  1. Has anyone been recently married at GPJ? I'm wondering if you have received your marriage license yet, and how long it took. For anyone with an upcoming wedding there - do not worry. It will be fabulous!! Thanks ladies :-)
  2. Are there any past brides out there who have used the Renovo Spa at the GPJ? I'm getting ready to make my hair appointment for my wedding day, but I'm debating on whether I should have the Spa do my makeup or do it myself. Does anyone have any thoughts/advice? Thanks, Sarah
  3. I'm getting married in May 2011, and my FI and I are planning to start TTC right after the wedding. We have been talking about having a baby for the last few months, and we're very excited to become parents. I met with my OB/GYN in December for my yearly check-up, and she told me to start taking a pre-natal vitamin at least 3 months before I planned to stop taking the BC pill. I've taken about a months worth of pre-natals already, and I'm planning to go off BC right after the wedding. I'm hoping that we won't have any complications, because I've been on the pill since I was 15 (I'm now 25). My doctor did say that it is a common misconception that it takes everyone several months after going off the pill to have your cycle regulate. She said that she has had many patients that went off of BC one month and were pregnant the next. That's why we're waiting until after the wedding for me to stop taking BC. Best of luck to everyone!!
  4. Hello, I'm getting married on May 6, 2011 in Jamaica, and I'm looking for 40 fuschia and 40 orange organza sashes. Can anyone help? Thanks, Sarah
  5. I haven't heard anything about the new packages yet, but if I do I'll be sure to let you know. I was working with a WC before and had started doing some of the planning (menu, etc) but my new WC said there isn't really anything that I can do at this point. We have the Blue Lagoon reserved for a private reception from 5:30 to 9:30, and my fiance and I just started working on the music this weekend, which is a pretty big task. We're using an IPOD and doing all of the music ourselves. I guess I'm just going to wait until it gets a little closer before I start hounding the WC about the details. I've heard that they don't really focus on your wedding until right before anyways, so I'm trying not to stress myself out!
  6. I scanned and emailed the notarized copies, it was much cheaper than trying to mail them. My wedding is less than 3 months away and I haven't done anything with Natalie yet, besides sending our birth certificates and IDs. I asked her if there was anything that we could do ahead of time, and she said not at the moment. If you find out something that I should be doing right now, please let me know lol!
  7. Hi ladies, just wanted to give you an update on the birth certificate ordeal. Because the "originals" that I had were not the actual birth certificates that we were given at birth, they were in fact, copies. So I had a notary sign and stamp them, and she just wrote "True Copy" at the top of each. I sent them to Natalie last week, and it sounds like she is accepting them. If anything changes, I'll be sure to update you all. Hope this helps!
  8. I'm thinking though that even if I make a copy, get it notarized again, scan and email it to her, it will look exactly the same as it does now. It doesn't matter what I scan, she will never be able to see the raised seal, right? I'm waiting on a response from her. I'll let you know what ends up happening. Thanks for the input!!
  9. Ok ladies, I am trying to scan and send both mine and my fiance's birth certificates to the wedding coordinator (Natalie) so that she can apply for our marriage license. I scanned our original birth certificates, which are signed and certified by the State Registrar of Vital Records. Natalie is telling me that the "copies" of the birth certificates need to be notarized. But I thought that was what the signature and seal of the State Registrar of Vital Records was for. How else am I supposed to get "scanned copies" notarized?? Has anyone else run into this issue? If so, what did you send to satisfy the requirements? Thanks ladies!
  10. HELP! I need to find a bandeau bathing suit, because my wedding dress is one-shoulder and has an open back. And since I'll be in Jamaica 3 days before my wedding, I don't want to get those nasty tan lines that we all try to avoid. The problem is that I'm a 34D, and I've never tried a bandeau bathing suit. I'm afraid that I will fall right out of it. Has anyone come across any bandeaus that have enough support for larger-chested girls? Any help is greatly appreciated!! Sarah
  11. Congratulations misspaige!! Hope everything works out beautifully for you guys!
  12. Thanks ladies, I finally received an email back from Natalie yesterday. They said everything is still reserved and confirmed!
  13. So I emailed GPJ back on December 20th to make sure that my wedding was still confirmed for May 6, 2011 (because I'm not sure if either of the wedding coordinators that I was working with previously are still with GPJ). It's been two weeks and I haven't received any kind of response. I just emailed them again, asking to please let me know that everything is still scheduled. Is anyone else having the same problem? Should I be freaking out? My wedding is only 4 months away!! Thanks, Sarah
  14. Do you know if Sherice is still there? I was working with both Nina and Sherice for the arrangements for our May 6, 2011 wedding. Thanks! Sarah
  15. @ nemmerz: We are getting married at the Grand Palladium on May 6, 2011. We wanted to have our ceremony at 4 PM, but they told us that time slot was already booked, so we are getting married at 2 PM. It is my understanding that they do four weddings per day: 10 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM, and 4 PM.
  16. Thanks ladies! @ kasabre28, I'm emailing you now! Sarah
  17. Does anyone have any pictures of what the Poseidon location looks like for the private reception? We are getting married at GPJ next May, and we need to decide if we want to have our reception at the Poseidon or at the Blue Lagoon. But that's kind of hard to do without knowing what they look like! Thanks ladies :-)
  18. We are getting married at the Grand Palladium Jamaica resort on May 6, 2011. We have not yet seen the resort, and due to our tight budget we couldn't afford to visit Jamaica before the wedding. I searched online for a long time reading reviews and looking at pictures of the various resorts in Jamaica. The hardest part in making the decision was trying to not believe everything that I read. I tried to remember that people are more likely to post bad review comments than good ones, and I tried to just pick the resort that I thought would best suit our guests and the wedding that we were envisioning. The Grand Palladium looks beautiful, so I hope that everything works out. Hope this helps! Good luck planning!
  19. Oh, and the Grand Palladium was the cheapest of the three resorts, which also helped in our decision making :-)
  20. Well, we first ruled out the Riu in Ocho Rios because we have some of our elderly grandparents who are making the trip to Jamaica for the wedding, and we didn't want to have to make them endure an hour long bus ride after flying all morning to get from the airport to Ocho Rios. At that point, we had narrowed it down to the Iberostar and the Grand Palladium, both of which were relatively close to the airport. I had tried to contact the wedding coordinator at the Iberostar for several days and I never received any kind of response. I ended up hearing back from the WC at the Grant Palladium first, and so we decided to go ahead with that resort. Also, the Grant Palladium is fairly new, since it was built in 2008. I had looked at a bunch of picture of each resort, and just thought that the GP was more along the lines of what we were looking for for our wedding. Â Hope this helps!
  21. I absolutely love these bridesmaids dresses. Does anyone know where they came from? I saw that someone mentioned that they thought they were from David's Bridal, but does anyone know the name of the color? I have been having a hard time picking out a BM dress that I like, and I saw this one and fell in love. Please help!!
  22. this is such a great thread! I have changed my mind about my wedding colors at least 25 times, and I have been thinking of fuschia and orange ever since we decided to have a DW. this sealed the deal for me! thank you for all of the wonderful ideas ladies!
  23. Can you add us to the list as well? Â User Name: sarahandmark Name: Sarah & Mark Location: Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort & Spa Wedding: May 6, 2011 @ 2 PM in JA: 5/3/11 - 5/10/11
  24. frizzy64, I was having a lot of trouble getting people to email me back in order to reserve my wedding date also. I finally decided to try the old-fashioned way (by telephone) and I spoke to someone right then and there. They emailed me wedding package info within the next day or so. If you aren't having much luck with email, try calling, it may work out better. Congratulations, and good luck planning!
  25. I finally bypassed the whole email thing and just decided to call. The wedding coordinator at the Grand Palladium sent me all of the package information within a day or two. We've finally selected a date (May 6, 2011) so now I just have to move forward with all of the rest of the planning! Mrsgreene2011, my fiance and I live in Glen Burnie - what part are you in? Congratulations by the way :-)
