quite a few dresses and it seems as though the ball gown waists hit closer to my natural wasitline. Perhaps it is only because of the specific dresses that I've pulled, or perhaps it's just my imaginiation. At this point who knows!
  5. I have been to David's twice. I've tried on that gown both times actually. I am yet to be impressed by the quality of their fabrics. The satins are fine, but the organza and chiffon seem cheap, scratchy and a tad on the stiff side. This is especially disappointing since they have a petite line, which is helpful for my 5'2" height. Ho hum.
  6. Hello all. I have been looking for a feminine, romantic, flowy wedding dress. There are LOTS to choose from, but not so much if you're an hourglass shape. Empire makes me look pregnant, Fit-and-Flare over-accentuates my curves (as does trumpet). I need something with substantial support on the top, which is found in almost every singe ball gown. So. I love the look of Maggie Sottero Chardonnay and am wondering if I just removed a few layers of the tulle, would it turn into what I've been looking for? Because the top layer is organza, I am not so concerned w/it laying funny. Any guesses as to how (in)correct this theory may be?
  7. Hello all! I am new to the site, as well as the world of destination wedding planning in general. I had originally wanted a RM wedding, but the FH wanted a huge grandiose wedding in Minnesota. I had the whole thing planned, including chapel, hotel, dress... the whole works. Two weeks ago he called me and more or less said that he had finally come to his senses and we're heading South of the border! I think that I am decided on EDR for the wedding. I have been wading my way through some forum postings and such trying to make sure that it is everything I want it to be. I just wanted to introduce myself and thank you all in advance for the endless information and advice I will sponging off you in the future Evangeline
