So, I'm slowly getting organized and will provide an in depth review of anything soon. In the meantime, I'm finally clearing out the extras. I am located in Calgary, AB but will ship anywhere. As I will need to pack up items and take them to the post office to quote shipping rates, I would ask that you only ask me to do that if you are serious. I am an older bride who really looked forward to spending time with the 24 folks who joined us rather than fussing too much on "stuff', which by the way---becomes exactly that when you're in paradise! Please check out my pics to get a better idea of items as my descriptions may not cut it! Here we go:

  2. I was married in Oct. 2011 at Dreams Pam Beach (fabulous place, highly recommend). I am located in Calgary and am now finally clearly out the post wedding items. I have posted a list under "Buy,Sell, Trade, etc", with the title.....Post Wedding Items Canada. Have a look there for items ladies because you can pay me in Cdn $ and not have to pay for shipping....you can come to my house and see the lot of stuff I have.

  3. I got these bags from 4imprint.....they have both.ca and .com, i think. They are waterproof and every guest used it! I think they came in at about $3.00 each. I choose these because the day follwoing the wedding i took all guests on the Punta Cana wedding boat and I knew that we'd be transported by a smaller boat first, so i was thinking of something hands free---worked likje a charm!

  4. Ladies----I also am in Calgary and was married in Punta Cana at Dreams Palm Beach in Oct. 2011. I spent many, many hours on this site while in the planning stages and I must apologize for not posting reviews and info as yet....I'm getting there and will have it up shortly. Just know there is nothing like a destination wedding and your guests will love it, regardless of the "stuff" you are so concerned about. Relax and enjoy the build up. I am now clearing out my post wedding items. I have posted a thread under "buy, sell, trade, etc" titled, Post Wedding Items Canada. The thread didn't allow me to indicate I will sell in Cdn dollars but I certainly will. I'll be adding additional items in the next few days.....

  5. Hello ladies----I got married at Dreams Palm Beach in Oct. 2011. Suffice to say all was wonderful and fabulous...I'll post pics soon. Re: A/C. I ate in 2 of the four specialty restaurants. Although it was not "blowing cold air", it was not hot either. My opinion and that of all my guests is that the French was by far the best!  I am located in Calgary, AB and just posted a thread under "Buy, Sell, Trade, etc." with a list of post wedding items I am selling. Words of advice/experience----don't stress yourself and don't load yourself down with "stuff'. It is paradise in itself and truly no abundance of items will make it better! Just say'in......

  6. Hello ladies! I got married at Dreams Palm Beach in Punta Cana in Oct. 2011. My apologies for not getting on here with reviews and feedbacks---but it's been madness since my return. I'm now starting the organizing with clearing out of unused items......as I am in Calgary, I thought I'd let you all know I just posted items for sale under the Buy, Sale, Trade thread...it is titled.....Post Wedding Sale Canada....It didn't allow me to indicate you could pay in Cdn $ but I will certainly do that. For those of you planning and getting excited, it will be worth every penny and moments of stress! It is the best decision you will have made!

  7. glitz.jpgFound some more items I had forgotten. They include:

    • Hair bling, includes 2 bling backcombs, 2 packs of bling bobby pins ($12 per pack) (a few missing from one pack and a hair flower. Flower is white with backcomb feather and bling. Total value approx $60; asking $15 takes all.
    • Bling stones and glue --2 turquoise and 2 white packages of stones...fabulous items. Purchased at Micheals for between $6 and $14 each! I bought these to do "something" on the sole of my shoes but ran out of time: asking $25 for allhair.jpg

  9. Ladies...I have just returned from my wedding at Dreams Palm Beach in Punta Cana. All of my guests absolutely loved everything in my Welcome bags---I'm so glad cuz I obsessed over it for soo long. Of all of the items; water bottle, welcome booklet, book mark, survival kit, magnets, post cards (all the misc. vistaprint stuff), glow sticks, etc....if I had to pick the one item I saw people use the most...it would be a little pouch thing (hangs around your neck) that I bought at the Dollar Store for $1.50 each. I'd say it was about 5 inches tall and about 3.5 inches wide. It had a net pocket thing on the back and two zipper pockets on the front. EVERYONE used it! It held your room key, your $ (for tipping), a chap stick, a pack of smokes/lighter and in some cased a small camera/phone. It was probably the one item I put the least amount of thought into...and yet, it got the most use......go figure.....

  10. Ladies...I had my wedding at Dreams Palm Beach just over a week ago and took all my guests out on La Barcaza the following day. Of all the wonderful wedding events/gifts/OOT bags, etc....my guests absolutely, without a doubt loved everything about La Barcaza. It was the best decision I made. Suspecting it may be good fun, I added two extra hours on right at the beginning. They picked us up at our hotel at 3 PM in an older, yet air conditioned bus. We drove about 20 mins to another resort, got off the bus and walked to the beach. We had 27 people in total to it took two trips on a smaller boat to shuttle us over to La Barcaza. There were about 5 staff on board (all men as Flori was away). The boat was clean and nicely set up. I didn't bring any decorations so they had vases with seashells, etc..on each table. It worked fine. They have sodas, beer, rum and mamajuana....and plenty of it!  You can bring other liquour if you like at no extra charge...i didn't bother...The top deck is beautiful with white leather couches all around, which I thought might be hot to sit on becuz it was sooo hot but they weren't at all....Our first stop was snorkling....they have all the equipment and helped everyone get ready and to get in/out of the water. Two of the guys went into the water with us and led us to a reef area (not very far at all, they know the waters for sure). they also gave us bits of bread to attract the fish to us....those that snorkeled loved it! We then got back on board and went to an area they call "natural springs?" or something like that. It was an area fairly far off shore with crystal clear gentle waters....no waves. Those that were nervous of snorkeling got out to enjoy this area and absolutely loved it....including my 78 year old mother in law who is frightened to death of water! We did that for about 20/30 and got back on board, First up was the food....I must say OMG....I had the mixed grill for everyone. (I think it was about $80 per person). First they brought out a plate of french fries for the table and then the indiviudal plated dinner...It included grilled shrimp, beef skewers, mahi-mahi fish, chicken skewers and caribbean lobster...all with grilled veggies....my guests "lapped it up"...no kidding! For dessert they served warm grilled fresh pineapple...again...OMG... Then they moved the tables out of the way and lined up all the chairs along the railings....then the party began...we had an older crowd so we certainly danced some (I brought an ipod with music but they did have music as well) but then they involved everyone in fun stuff---pulling people up to dance, have people lap dance to one another, etc. They really got everyone involved. They kept on top of everyone's drink order and I noticed that when you tipped one guy...instead of stuffing it in his pocket...they would go over to the "tip box' by the bar and put it in there----I assume to share with all the guys...nice touch I thought. So, we danced and partied, and visited and chatted and drank and laughed and really just had the best time ever! It did not get too windy at all (maybe a wee bit) but it was still so humid it felt hot. We anchored at 9 PM & they shuttled us by boat back to shore. We arrived bach at our resort clost to 10 PM....my opinion is....if there is anyway you can swing it...you must experience La Barcaza!

  11. Welcome to all the newbies! I remember how exciting it was to start on this journey a year ago...I was so pumped and couldn't fill my head with enough ideas and information. My wedding is in 2 1/2 weeks and so I am pretty much done. I'm not sure how to "bump" an old thread so thought I would just post a few comments/suggestions based on my experience to help make your planning somewhat easier.

    1) First off there are all sorts of fabulous templates on this site which you can't access unless you submit XX number of postings. I by passed that all togethe and put out the $30 ?? right way so I could have immediate access (no, I don't work for this site LOL).

    2) Sign up with Michaels and Vistaprint to get on their mailing lists for special offers....you'll be amazed at the savings if you plan it right.

    3) Keep an eye on Etsy and Ebay...lots of great stuff come up on there.

    4) If you have to order something in bulk for from the US---try and see if you can get a couple of ladies to go in with you on certain items...savings are good!

Enjoy exploring this site ladies....you will have a blast.

  12. I loved Vistaprint...Mine is all done for now as my wedding is in 2 weeks! It was like Christmas at my house all year! There were a couple of deliveries a week. I also have mugs, t-shirts, hats, pens, keychains, several orders of postcards, note books, brochures, business cards used for name tags, magnets (small-humourous and large 2012 calendar) and sticky notes for 30 people. I also got a poster (which I will use for people to sign instead of a guest book and a lawn sign that will be great for a photo op! I totalled up my costs which are mostly small amounts for shipping and it is just over $200....you just can't beat it! I will try and take a picture to show you all.

  13. Congrats & happy planning! If I could, I would like to offer up some advice/tips as yiou start planning. First off, if it is in your budget I would recommend a paid membership on this site. I did that from the start and didn't have the stress of not being able to access templates, counting the number of posts I had, etc....it was a no brainer for me. Not sure how "craftsy" you are but two more ideas would be to register at vistaprint.ca or .com to get on their mailing list.....your wedding is a long way off and you'll have lots of time to get yourself free items and last but not least register with Micheal's so you get on their mailing list for 50% off coupons as well....Set out a plan and start early! Good luck!
