  1. Hey Girl! I sent you the priest information via a private message. Good luck!!
  2. Thank you everyone!! I wanted to have shared the pictures earlier but we printed mini photobooks for our guests and wanted to hand them out before pictures went all over the net. BTW if you're thinking of getting photobooks done, check out http://www.kodakgallery.ca, not only they are a lot cheaper and offer you more options online than at their kiosk locations (including adding tons mores pages) but if you chose to get your order delivered to a bestbuy or futureshop its extremely fast! I got 30 little books with 25 pages each and one huge hard cover photobook with 80 pages for us and everything was printed and delivered in 4 days! It's No joke, check them out! So Im going to try to answer as many questions as possible, we had the free package but then upgraded to the middle package (I forget the name) as we didnt think we were going to get a photographer (which we did hire HDC at the end) - the chair sash in orange was included. The fabric on the gazebo was $150 US as Yanna suggested and we agreed it would be better than nothing on the gazebo for a religious ceremony. JuneDreamsBride: The priest is not the one that DLR offers, when i started planning my wedding they did not offer religious services so Tiara gave me the number of the priest she knew so i could contact him directly. Father Luis is from San Pedro de Macoris (about 1hr away) and he only speaks Spanish, luckily my little cousing (the one in blue during the wedding) speaks fluent Spanish and English so he ended up translating the entire ceremony for Paul and the English guests. The rest of the guests and I are from Brazil, so although we speak Portuguese, latin american Spanish sounds the same for us. Please note that no one should EVER put a charge for a religious ceremony. The church is very clear on 'you donate how much you want', so my family donated the money directly to Father Luis to help his parish. I am not saying the hotel is trying to scam the church, but just make sure they money you're paying is going to the parish so in a way you are helping the community and not just the resort KrystalKelley: We didn't get music for the reception, it was just our luck that they players were walking by as we started the dinner so Yanna waved for them to come play a few songs for us. Quite honestly, you don't need music if you're not getting a dance floor. You can hear the nice music from the restaurants and lounge area around ssg. We went to the disco after and danced the night away! I haven't got the pics yet as the only friend who took them lives up North here in Canada. The resort spa did the hair and make up, Maria did an amazing job and so fast! I showed her a few pictures and she actually explained to me why she was making a few modifications to the style I chose (what looks better with my hair type and face shape, etc). I brought my make up and asked her to put it on for me. She was awesome!! We all stayed in building 4, which is not preferred. Although it seems that it will be loud, it is not. All the shows by the pool are done by 10:00 PM. It is the best building to be as everything is very close to it! They upgraded us to the partial ocean view. They did offer to upgrade to preferred but I chose to be close to my parents and bridesmaids, which was a good idea. A few friends upgraded to preferred and said it was nice but not necessary. Wi-fi for the week is 50 US but only for one device, so if you have a wi-fi hub, ensure that is the first device to be connected. the AP is by the middle of the building, so depending where you are, upload speed is very slow. We did the cocktail at the pier, I put the pictures together with the reception pictures so it would look like one big party (hehehe). The guests enjoyed it while we ran to the beach with Francisco from HDC to catch the little sun that was left. At first we thought we wanted round tables, but since we didnt have a huge group (24 guests) Yanna suggested to use this different setup, and we are very glad we went for it!! It did look awesome, as I said I bought the table runners from ebay and the decor from walmart and chinatown - btw they are all fake flowers except my bouquet the main centerpiece. We only rented the deck of the SSG, it was included in the package. On the day we arrived I went to reception and asked when I was going to meet with the coordinator as I was getting married in two days, so they booked the time for me on the spot. We meet with Yanna the day before our wedding, she called the spa from her desk and booked the hair trial for the same day. We felt sooooooo relaxed when we finished our meeting with Yanna that it felt the someone took all weight off of our shoulders and could then start enjoying our wedding week! Sabrinaa: We chose the strawberry cake, it was delicious! I should have asked them to bring the rest to my room so I could eat it all!! Let me know if anyone has any more questions, I would love to help Most important of all, relax and ENJOY your time at DLR. La Romana Is a beautiful and relaxing place and will surprise your guests who have been to Punta Cana and expect tons of resorts and rude tourists. For me La Romana is a lot more romantic for a wedding then Punta cana I'll put the vacation pictures up on the same gallery so it may clarify some questions you may have about the resort itself . I'll keep you girls posted. Besos para todas!!!
  3. Alright girls, it has been over 1 month from our amazing wedding at DLR and we are still wishing we were there, here are all our wedding pictures, we had our reception at the SSG, the setup was gorgeous (i brough the decorations and Yanna put everything together just like the pictures I showed her) and the food was the best food in the resort....the wedding cake was also super yummie! Link: https://picasaweb.google.com/Paul.and.Dressa/ There's a nice picture of the reception in the HDC album and lots of more little details on the 'joey and parents camera' folder... I hope you have some good ideas from my pictures, I bought all the table runners from ebay and flowers & decor from walmart and chinatown everything cost less than 70 bucks. Many people said it was not possible but someone from the resort recommended the priest to me, I reached to him on my own and also translated all the church papers myself. So don't let anything get on the way of your dreamy wedding, with a little effort anything is possible (well I guess speaking spanish helps too!) Besos, Dressa
  4. Good Luck Jenn! Everything will turn out perfect! DLR really knows what they are doing..take lots of pics for us!!
  5. Hey Girls, Here are our pics from Tropical Pictures: https://picasaweb.google.com/Paul.and.Dressa/TropicalPicturesFacebook?authkey=Gv1sRgCNuRnbnW-4zDJg We wanted to keep them a secret and make a photo books for all the guests but these ones leaked in FB..lol..we still got the ones from HDC which no one has seen so I thought I would share these ones with you. Regards,
  6. We just got back from our magical wedding! It was more than perfect! Yanna is absolutely awesome! I don't think anyone here at home would be able to do such an amazing job with just one meeting the day before the wedding!! So ladies, take it easy on her!! She is a busy woman and knows exactly how to make your day stress free...no need to hire a wedding coordinator off site...all they do is put in contact with Yanna...which you can it do yourself for free! Both HDC and Tropical Pictures were amazing photographers!! We were surprised with absolutely amazing wedding pictures from both!! Make sure you negotiate your photo packages before hand not to be surprised by the price of extra pictures...even then try to negotiate the price as Tropical actually offered us a pretty sweet deal and tons of options if we wanted more pics than it was included in our package The service and food at Dreams la Romana were impeccable! PS: I tried to post a mini review but this site is 'holding' my post because I have not posted enough before (which totally sucks btw!! all I wanted was to share more details)
  7. Hola Gilrs! We just returned from our AMAZING wedding! Everything is great...we were even able to bring a local catholic priest to perform the ceremony at the garden gazebo!!...with a little more effort everything is possible (being able to speak Spanish helps though hehe). I will post pictures and a detailed review as soon as we get some time. Yanna is ABSOLUTELY awesome!! You don't have anything to worry about as she knows exactly what she is doing..she even surprised us with little details we never even thought of to ensure our wedding was more than perfect! Everything from the setting up the decorations exactly as we wanted (we put a table together at home with all the decor and favors and took a picture of what we had in mind..she setup everything exactly like the picture we showed her). I don't think anyone here at home would be able to do such an awesome job! The resort is also great! All the guests had an awesome time (even the ones who went waaaay overboard with the sun and drinks had a great time), the staff is extremely dedicated to perfection and the food quality was great! Just remember to enjoy yourself and don't stress about little details beforehand as everything will be taken care of by them. Dreams La Romana definitely knows what they are doing! HDC and Tropical Pictures were much better than we expected! Both extremely professional and we ended up with stunning pictures. and THANK YOU all the ladies that post their experiences and suggestions here at bestdesinationwedding for helping me out with ideas, suggestions and tips! I could not have prepared anything for our wedding if it wasn't for all of you!!! ! Salud!!
  8. Thanks KCB2011 and DreamsBride2011 This info certainly helps a lot!!! I'll keep you posted on how it unfolds!! Happy planning!!
  9. Does anyone know what is the deal with the renovated (blue decor) deluxe garden view rooms versus the (brown) older decorated rooms? Are they different at all? I think I read that the older decor (brown) has a bath tub in the bathroom and the newer (blue) only have a shower...does anyone know? I was also wondering which blocks already had the blue renovated rooms... I would love if anyone that has already been there could share their room pictures...i tried looking up online but I am a little confused right now... Thanks ladies!!! 33 more days to go!! Cant wait!
  10. Very Exciting Amanda!! I can't believe your wedding is so close!! I am already freaking out and still got 60+ days to go...but from what I heard and read you've got it all ready! Can't wait for the review (s) D.

  12. Great Review Rikki!! You looked truly beautiful! Thanks for including the link to your picasa gallery..i love how genuine the pictures came out! Love them!! I also like your idea for the first dance..I may have to copy you on that too! Congratulations Rikki!!
  13. Thank you so much for the prompt responses girls!! You are all truly amazing!
  14. Hey Dana, You said you got your flowers from a different vendor than the resort offers as they had a better price. Were there any extra charges by the resort because you didnt use their florist? One of our guests happens to be a great photographer and has offered to take our wedding pictures..but I read that some other resorts try to charge people for bringing their own photographer. Would anyone know if DLR charges extra if we don't use their suggested photographer? Even if they are one of our guests who will be staying at DLR? Thanks again Ladies!! Dressa
  15. Hey Dana, Were there any extra charges by the resort because you didnt use the florist the resort offers? Thanks! Dressa
  16. Congratulations Rikki!! Very beautiful pictures!! Absolutely love your dress!!! Can't wait for your full review
  17. Good luck to the ladies getting married in the following weeks! Im sure everything will fine and you will have an amazing wedding! RE: Dinner Reception I was just wondering if anyone has recently gotten the dinner receptions prices from DLR. I inquired about the dinner for up to 60 on the SSG at one set rate as it was previously suggested on this forum, but Tiara responded advising that they no longer offering the exclusivity of the restaurants and that if we want a reception dinner you have to pay per person (US$30 for the silver menu and US$35 for the gold menu). This is not such a big issue for us since the number of guests we have it would have ended up costing the same but I wanted to let the other brides know in case they were hoping to get the private reception of up to 60 ppl deal.
  18. Thank you so much for your responses girls! This is why I love this forum!! After giving it more thought I have to agree with you...people are paying so much to come to our wedding and we should at least have a dinner for them, I have guests coming from Brazil that are paying more than USD $2000 per person.. so I emailed Tiara to get the prices for the SSG as she had only sent me the prices for the buffet which ends up being something like $30 per person plus alchohol! I am really hoping I get a similar price as you have...and it turns out that our friend who is a photographer wants to do our wedding pictures, so that gives us more room to fit in a reception! YAY!! Pink_Petals, It's amazing you were able to get so much for you budget! I really need to work on my negotiation skills!! We were hoping to keep everything under $3000 (including the fees for the legal papers and the wedding rings) but its worth the sacrifice to thank our guests for spending so much just to attend our wedding!! XOXO Dressa
  19. Hey Girls! Hope you all (Canadian brides) had a great thanksgiving! I got some prices for the private reception (still waiting for more info) but I am just not willing to pay for food in all inclusive resort...it seems so wrong!....our original idea was just to reserve some tables at one of the A La Carte restaurants but since we already have 30 ppl booked we're over the limit for that...I'm now contemplating just having an hors d'oeuvres since it costs less per person. The ideal scenario would be we have our ceremony at 5:00pm and go take some pictures while the guests go grab something to eat..then around 7:00 pm or so have the hors d'oeuvres and cut the cake and do the speech at that time..after that everyone would head to the disco or lounge for drinks. Did anyone try to go for the hors d'oeuvres only? My parents think the guests will expect at least a dinner...would the hors d'oeuvres only be too bad? What do you girls think? Your honesty is greatly appreciated... Thanks again!! Dressa
  20. Thanks Dcairns! I see your wedding is on April 11 when are you going to be there till? We arrive on Apr 17..maybe we get to see each other there
  21. Oh WOW PinkPetals! I just read review! Love your dj idea and your pictures are amazing! You looked gorgeous!! Love the view from the sea of the Gazebo!!! Congrats girl!!! Your husband is a very lucky man!
  22. Does anyone have the prices for the private receptions only? I am wondering if its cheaper to just upgrade to one of wedding the packages that include the dinner but we are already at 30 guests... Mr Williams, you mentioned that the SSG costs $1260 for up to 60 ppl...is that for the area reservation and food only? or does it include something else like drinks and music? Would you know? Anyway girls, thanks for posting so much information!! You are all my wedding planners!! XOXO Andressa
  23. Hey Girls, This is Andressa (atossato) something went funky with my account and I could not post anything... Love the pic of the dresses!!!!
