Congrats on your Punta Cana!! We actually had our travel agent go through DeltaVacations because they were cheaper then everyone else including Apple Vacations. They have a great group package, our agent set us up with the felixble group travel deal and we were giving a code for everyone to use when booking, they get $50 off per couple (double occupancy) and we also get $25 off per person, they also allowed her to do a room block. There is also the option of them doing the plane seat block but you do not get any discount. I went through our local travel agent and everyone has called and booked through her, in Punta Cana we have gone through our Barcelo Wedding Coordinator. I had the same issues when I started planning with my Fiances family, we decided to have a reception at home as well for those who could not attend. We originally wanted to go to either St. Thomas or St. Lucia and changed our location to Punta Cana to make it a little more affordable for those who wanted to attend. We are shocked to see that in 3 Weeks we have had 30 people book and some who were worried about the cost. Like others have said those who are important wont miss your wedding and this is your day, do what you want to do! You will be shocked on who attends and if there not there Oh well, its about you not them!! Good Luck!!

We looked at the Barcelo and many other resorts in Punta Cana for our April 2011 wedding and ended up choosing the Barcelo Punta Cana due to them having the best and most reasonable wedding packages as well and it being a reasonable resort for our guests to afford. The other resorts look gorgeous but I couldnt bring myself to make guests feel they had to spend an arm and a leg to attend or put ourselves into debt over it!

Hello Everyone, I am so excited that someone told me about this site, all I do is read forum after forum and have already received a ton of ideas and information. My Fiance and I are getting married at the Barcelo Punta Cana on April 15th 2011!! We are so excited and are looking for any information/experiences on the resort and the DR!
