  1. I had my reception at Kool Beach Club and I can tell you that it was amazing. The place is gorgeous, the food is delicious, it felt completely private. Lori is right that during the day it's a very loud, busy, crazy bar, but if you hold an event there at night, the space is all yours. They provide security so that no one walks up from the beach to join the party, but it certainly wasn't any kind of issue for us. I don't remember hearing anything from Mamitas...it really felt very secluded. We had our wedding in March and there is not really a backup rain plan <---which could be an issue for you. We just crossed our fingers and our rain-plan was "well, we all get wet." I have spent a lot of time in Playa (my husband's family owns a place down there) and we took our time finding the right place. We were married in a villa and we walked through town to Kool. Obviously, I'm biased, but I thought that we couldn't have picked a better spot...all of our guests agreed. If you click to #216 of the slideshow below, you can see photos of Kool...it was beautiful!! Good luck and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=402
  2. hi guys! just to post a little more information to keep this thread alive, i wanted to share my experience at this hotel. we were not married here, but after our wedding in playa del carmen, my husband and i spent a few nights at mayakoba as a mini-honeymoon and it was AMAZING. we booked the room through jetsetter.com and got a great deal...an enormous pool villa, completely private, all to ourselves. everything about this place is gorgeous. looking back, if we had had a smaller group, this would have absolutely been the choice for our wedding. the staff, service and food were all excellent! even if you're not having your wedding here, it's a great place to consider for a few quiet days before the re-entry into real life!
  3. Love it J-Me! From one Texan to another, congratulations and happy planning! http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=402
  4. I just thought I'd throw this out there...has anyone been looking for travel deals on Jetsetter? If you haven't been to their website, you should check it out! http://www.jetsetter.com/sales If you're familiar with Gilt Groupe, this is their sister company that creates travel deals at some of the finest hotels throughout the world. My husband and I were married in Playa del Carmen in March and after the wedding, we were able to book two nights at a seriously discounted rate at the Banyan Tree Mayakoba! We used it as a mini-moon right after the wedding, but we booked our real honeymoon to Montreal through the site. It's amazing! We had an unbelievable experience at Mayakoba and I've been in touch with several brides through the forum who were looking other expensive hotels in the area that I've seen pop up on the site. The best opportunity to book is through a flash sale and it's worth it to keep an eye out. Even better, it's the perfect way to book a honeymoon. They make you "sign-up" for a free membership, but it just means that you provide your email address and create a free account. So easy... Just thought I'd share. 5. Hey Michelle! By this time you've probably already picked a place, but if not...have you looked into renting a villa? If you're having a smaller group, it can be so much more cost effective for everyone and it makes for a really special and personal weekend! We got married at a villa in Playa del Carmen back in March and it was a wonderful experience! Riviera Maya is the way to go! Congratulations and best of luck to you! http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=402&
  6. BIG CONGRATS to DEL SOL!! If you're looking for a great new photographer, please check out their newest associate Juan Jose!! We worked with him back in March and his photos are AMAAAAZING!! http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=402

  8. I have to get this guy's name out---Juan from Del Sol is AMAZING!!!! He was so sweet, so professional, and so incredibly talented...we were thrilled with the outcome! If you're looking for a photographer, look no further! http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=402
  9. Oh my gosh!!! I have to tell you, we just worked with Juan Jose and he's AMAZING!!!!!! He's so so sweet and so so talented. I mean it. We had seen such incredible reviews about Matt and Sol and there rest of the Del Sol team, so we were expecting great things from him but OH MY GOSH--we were amazed. On the day of the wedding, he showed up with this huge grin on his face, gave me a big hug, said how happy he was for the two of us, smiling, smiling, and then he got right to work! Listen, he was everywhere--I keep saying that I see these photos and I remember those moments but I had no idea he was capturing them. He is incredibly talented. Period. We had Jonathan and Melissa working with him and they were also amazing (and so fun!!)!!! All three worked together beautifully and Juan really made sure that all three were capturing everything. He's the real deal. I knew we would be in good hands with Del Sol regardless...but he's way better than I would have ever imagined. Please look at my slideshow below and check out his work! I hope you get the chance to work with him. Best of luck to you and congratulations on your 10 year anniversary (how wonderful)!! http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=402
