  1. Hello Vernicula - Congratulations on your engagement! I agree with everything MarieSam previously posted. One of the most important things when choosing an agent is there experience and their level of  expertise with destinations and resorts.

All of the Wright Travel agents have years of experience working with wedding groups, we have built excellent relationships with many resorts and we have visited, toured and stayed at many resorts in several different  destinations.

Email is one way of communication so you have everything in writing and can access this a anytime, but phone calls can be just as useful.

Our goal is to make sure all of your questions are answered from beginning to end and we are happy to set up a phone call whenever you would like.

Some couples prefer to only communicate via email and others also want that reassuring voice with a phone call. We can do whatever works best for each coiple.

Please let us know what questioned

  2. Congratulations Whitney!  Puerto Plata is expanding and Playa Dorada is a popular area with beautiful beaches.  There are several resort options in Puerto Plata, but I'm not real familiar with offsite venues, restaurants, etc...   A few questions for you are below to help with the planning process.

What type of ceremony and reception are you looking for?

How many local guests will you have?

Will you also have guests attending who are from the US?  How many ? &  Do you need a resort for these guests?

    Thanks! Patty

  3. Congratulations and Welcome to the BDW forum!!  I have toured Sensatori Azul Beach Riviera Maya and it is a really nice resort. We had a group booked there a few years ago and they all had an awesome time.

I am one of the DR specialists and have stayed a few times at Now Onyx in Punta Cana.  I love, love, love the resort!!   There is an awesome adults only area & pool within the resort and they're in the process of adding a new family section with a new pool area. This is scheduled to be complated later this year.  The added bonus of adults being able to access Breathless Punta Cana is awesome, you get two resorts for the price of one!

Another great family friendly resort in Punta Cana is Royalton Bavaro. They have a great lazy river with a swim up "grotto" bar, flow rider, tot water play area, mini golf, and Casino and sports bar/disco. There really is something for everyone.

Now Onyx and Royalton Bavaro are both new resorts that just opened in the past few years. Rooms are modern&contemporary, food is great at both!

Please contact us at [email protected] if we can answer any questions for you, send resort info, and check group rates for you.  We do not charge any service fees for our services and we're here to make the planning process as stress free as possible for you!!

    Thank you! TA Patty

  4. Congratulations Amanda and welcome to the forum! Absolutely use a travel agent. You will get the best rates & personalized for you and your guests.

We can definitely give you resort suggestions & answer any questions you have, but your best bet for pricing will be to contact a Canadian TA. Canadian rates are different than the US market and are typically packaged with the air plus using a Canadian TA you and your guests can pay in CAD.

Karisma resorts are known for their "gourmet inclusive" food options.  Sensatori Punta Cana is a beautiful resort that opened a few years ago. They offers a sky terrace for weddings & reception. They are next to Nickelodeon Punta Cana and share many of the same restaurants. There is an awesome waterpark for kids that is available for a nominal fee.

In Punta Cana Now Onyx is a popular option & we have stayed there twice. The food is good and adults have the added bonus of being able to go to Breathless Punta Cana which is an adults only resort next door.  Now Onyx is in the process of adding a sky terrace for weddings with reception area attached.

Royalton Resorts are another great option. Royalton Bavaro in Punta Cana has a terrace overlooking the ocean and Royalton Riviera Cancun has an open air chapel overlooking the ocean. They are great family friendly resorts.

Resort info is attached for all of these options & we have stayed at or toured all of them as well. Please take a look and let me know what questions we can answer. Thanks! Patty

  5. Congratulations and welcome to the forum! There are lots of great resort options in Punta Cana and we have stayed at or toured many of them.  Are you looking for a family friendly resort or adults only?  What you interested in with nature and the ceremony? All of the resorts will have different wedding locations and there are also a variety of off resort wedding venues in Punta Cana. Please feel free to email us at [email protected] if you'd like us to send resort info and check group rates. Thanks! Patty

  6. Hi Danielle - Congratulations & welcome to the forum!  It is pretty common for a resort to charge "vendor fees" for outside vendors to come on property, but in my experience typically they do not charge if they are staying at the resort. I would suggest you go back to the resort and check on it again and you can also ask your TA to get involved. Good Luck!! TA Patty

  7. Congratulations Latasha!! Welcome to the BDW forum you will find lots of helpful information. Click below when you're ready to start the planning if you'd like a BDW/Wright Travel agent to contact you.  TA Patty

  8. I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.

Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.

    Dreams Dominicus

    • Brand new resort and in 2016
    • 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway)
    • More contemporary style & decor
    • Good beach area
    • Rooms were very nice
    • Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front
    • Food was good
    • Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment
    • Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice

    Dreams La Romana

    • Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008
    • 756 rooms
    • Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added
    • Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor
    • Grounds are very lush and tropical
    • Good beach area
    • food was good

  11. Congratulations & welcome to the BDW forum!! You've come to the right place.  There are many great resort options in the Dominican Republic.  We have toured and stayed at many of them and I'll be in Punta Cana again visiting 6 new resorts next month.   We have personal relationships with many of the resorts and can help you with contacting the wedding planners.

  15. Can you tell me about your wedding at Hard Rock? How many people? Did you do a full wedding and reception? Would you mind telling me how much the wedding itself cost total?

Hi there - I am not a bride, I'm one of the BDW TA's, but we have had several groups booked at Hard Roc Punta Cana. Hard Rock will allow a group block with as few as 5 rooms and they offer great wedding perks.

I have resort and wedding package info I can share. Feel free to contact me at [email protected] and I'm happy to send the info and answer any questions you may have. Thank you Patty
