  1. It is a question many travelers ask themselves before booking a trip — should I use a travel agent? And when it comes to booking your destination wedding or honeymoon, the answer to that question is an absolute YES. The agents at Wright Travel Agency not only organize and arrange all travel plans for you and your guests, their agents are also the person in your corner who you can turn to if you run into any issues during the travel process or if you have problems at your destination location. A good travel agent is there from beginning to end looking out for your best interest to ensure that your travel experience is as stress-free as possible. Here are several reasons why you should use Wright Travel Agency (WTA) — the official agency of the BestDestinationWedding.com — to book your destination wedding group: Wright Travel Agency does not charge a service fee, so it is completely free to use one of their agents to book your group. Wright Travel’s agents have decades of experience working with destination wedding couples, small/large groups and honeymooners -- many of these agents are also destination brides themselves, so they are familiar with the special ebbs and flows of a destination celebration and can help you every step of the way. Their agents are well-versed in the intricacies of booking a small or large wedding group and familiar with resorts throughout Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Costa Rica and other Caribbean destinations, as well as other locations throughout the world. If a WTA agent’s services comes at absolutely no extra cost to you, why wouldn’t you take advantage of one of their agents’ assistance and expertise in coordinating your trip and helping your guests with their travel plans? Aside from booking travel plans, their agents can offer in-depth knowledge and insight about your destination location, the resorts you’re interested in and any fun activities or excursions your group may want to participate in. WTA agents can provide a wealth of knowledge to any traveler — and if their services are completely free to use — what is there to lose? It’s a win-win for you in more ways than one. Wright Travel agents have access to special promotions, discounts and perks for the wedding couple and the group as a whole. Resorts and hotels (along with travel suppliers) are often offering special booking discounts and promotions that can save a couple thousands of dollars. And because Wright Travel is a top producing agency with many of the destination wedding resort brands, there are exclusive bonuses when it comes to working with a WTA agent. This is in addition to perks that allow couples and their guests to receive complimentary room upgrades and extra amenities. But with all these special promotions, there are strict rules and deadlines the couple must adhere to in order to qualify for these perks and there is no better person to explain these terms than an agent who is familiar and knowledgeable about your wedding resort. Based on the number of rooms/nights/guests that book into the group, cashback amounts can range anywhere from a few $100's to several $1000's. Truth be told, you can’t expect a hotels/resort to provide you with personal reminders on important deadlines and numbers you must meet in order to qualify for a promotion or discount, but when you’re using a Wright Travel agent, he/she can give you that personalized service you need to stay on top of things. Wright Travel agents can give you valuable insight when it comes to finding the best resort/property that will fit your needs, budget and preferences. When you find yourselves early in the planing process, completely confused about what resort will best fit your needs, Wright Travel agents are there to help. Their agents are extremely well-traveled and visit several resorts throughout all destination locations at least a few times a year. A good travel advisor is a huge resource that can provide you with valuable insight and information on resort options at your destination location. Most of the time, WTA agents have either stayed or done a site inspection at the resorts you’re considering or had past couples get married at the property you choose — this is expertise and knowledge that you simply can’t put a price on. Wright Travel agents can help secure a room block so that your resort does not run out of rooms and all your guests can book at a consistent rate. One of the biggest mistakes couples make is not securing a room block at their destination hotel/resort. Sure it may seem easier just to have all your guests book on their own, when they’re ready. But when you go this route, you also risk having some guests find out the property is sold out or that the rooms that are left are double, sometimes triple, the rate that other guests have booked. And then you'll end up with family and friends not being able to attend your celebration. The other downfall to not setting aside a proper room block is that you won’t reap the benefits of a group booking — that means, your resort will see you and your guests as a bunch of individual bookings rather than a large group. So you won’t qualify for group perks, amenities, promotions or discounts. This could mean missing out on thousands of dollars in cash back benefits and perks. The resort also won’t prioritize putting your group’s rooms close together, because again, you are not recognized as a group booking. When it comes to group blocks, there are deadlines for releasing rooms that go unused to avoid any penalties. This is another key moment when your travel agents expertise is vital. So word to the wise, get a room block. It will save you a lot of money, headaches and stress and you will reap all the benefits of having a room block. Wright Travel agents will have established relationships with the resort you choose and their wedding department, which will benefit you throughout the planning process. If there’s a consistent complaint that destination wedding couples have, it’s that resort wedding department’s don’t reply to their emails and calls quick enough. Understandably, these wedding departments are dealing with hundreds of brides each year and being able to respond quickly to each and every questions isn’t always feasible. But having a travel agent who knows your resort’s wedding coordinator/team will do a lot to ease your worries. A knowledgeable agent can also answer some questions you might have about the wedding process at your resort. A good working relationship between your agent and the wedding department can be really valuable especially when it comes down to crunch time! Wright Travel agents will handle all your group’s travel details and questions, so you don’t have to. Imagine having to answer 20 questions from Aunt Betty about the best flight to take to your destination, followed by Uncle Mike’s wanting to know what the difference is between the different room categories and three of your guests suddenly going MIA once final payments are due — and this is all between your wedding coordinator sending you questions about the kind of bouquet you want, and by the way, you still need to create a seating chart and your dress suddenly is too big so you need to find a seamstress to fix your dress 10 days before your wedding. And one more thing, on the day that one of your bridesmaids is supposed to leave, she unexpectedly misses her flight so now she’s asking for your help in booking a new flight. Does all of this sound stressful? If it does, it’s because it is. Your job as the bride should be solely focused on being the bride, NOT a glorified travel agent or travel advisor. There are so many questions and unexpected hiccups that can happen when a group is traveling, let your travel agent handle those intricate details. This is stress you don’t need, especially when you can turn to a travel agent who will take care of everything without it costing you a dime. Wright Travel agents can offer travel insurance at a reasonable price. When booking through Wright Travel Agency, all travelers have the opportunity to purchase travel insurance, which allows you to cancel your trip for any reason prior to the originally scheduled flight departure time and receive a full refund (minus the cost of the policy). The policy offered also includes reimbursement for trip interruption, medical expenses incurred on the trip, and lost or delayed baggage. It’s a security blanket offered to travelers that offers great all-around protection for little investment. Wright Travel agents can give you suggestions on good vendors to use at your destination location. Gathering a solid crew of reliable vendors who can make your wedding vision come to life can be quite the challenge. So it’s always helpful when you can turn to your travel agent as a resource for referrals and suggestions. With WTA having worked with thousands of wedding couples, their agents will likely have a list of vendors they can recommend to you — referrals are great to have when it comes to planners, photographers, videographers, DJs, hair/makeup stylist and florists. WTA agents are happy to share their recommendations with clients. Wright Travel agents can help book any other excursions or outings that you or your guests may want to do on their trip. In addition to sharing their knowledge and suggestions of things to do/see at your destination, a WTA agent can also pre-book excursions so you don’t have to hassle with organizing these outings during your stay. If you want to do a special activity or excursion off-site with your guests, your agent can help give you ideas and options to consider. Having your WTA agent assist you means you’ll have more time to enjoy your family and friends. Wright Travel agents work for you and look out for your best interest from beginning to end. Your WTA agent works as a liaison between you and the travel supplier and resort — so your agent is always looking out for your best interest and can handle problems that you or your guests may experience prior to, during or after the trip. WTA agents are in your corner, so don't hesitate to use their expertise, knowledge and experience to make the travel planning process one less thing you have to stress over. When it comes down to it, the question really is — Why wouldn’t you use a Wright Travel agent? A travel agent is the travel expert who can save you an incredible amount of time and money when it comes to planning your destination wedding or honeymoon. They are there to guide you through the process and find the best property to fit for your needs, don’t be afraid to use their knowledge and resources as much as you can. 2. The most recent post I found for Azul Fives brides is here -- although it hasn't been updated much: You can also find a Cancun-Riviera Maya FB group hosted by this forum here, that will have various info you might find helpful! https://www.facebook.com/groups/CancunRMBrides/ Since you are considering Azul Fives for your wedding, I also encourage you to check out this promotion because it could save you a good amount of money on your wedding -- the only requirement is that you use Wright Travel, which is the official travel agency of the BDW forum! But their services are free, so it's a total bonus and will be a huge help as you plan your wedding celebration Hope that helps!!!
  3. This is such a shame, I am really so sorry this is happening to you Well, I would exhaust all sites you can write reviews on -- Wedding Wire, Facebook, Trip Advisor, etc. If you paid by credit card, can you contest the charge since he failed to deliver the product? Also, maybe contact the venue where you got married -- they may have a working relationship with him and letting them know may force his hand since he wants to keep a good relationship with them. It's really so awful when vendors do this to couples, especially when it comes to a day that means so much to them. Sending good thoughts your way that you will somehow get your photos!!!

  5. Finding an all-inclusive resort that offers a good balance of family-friendly fun and an equally relaxing space centered for an adults-only crowd can be quite difficult. But Now Onyx Punta Cana Resort & Spa passes the test with flying colors especially when it comes to the property’s adults-only section, which offers guests an intimate yet spacious area that soothes and relaxes all the senses. The first thing one notices about this resort is that everything is expertly laid out in that nothing ever feels too far away, including the family-friendly area and the adults-only area. This makes it convenient for those who want to enjoy the best of both worlds — those who want to partake in the festive spirit of the family-friendly area, but also unwind in the serenity of the adults section. The adults-only area is framed by ground level rooms each equipped with wonderful private Bali beds and their own plunge pools. If you want to immerse yourself in relaxing vibes — this is the spot for you. Just steps away from the adults-only rooms is the quiet peace of the adults only pool, swim-up bar and the unique island lounge spaces throughout the massive pool area. Large pool mat floats can also be found poolside and are free to use. What I really loved about the pool area is that there was always ample seating and lounge chairs around the pool. If there’s anything that kills a relaxing vibe, it’s having to scramble to get a lounge chair. But that was never a problem during our visit and to top it off, the service around the pool was always top-notch. The servers are attentive and the drinks are delicious. For those who want to splurge a little, you can rent one of the island lounge spaces for the day and it comes with two extremely comfortable Bali beds, fresh towels delivered to your island throughout the day, drink/food service and two bottles of champagne. The island spaces also come with their own private stairs into the pool, so it’s easy to dip into the pool if you find yourself needing to cool off a little. I felt so at incredibly relaxed whenever we spent time at this pool and if you find yourself there long enough, the sunset view facing the ocean is exactly what tropical dreams are made of — the ocean breeze will calm your soul and the view is absolutely spectacular. Now Onyx offers the perfect mix of family-friendly appeal and adults-only serenity. It’s the perfect resort for wedding couples who want to accommodate guests with children, but also satisfy guests who want a relaxing adults-only getaway. And to be quite honest, this resort excels on so many levels in terms of food, service, accommodations and amenities, I'd even consider this property over a complete adults-only resort. Yes, it's that good. Wright Travel Agency is the official travel agency of the Best Destination Wedding Forum. To find out more details about booking your vacation, honeymoon or getaway at Now Onyx Punta Cana, or any other resort/location, contact Wright Travel Agency at: [email protected] or you can contact them HERE!
  6. I'm so sorry to hear this Did you have a signed contract with him? What did he or the contract say the turn around time be? If it is way past the deadline, you have made several documented attempts to contact him, and he has broken your contract and failed to produce what has been promised, you could resort to writing an online review of your experience -- often times, that motivates vendors who've dropped the ball to rectify the situation because it affects other potential clients.
  7. It's really tough when you put your heart and soul into planning your destination wedding and people aren't supportive for whatever reason. I think maybe letting people know how much it will cost for 2 weeks may be an issue -- a lot of people can't take that much time off and I"m guessing because it's such an extended period of time, the price may seem high to her. A good way of presenting a destination wedding celebration is to give rates based on 4 days, 3 nights -- which is typically what resorts will require for a group booking. This way, people will view it more of an extended weekend celebration and the time off as well as the costs becomes much more feasible to people. More likely, you'll have guests who will opt to stay longer and at that point you just let them know how much the extra cost will be. I suggest you talk to your best friend straight up about this and let her know how important it is for her to be there and find out what is holding her back. Communication is key!!
  8. A question engaged couples planning their destination wedding often find themselves asking is, “since we’re having a destination wedding, should we also plan a honeymoon?” And the answer is really quite simple and depends on a few factors. Do you have the time to take a honeymoon? Planning a honeymoon immediately after your destination wedding is a great way to unwind and decompress after several months of wedding planning and all the hustle and bustle of spending the past few days with your friends and family who attended the festivities. If you have the time to spare another few days or even a week to vacation on your own post-wedding, you should definitely plan a honeymoon. Do you have it in your budget? With a destination wedding can come significant expense. But if you can manage to squeeze in a honeymoon, it will be well worth the costs. While you may have the time of your life with all your wedding guests, it’s nice to be able to spend at least a few days with your new spouse to truly enjoy your wedded bliss. Staying at the same resort after all the guests leave, can be a cost and time efficient way to honeymoon. And if you’ve got room in your budget, getting an upgraded room for your extended stay is a nice way to change the pace and setting. Other couples may choose to move to entirely different resort in the area and that’s a way to make it feel like an entirely different experience that sets itself apart from your destination wedding. Maybe consider spending a few days at that resort that you thought would be too costly for your guests, or perhaps it’s a property that you’ve always wanted to visit. For couples who opt for a family-friendly resort to accommodate the children in their guest list, honeymooning at an adults-only resort is a great way to change things up. Where do you want to honeymoon? If your preference is to honeymoon in the same region as your destination wedding or somewhere that is a short flight away, then it will be more cost efficient to honeymoon immediately after the wedding because you’ll save on overall travel costs since you’re already in the area. MOST IMPORTANT: Is taking a honeymoon after your destination wedding important to you? For some people, their destination celebration fulfills the need to honeymoon and extending their trip just isn’t important. And that’s totally OK. For others, a honeymoon is a must and in that case — go for it. Another thing to keep in mind is that the honeymoon doesn’t have to take place right after the wedding, many couples opt to honeymoon weeks or months after the Big Day. It really is up to you to decide. There really is no right or wrong answer on whether destination couples should take a honeymoon — it really depends on your situation, needs and preference. The bottom line is, do what makes you happy as a couple and be it on honeymoon or at home — the most important thing is to simply find a way to enjoy the start of your marriage, together. 9. Many tourists flock to the Cancun-Riviera Maya each year seeking the warm and clear turquoise waters the region is known for. But often times, vacationers find themselves disappointed when they happen to be staying at a resort with less than desirable beach conditions — a rough tide, less than crystal clear waters and red flag warnings spread throughout the beach dissuading people from swimming in the ocean because of dangerous conditions. If you have your hopes set on staying at a resort that will give you the crystal clear Cancun beaches you see in postcards, then Hyatt Ziva Cancun is the place to be. This 5-star all-inclusive resorts sits on the peninsula along the popular Cancun hotel zone, giving resort goers the convenience of being able to walk into town and partake in the lively nightlife, but most importantly an idyllic beach with incredibly calm waters that are perfect for swimming and basking under the warm Caribbean sun. Hyatt’s turquoise waters are truly a sight to see, one that greets guests the minute you walk into the resort’s lobby. Protected by a cove from the tip of the peninsula that boasts the resort’s well known lighthouse, this beach is perfect for kayaking, snorkeling, swimming or simply sitting in the ocean with a drink in hand. And if you’re willing to swim about 40 yards out, you’ll find a sandbar in the middle of the ocean that allows you to stand in waist deep water. If you’re want to enjoy the water but also take a relaxed approached, you can snag one of the hammocks set out close to shore. The shoreline is also lined with lounge chairs and beach umbrellas if you’d rather relax and sunbathe or doze off to the sound of the ocean. Resort-goers can also enjoy Habaneros — an oceanfront restaurant right on the sand that serves delicious drinks and bites for lunch and dinner so you don’t have to go far for a quick meal or drink. On the other side of the resort, vacationers can enjoy a larger beach although the water isn’t as calm as the resort’s more private beach. Either way, when you come to this resort rest assure, this property has arguably the best beach in the Cancun area. These agents also specialize in destination weddings. You can contact them HERE! Best of luck!!! 😊
  16. I would honestly do some research on photo sessions -- weddings and engagements -- done at your location. Google for photos and if those images appeal to you and inspire you, then go for it! Your photographer will also be a great resource in giving you an opinion on whether it's ideal for photos. If your fiancee's father had a house near the lake a while back, then it's sure to hold sentimental value to your sweetheart and that alone might make it a great spot. But getting insight from your photographer would be a good next step -- he or she can give you some good suggestions on best spots for photos, lighting, etc.
  17. Having your travel agent speak with the resort is probably your best bet as good agents will often have close working relationships with the weddings department and can often work out an agreement with the resort as long as your photographer is staying at the resort or at the very least get the fee reduced. If that doesn't work, it may just be a cost that you have to eat unfortunately. Best of luck!

  19. The minute you step onto a luxury resort, you're typically greeted with a delicious welcome drink. But when you step foot onto the beautiful Grand Velas Los Cabos, you immediately know this resort offers a different level of luxury. Upon arrival, you are greeted with a refreshing cool towel and an ice-cold drink to sip on while you go through the registration process which is personable, private and seamless. As you check in, you'll likely also notice the check-in area/lobby is quite grand and impressive as it's set atop the middle of the resort where you'll enjoy a lovely breeze. The lobby area is filled with incredible pieces of art and culture and you can also enjoy a complete view of the beautiful property set along the Sea of Cortez. The grounds here are magnificent and impeccably cared for. 20. I have to preface this by saying, I am NOT a waterpark person. I am more of a lounge by the quiet pool or lay on the beach all day in the sun type of person. Waterparks seem like an invitation for complete chaos and children loudly running around -- and I'm a mother of two, so trust me, it's not that I don't like being around kids. Water parks just aren't my thing. So imagine my surprise when I spent a full afternoon at the water park at The Grand at Moon Palace in Cancun, Mexico, and absolutely loved the experience so much I spent the next day there too. For those familiar with The Grand, it's a huge luxury resort with a variety of areas to keep its guests busy. The main buildings are filled with several eateries, an arcade filled with every game imaginable, a 24-hour cafe, shops, a theater, bowling alley and a world class spa. If you're the outdoorsy type, there are pools located throughout the resort, including an adults-only pool club and lounge and of course the blissful sights and sounds of the shore and the Caribbean Sea. So there is no lack of things to do here, but the resort's water park is truly a hub of fun for all ages. At the water park, you can float in a lazy river, splash in a wave pool, and choose from a selection of different thrill-seeking slides. Guests of The Grand at Moon Palace Cancun have unlimited access to all these areas. The Lazy River The serene waters that encircle the Playroom give resort-goers a relaxing way to move with the river's flow using the inflatable ring floats at the water park. The Wave Pool With the state-of-the-art wave pool, you can experience oceanic thrills for swimmers big and small. The Water Slide With a collection of pool slides, guest of all ages are sure to splash up thrills and safe fun. The Splash Pad This playground offers a safe and fun way for little swimmers to enjoy water play. The Playroom This indoor playzone in the middle of the water park is filled with amazing activities such as: Neon Mini Golf, a 3-floor Labyrinth, Arcade, Bumper Cars, Laser Maze, Time Freak, Interactive Sports, Sky Trail, Mirror Maze, and much more. There's also a counter where you can grab a quick snack or drinks if you need a quick break from all the fun. The upper floor of the Playroom is open to children from 4 to 7 years old. Kids under 4 years are welcome under the supervision of a responsible adult guardian at all times. The ground floor is open to children from 8 to 17 years old. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult guardian at all times. The Playroom is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Food Trucks and Bar To ensure that those at the water park have everything they need and more, the park is also equipped with food carts and a full-service bar. Food carts offering freshly made hot dogs, corn dogs, tacos and shawarmas are available for guests throughout the day - and this isn't amusement park food, the food is made to order and it's delicious! There are also carts with freshly made ice cream, paletas and shaved ice to cool you off and satisfy your sweet tooth. All dining options are part of your all-inclusive experience at the resort, so you don't pay a thing. But the agents of Wright Travel Agency -- the official agency of the Best Destination Wedding Forum -- are experts on the most popular destination regions and they are happy to share their insight when it comes to choosing the best destination area for your dream wedding celebration. 23. Destination bachelor and bachelorette parties have become more popular over the past decade, and when it comes to an ideal party destination, Cabo San Lucas is at the very top of the list. But with so many resort and condo/home rental options, pinpointing the perfect resort for the festive getaway can be quite the task. However, there is one resort that is truly made for fun group trips and that is Breathless Cabo San Lucas. Ideally Located Located at the juncture of Marina Cabo San Lucas and Playa Medano — the town’s main beach — guests at the 169-room resort are spoiled by both beautiful ocean views and marina life. Every room has a balcony overlooking the marina, which gives way to watching the boats quietly sail in and out of the harbor throughout the day, spotting rays or seals playfully poke their head out of the water and epic sunsets dipping beyond the marina horizon. You can also choose from different room categories from the standard Allure suites to the upgraded Xhale Club Master Three Bedroom suites with preferred club access. The resort is on the smaller end -- the perfect size for bachelor/bachelorette party or a fun trip with friends. It’s intimate feel gives you a perfectly mixed ambiance of modern chic and a fun lively setting. Breathless guests can easily walk down onto the main beach and partake in the fun at the beach’s party-like atmosphere at the famed Mango Deck or The Office. A Pool to Suit Your Mood When it comes to pools, you have your choice of two options. The serenity of the quiet pool, which overlooks the marina and is next to the Bites restaurant and Wink the main lobby bar so you can enjoy food and drinks as you lounge poolside. You’re also close to the 24-hour Nook cafe, which offers quick snacks, baked goods, delicious coffee and other drinks. The other pool, which is known as the party pool, offers a vastly different experience. Here, you can lounge poolside and enjoy picturesque views of the main beach and all its hustle and bustle just down the shore. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch a fun-filled foam party at this pool complete with a champagne spray. Loungers receive poolside service throughout the day, including delicious lunch offerings (nachos, wings, quesadillas) served in bento boxes. The Spoon International Buffet is on the same level along with Foam the poolside bar. But what really sets this pool’s vibe is the house DJ, who spins a mix of today’s hits and popular music from the past few decades starting at about noon each day. It’s not necessarily a wild and raucous party atmosphere, but it definitely serves up chic pool party vibes with a lot of fun in between — perfect for a bachelor/bachelorette celebration. Relaxing Spa Treatments for the Entire Group As you relax at either pool, staff from the resort’s Relax Spa by Pevonia will come around and share their menu of daily specials. The spa located on the floor just under the party pool offers a selection of luxurious and innovative spa and salon treatments. The resort also has party packages catered for bachelorette parties that include spa treatments so your entire group can partake in some true relaxation in between the fun in the sun. Incredible Dining Choices If you and your friends enjoy a good meal, you’ll find no shortage of delicious food at this resort. Most of the resort’s restaurants are located on the first floor facing Playa Medano — with ample outdoor seating at all the eateries, you can wine and dine while enjoying the ocean view. The restaurants here offer a plethora of dining options, including an international buffet, tapas and small bites, seafood, Mexican, Mediterranean and Italian food. Unmatched Nightlife When it comes to nightlife, you truly cannot pick a better resort than Breathless Cabo San Lucas. If you choose to stay on-site the VIP rooftop lounge a great spot to gather and toast the end of the day with 360-degree views of the marina and beach. And when you’re ready to enjoy the festive nightlife that Cabo is known for, it’s just a less than 5-minute cab ride to the nightclub zone or a short 10 to 15-minute walk thru the marina where you’ll find shops, bars, restaurants and eventually end up in the heart of all the nightlife action. Here you’ll find the music pulsating throughout the streets from clubs and bars and several small eateries mixed in between. If you and your friends want to live it up and party — this is the place to be at night. From top to bottom, Breathless Cabo San Lucas is the perfect resort for a fun group trip, like a bachelor or bachelorette getaway.
